Tex leads Iri down to a small cottage near the waterfront. The Goliath is a bit nervous, squeezing Iri’s hand quite a bit as they approach, “Alright alright alright, this is gonna be great, I uh...haven’t come by to visit her as often as I was supposed to but, I’m pretty sure she’s gonna love you, almost as much as, well” Tex clears his throat, “uh, well anyways..” Tex knocks on the short round door. A beat, before the sounds of machinery clattering and papers rustling, “Yeah yeah yeah, I’m comin’ I’m comin.” The door swings open as a matronly gnome woman stands in the doorway, her thick, curly red hair tied back with an oil stained bandana, her coveralls are similarly stained as if she’s been working in the inside of a tar barrel or something.
”Ah! Lil’ Tex-ikins!! Come here and give momma some sugar!” The diminutive mom pulls the 7’ tall Goliath down into a bear hug, Tex melts, his relatively awkward size seems to shrink into that of a little boy around his momma. “Oh, momma! It’s good to see you too, I uh, have someone for you to meet!” He extricates himself from the gnome’s iron hug long enough to motion for Iri. As Iri steps into the cottage, she is greeted with a very warm, cozy space, positively covered in stuff: inventions, papers, various plants, toys, old baby pictures of Tex sitting in the mantle above an inviting fireplace and various tiny rabbit-like constructs similar in mechanics to Fern. Fern sidles past the gnome momma, nuzzling against her body before curling up on a well worn cushion by the fire. “ Iri, this is my mother, Jocasta. Momma, this lovely lady is Iridansa, and she’s my...” Tex looks pleadingly are Iri for help in defining their relationship...
"Lil'Tex-ikins," Iri giggles upon seeing the gnome hug Tex. "Oh, I am on of his companions on his recent adventures, one of his friends, and more recently his romantic partner." Iri says as her face turns slightly red. "It is a pleasure to meet you miss Jocasta. Tex has spoken very highly of you." Iri curtsies in a very fancy way. She looks around the home and smiles.
“Well now, aren’t you just the cutest thing! Come in Come in! You hungry? Thirsty? Let me get you something!” Jocasta snatches Iri by the hand, leading her into the homey cottage, and chats up a storm to Iri. Tex smirks at Iri as she gets rushed past, mouthing the words “Good luck” as he heads up the rear.
The evening is spent with Jocasta retelling all the embarrassing stories of Tex’s childhood over a warm, home-cooked meal beside a happy fireplace, surrounded by marvels and inventions. “That’s right! Stark naked! Just dancing around at the festival, he was always so comfortable around people.”

Iri is very awkward for the first little while. She never really had interactions with other families, certainly not families of a significant other. But as it goes on, she relaxes and begins to enjoy herself, laughing at the stories, telling a few of her own of the underwater kingdom and the mischief she causes. "And I crashed the whale right into the ball. Oh man, the look on my father's face was priceless." As the evening goes on, Iri yawns and curls up on Tex smiling. She could get used to being around people like this. Even if it was just for the next fifty or so years.
The town council approaches you all one morning and asks you to undertake a different kind of mission. One of the town residents, a gnome named Pinchwit Wigglehoof, is an expert goatherd. But her flock of goats are no normal herd. She raises giant goats, excellent producers of milk and meat, and even their goat-hair is highly valued for its tensile strength and warmth.
Elmar Barthen, proprietor of Barthen’s Provisions in Phandalin, is brokering a deal with a wealthy Waterdhavian merchant to sell some of Pinchwit’s stock for a very lucrative profit. As a goatherd in the employ of Dagult Neverember and the town of Leilon, Pinchwit’s profits are the town’s profits. It's simply good for business.
However, part of the deal is that the goats must be brought to Phandalin. While Pinchwit is an excellent goatherd, she is less capable as a fighter, thus, she and her goats need an escort from Leilon to Phandalin, and the town turns to you all. The town council of Leilon also needs you all to buy wagons to bring back a plethora of supplies that the town needs.
"How many wagons do you want, and how much are you giving us to purchase them? And why do goats need protection? There must be something you're not telling us..." the suspicious drow asks.
"Oh, you!" she says, blowing your suspicion off casually as if anything could go sideways with making a GOAT DELVIERY. "Let's see." Grizzelda thinks. "Just one with supplies. I'll give you a list of stuff to pick up from Barthen’s Provisions up there. These goats are very important, ok? They're special. Just go up to Phandalin and give em to Barthen." She hands Iri the money, plus a little extra for you all. And by a "little extra" I mean a couple hundred gold pieces per person for your troubles. The four giant goats are attached to a coach which you'll ride in up to Phandalin.
Lelion has anything the PHB has with the same prices, if you want to buy anything. You hop onto the wagon with the four large goats in tow, are wished well, and set off. For the first half of the journey northward, everything was fine. Then, you spot two wyverns flying up in the sky, eyeing the caravan from below.
