After about an hour of travel you can start to see smoke rising above the tress. Vince turns around and whispers. "We should start keeping an eye out. We're getting close to where patrols might start"
With everyone keeping a lookout Bogue calls out to Vince "STOP" Vince stops and turning back around after speaking to you all, looks down to see he is a step away from a trip wire.
Now that attention has been called to it you can all see that Vince, Edith and Mystwaen are all standing on a net hidden under the forest litter.
Vince let's out a breath "Thank you. That was too close"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Edith lets out a sigh of relief before saying "Thanks!" She then carefully steps outside the net and leans down, trying to see how recently this trap was made. "This might be a stupid question, and I don't mean any offense by it, but was this here when you left that you know of?"
Edith. It was set fairly recently. No more than 2 days. Vince says "No, I don't think it was here before unless we were very in lucky in not triggering it. There are traps all through the forest around camp but it's possible they have set more since word of the brute squad started getting around."

(I will take the perception rolls into consideration while moving forward. Help roll: 16 I'll modifiers depending on who's looking :)
Now that you've past the net trap and the camp is almost in view Vince quickly scrawls a map into the dirt of the camp. "We're about here.. and we can hopefully make our way to Bloodfangs house here" he says tracing the dotted red line on the map. (Sorry, only have one map software at the moment that's easy so I didn't do a real trace in the dirt map :) hehe)
"So what's the plan? Surround the house and take him out first, then worry about the rest? And should we get a distraction by one of those campfires across the camp, or is it unnecessary?" Mystwaen asks, starting to draw out some attack plans next to Vince's map.
Vince looking worried lets out a huff "I'll be the distraction. Jake is there somewhere and who knows what trouble Helga has gotten into already. I can come in from further south and try to reach the pit. When the attention is on me that will give you a chance to get into the house from the rear. But you have to promise me, whatever happens to me get my wife and son out of here. Promise me you'll get them out safely!"
"We'll do our best, but please try not to get into too much trouble I'd much rather all of you be together," says Edith. "I could also still try the dragon. It would draw everyone out, and we could set up an ambush in his house for when he returns."
"I prefer Edith's dragon combined with Bogue's fire as a distraction as opposed to you running in there, Vince." Charisma lays a firm hand on his shoulder. "I don't quite trust you, if you'll forgive me my suspicions. Once a thief always a thief, and they have your bride and son. You could easily be compelled by emotion to make some counterproductive actions. Furthermore we are going to need you to identify this exsanguinated tooth fellow and that will be easier with you close by." Charisma tries to subdue a grin at her word play. She looks around to see if anyone else has acknowledged it and then gets back to business. "So shall we vote... On which distraction to use.. Dragon and fire? Or dumbwitted oaf?"
Charisma's wordplay totally goes unnoticed by Mystwaen. (But OOC, I think that was great wordplay!) "I think we need our power to be concentrated on the house, and Helga may already provide us some cover. I vote Vince as the distraction." Mystwaen looks over at Vince. "Can you describe Bloodfang to us so we know we're attacking the right thief?"
"Just... Attack them all... They are thieves after all." Bogue says, bored waiting for a decision, he has lit his pip with a low flame from his finger.
"I see your point" Vince says to Charisma "I couldn't say emotions wouldn't get in the way, but I can say getting my son and wife back are my highest priority and you all seem the best chance I've got... so... I won't cross you. I will abide by your groups decision. I only ask that we hurry. Helga could be ending up in the pit as we speak!"
Bogue smiles at the arcane antics.
Edith laughs “The bigger we can make the fire seem the better!”

"Looks like it's time to dance, " Charisma adjusts her pack and lowers herself to the ground to see if she can find any other snares or trigger lines.
Perception 5
Bogue chews a bit on his pipe before aiding in the next perception check with the Help action.

Charisma looks over Mystwaen's shoulder at the map. "I like that plan. Grab him first. It may help subdue the others."
