To my team:
I can only be 30ft away from where I want to cast minor illusion. Just tell me where to stand and where to cast it and what sound to make. Whoever is doing the sneak attack make the call for this. I have tons of exams coming up these next 2 weeks so might not answer. I will pre-emptively roll for this minor illusion spell and you guys can decide where and what to use it for. If that's ok with dm? or just auto-roll for me if I don't respond. I'm done my exams at the start of june so will be able to talk every day then :)
I cast Minor Illusion (refer to the players shotcalling for what and where)
(Nip and Trefor are both very good at timing it just right to get past the Lazy Goblin and are make it to the Northern Forest without a problem. They wait for Aphelios' to create an illusion.
DMs note: I'm making a DM's ruling that, since it's a sound and not a visual illusion, the distance is not going to be as relevant.
(Aphelios creates some whispering to make it seem like the Lazy Goblin's thinking to itself.)
"Damn, that's hot. I should go to that patch of trees up there with the magazine. He'll never suspect. Just go."
(The Lazy Goblin looks a little puzzled... but ultimately likes the idea so much he doesn't question why his inner voice is different.)
"Welp, gotta go to the bathroom. Be right back."
(The Serious One rolls its eyes, not fooled one bit, but turns slightly sideways to scan the southern area and gives a small grunt of acknowledgement.
The Goblin takes his magazine and walks up towards the trees. He is now only 10 ft away and can't be seen by the other Goblin because of the trees.)
What do you do?
DMs note: If you're going to grab him, please roll a straight 20, I'll add modifiers. DC for that is 8. If you're going to attack roll it but let me know what kind of attack (lethal or non-lethal) and any other relevant info.
(Trefor and Nip manage to completely surprise the Goblin and grab him, covering his mouth to muffle his surprised shrieks. After a few moments struggle you all bind him up with rope.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
As I draw my sword and point it at him I speak to him in a deadly tone.
"Caught you with your pants down, eh filth! What have you done with Bess? What is going on beyond those stairs? Start talking and be precise, or I will make you talk," I wave my sword below his belt, "and I am less than precise with this sword..."
OCC: I'm assuming and intimidation check, so here is a straight 20 roll. My intimidation bonus is +3. I'll forgo adding it in just in case you want to use a different modifier.
(The lazy goblin looks terrified, shaking in fear. You all hear a small whizzing noise, a small puddle appears on the ground in front of the Goblin, who starts begging in broken Common.)
"N-n-no... please. I have kids. I didn't want to be a guard, they made me! Please don't kill me!"
(The goblin starts sobbing, loudly, looking absolutely pathetic. Trefor threatens him with his sword and looks intimidating.)
Yes, Krag tell you everything! Just don't kill me! You-you want little girl? She's in there."
(Krag points at the tomb.)
"Big boss, Sarris, tell us kidnap little girl for sacrifice to Goblin god. Turn holy tomb into temple for Goblin god. Goblin god happy. Has wizard goblin doing, uh... uh..." (starts speaking Goblin)
Ritual?
"Sacrifice little girl tonight. This many goblins."
(Krag holds up 6 little green fingers.)
"P-p-please, let Krag go. You never see me again. I go, ok?"
(OOC what time is it?, how long do we have before nightfall?)
"yes, yes, my friend Krag, you better be telling truth"
I whisper to Trefor "I do not think wise to let him free, though I pity this poor soul. I say we make him lure his companion so we have an advantage to take the other one out, and then knock this one out and leave him restrained while we move inside." "I say we send a message to Aphelios and Manxim by throwing a letter in a stone or an arrow something- (OOC: I have ink)- , force this little one to lure his companion to us, Aphelios and Manxim take him from behind and we flank him from the sides"
Trefor nods, sternly, "I'm with you Nip. You should instruct him what to say and do it in goblin, that way he'll know you speak it. My only concern is that his friend will hear our projectile message crashing through the trees. It might be to our advantage to trust our friends to act when they see the other one coming our way. I'll let you make the call though friend, what will you have us do?"
"Ah yes, yes, you are likely right, the noise would likely put the other goblin on alert. So then, get behind those trees, I'll hide over there (two spots by the sides of the restrained gobling with sufficient distance to attack with our bows if the other goblin comes to the calls of his companion), and I'll try to make this little guy right here call the grumpy one our way and we'll take him from the sides"
I then speak to the goblin in his own tongue:
"Okay my little friend. If you really want to live, you'll listen to me, and listen to me carefully. You are going to call your friend over there to come aid you, telling him that you just killed a big fat boar for lunch and need help to carry it to back. I bet your boss would be happy for some meat for a change. And you can bet that if I notice anything out of place, I'll snap your neck with my bare hands right after I stick an arrow of mine through your firend's spine..."
(Krag looks terrified still, and does what he is told.)
"Gronk! I killed a Boar here! Come help me so we can take it to Sarris!"
(The Serious Goblin hears his friend and starts walking briskly over.)
"Wow, really? Good job! Let me see..."
Gronk Perception: 2
(Gronk doesn't realize anything is amiss. He walks into the forest looking for his friend.)
DMs note: If you're going to grab him, roll a 20. If you're going to attack him you have advantage but only get 1 shot, whoever posts first gets to act.
Trefor, your 'To Hit' should be +4, not +6. BUT... you were supposed to have advantage. Your first roll is a 13 which is a miss, but roll again and we'll take the higher of the 2. That's what advantage does, it lets you roll twice and takes the higher one. Your damage was fine.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
DMs note: Your proficiency is already calculated in the 'To Hit' bonus next to the weapon. That second attack you did should have been +4 to hit, so a 10.
(Trefor attacks Gronk, but, in an unlucky moment, the blade hits a metal stud in Gronks leather armor, blocking the damage. Gronk quickly realizes it's an ambush.)
In Goblin:
Damn it! Get loose and help me get the others!
Manxim and Aphelios, please roll initiative with disadvantage, as you are too far away to be able to react quickly. Trefor and Nip roll initiative regularly.
