THE DRAGON'S BARROW
The barrow is roughly 40 miles northwest of Phandalin, amid the rolling hills and grasslands between the High Road and Neverwinter Wood. Since you all can travel roughly 24 miles in a day, you should expect to take one long rest in the wilderness before arriving at the barrow on the second day of your trek. A cold wind blowing in from the coast assails them for most of the trip, bringing occasional rain.
A thirty-foot-high hill rises ahead of you, its top too flat to be a natural occurrence. Jutting from the grassy hilltop is a row of ten-foot-tall, bone-white rocks that arc toward the stormy sky like outstretched talons.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Before taking a long rest, Iri uses her remaining spell slots to cast goodberry 3 times to have 30 berries for the next day.
"Ooh I heard about this green dragon. My older cousin saw it flying over the ocean around when I was born. People said he was lying but I knew there was truth to it." Iri exclaims as she approaches the barrow. "More time underground. Do you guys think there will be more of those nasty undead?" Realizing this, she scoots closer to Tex, keeping an eye out. Perception 8
You notice its distinctive dragon-like shape and how the the pale rocks resemble spikes protruding from a dragon’s back. Searching the hilltop you can spot a opening beneath the base of the rock and you think by lashing ropes around the top of the rock, you can topple it with a successful DC 19 Strength (Athletics) check.
With some help from Tex to rig the ropes, Gareth-Wyn sets up to give the enormous rocks. Before giving it a heave, he will invoke once more the might of the giants of old, his form shifting and growing in size, giving him superior leverage for the job.
It appears one of the white rocks atop the hill acts as a stone plug embedded in the earth. You easily topple it over. The opening beneath the rock reveals a 2-foot-wide spiral staircase with flagstone steps, descending 30 feet to area D2.
D2 - Take a look at the underground map. You descend a spiral staircase down in the center. You can see three will-o'-wisps floating at the bottom. They zip down the hall towards the southern area on the map.
Looking down the spiral stairs underground, Iridansa reaches over and hugs Tex's arm. "What are those small lights down there?" She says in a shaky voice. "Do we follow them? We are just looking for the sword right? Do we really need it...."
Vi looks around. "Do we know where the sword is? If not, I would guess we're just searching the area. And we don't need it, but it sure would be useful."
Tex analyzes the floating will'O'Wisps, Those are Will-O'-Wisps. Nasty little varmints, they're attracting to fear and despair. Have a nasty habit of sucking the life out of those who get lost in their area. They're undead at the end of the day though so, Selune willing, your goddess should be able to protect us, at least in part." Tex keeps an arm wrapped around Iri as moral support.
