Magnum considers this. If it comes down to it, which is better? Sleeping in the woods and waiting to see if they attack us or potentially endangering one of the civilians who live her on the off chance they develop testicular fortitude?
Hmmm, they didn't strike me as the sort to go breaking down doors in the middle of the night. And even if they did find out where we're staying, I'd rather take my chances in a town than just the two of us in the woods.
Regardless of the decision taken, at some point before the night ends Silent will attempt to seek out the musicians once again.
Magnum agrees about staying in town. He approaches one of the townspeople. Madam, is it possible for us to stay eith somone in town for the evening? We're not familiar with this festival and woukd love to participate if it's not a bother.
Wherever we stay, Magnum is going to cast Alarm as a ritual around the property so that there is a 160 square foot area covered. It will be a mental alarm that excludes regular animals and the residents of the property. He uses his tinker’s tools To carve arcane symbols on things instead of using the bell and string.
Magnum, you set up your alarm, earning some curious glances from the homeowner, but no interference. The night is peaceful, and you both wake in the morning having completed a long rest.
(Prior to that, Silent is able to find the musicians again, as they are winding down for the night. Is there anything in particular he wants to speak to them about?)
Silent, the band are very local, mostly travelling between Port Damali and Feolinn; they recommend a shop in Feolinn if you want to buy a lute, the Lyrical Star, and give you the names of some well-known lute players and teachers in the city. Let me know if that's something Silent will want to investigate when he arrives there.
You set off, resuming your journey along the Gilded Roadway, passing between the sea and the beautiful Plumgroves. There are more travellers on the road now, more guards and patrols, and the Zhelezo show no interest in Silent, despite his earlier misadventures.
You camp on the fourth night, only a day or two from the city you think. I assume that Silent is sleeping, and Magnum is keeping watch, as he can do so uninterrupted and still complete a long rest? If so, can Magnum please give me a Perception check.
Magnum, the alarm sounds, and you hear a hissed intake of breath behind you. You see Simyon, the bearded man who attacked you at the village festival, and his four cronies, all approaching with swords drawn.
Silent, you awake, but are prone and also surprised for the first round.
The leader, Simyon, calls out: Focus on the orc! The metal beast will die with him.
Round One: Man 4 Man 2 Silent Man 1 Man 3 Magnum Simyon
Two of the men race up and attack Silent before he is able to get up:
Attack: 22 Damage: 2 Attack: 15 Damage: 4
One manages to stab his shortsword into your leg as you are moving, but you are able to knock it away before it goes deep.
Silent is up. You are prone, lying next to two of the attackers, with the others some feet away. They all look pumped up for a fight this time, not drunk at all.
(On balance, I think the Alarm spell should be enough to prevent being surprised, in all but exceptional cases.)
Silent lumbers to his feet rubbing his eyes and muttering Bloody gods... Almost without looking he unsheathes his greatsword and swings for one of the attackers. Again he is aiming to knock out rather than kill.
After a moment's hesitation he will use a bonus action to Manifest Echo 15 ft. away from the action (ideally in a shadowed location away from immediate notice).
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Silent, your sword slices into the man and he screams with pain; it's not quite enough to finish him, but not far from it.
It's dark, but you're not really able to move to a shadowed location. The attackers are, however, pretty startled by this action, and one shouts in panic: Shit! He's a mage! Shit!!
Man 1 and 3 decide to try their attacks against Magnum, now that Silent has removed himself:
Attack: 21 Damage: 4 Attack: 16 Damage: 4
Clang. Clang. The short swords bounce harmlessly off metal.
Magnum, you're up. You have two attackers next to you, two are a little way away where Silent teleported from.
(OOC: Just a heads up - I believe I can only Manifest the Echo as a bonus action, to swap places with it I'd need to use another bonus action on my next turn. Silent should still be sandwiched by two of the men)

Let me know when you're ready to set off again.
Silent just wants to congratulate them on their performance and ask if they know of any luthiers either in this area or in the Empire.
Magnum will be ready to move out whenever Silent is.

Perception - 0 I would like to point out that I will set Alarm every night.
(OOC: Oh that's rough... and yes, Silent will definitely want to take some time to follow up on those leads when we reach Feolinn)
Is Magnum's Alarm set to audible?
Yes.
