She seems a little let down by the answers "I wanted to join the brute squad but my Da wouldn't let me. It's so booooring here. But, I mean, I know you shouldn't just kill people, that's wrong" She perks up again after Mystwaen's answer "Yeah, there's going to be a lot of bad people right? And what about the frog witch? I mean, your gonna kill her right?"
Wil pipes up, "Look, my pops once told me 'people who do good get paid, and people who do bad get paid. It's best to do both.' Sometime's killin' is what needs to be done, and I think that our group will be pretty effective at it." He then leans in a little closer, "What about this Frog Witch though... I think I would like to pay her a visit."
"Maybe she just needs her prince charming to arrive and give her a smooch? Wil, you think we good pay you for that?" Charisma jests good naturally. "Honestly though what kind of threat could a witch named after a schoolboy's play thing be?"
"I think if she's big enough for the villagers to speak of her evil, she must be some sort of threat." Mystwaen turns back to the halfling girl. "You said you wanted to join the Brute Squad, right? Well, why don't you help us by telling us all you know of the frog witch?"
"You've never heard of the frog witch" she says a tilt to her head. "You know, the witch that lives by the lake in the woods? It's probably just a stupid story they tell kids but one time these people were staying here and they said they really saw her. They said she was all green and slimy and gross! And when she spoke she made these awful sounds that hurt their heads!" She shrugs "That's all I heard cause Da saw I was listening and told me to run off now"
Wil laughs a little to himself. "Well, perhaps her royal hermitess would be happy to help us remove the thieves from her beloved forest. I'm sure she isn't too happy about their presence. And, if she isn't too happy with our presence, well, then maybe we get to have some fun!" Wil looks at the Brute Squad. "The more I hear about these woods the more excited I get..."
"Thank you for this delicious spread and the inside scoop on the frog witch. We will be sure to pass back through her after we are done and tell you all about here from our firsthand encounter. " Charisma stands and gathers her things. "I'll meet you all outside. I think I saw some wild herbs growing out there amongst the weeds that I want to gather for our journey."
"Don't know about the rest of you, but the longer I sit here waiting the more anxious I'm getting. Let's see if we can't get this show started." He shifts nervously in his seat, looking almost like he needs to use the lavatory.
(I'm going to move us along. If anyone has anything else they wanted to do at the inn, just let me know and we'll time warp it)
Everyone gets their fill of food and it seems nothing else of any importance is to be discovered about the forest at the inn, so they head on out. With Charisma finishing gathering her herbs everyone proceeds to the forest gate.
They are met by a guard who recognizes them from the choosing. "Ho, Brute Squad! Good morning. Fine day for a fight huh?" He says while looking to the mostly clear blue sky. "The Prince has left a couple things for you to help get the job done. They're right over here." He waves to one of the other guards who brings over a small chest and opens it up. Inside the party finds... alchemy jug, amulet of the drunkard, rope of entanglement
"These should help if you get hurt or find anyone resisting too much. The gate will be left open behind you until nightfall. Hopefully you'll be able to ah, convince, everyone to leave by then. If for some reason you don't you'll be locked in until morning. We have strict orders not to open the gate after nightfall."
Charisma's eyes widen at the alchemy jug. "Would anyone mind if I carried this? I have some training in potions and the like so I may be able to put it to good use."
Wil calls up to the guards, "Thank you kindly, which way to the thieves? Do you see any campfire smoke or hear anyone loudly announcing that they are thieves around here?"
Edith waves as the guards greet them. She follows as everyone looks at the items brought forward. "These are very helpful, thank you!" she says looking at them curiously.
In response to WIl's question the guard says "Oh, huh. I would have thought you'd have that information already but no matter. Most of them should be pretty easy to find. There's a sizeable camp only about an hour walk into the forest down the main trail. I say camp but I guess it's really like a small town. There's a group of cabins, some tents, a few of them have horses. It's no secret they are there and no secret that they are up to no good. The problem is they are good at not getting caught, or leaving any evidence that leads back to them. I mean, sure, we arrest one of them now and again for some small crime but we can never get them on the big stuff" He leans in and lowers his voice "Most of us guards think there's plenty of nobles who make use of their services so we think there's some political pressure not to look too hard, if ya know what I mean"
Straightening back up he continues "Now there are some loner types who you'll have to search for. I'm sure there are plenty who don't like the company of others. I'm afraid I can't help you much with where they'd be though. Some of them in the town might now, or like you said, you can look for signs once you're in the forest. I've been told you're supposed to clear out the whole forest, including whatever creatures are lurking about in there too. As to what all you'll find I can't say for sure but we did have a run in on the edge of the mountain few months back with a bugbear. Could be more of em, could have just made it's way over the mountain. I can say that the mountain has a bad feeling about it and not even the thieves tread too close to it."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Well, thank you for being so forthcoming." Wil then looks back at his group, "Shall we take a vote? The way I see it, we have three options: 1) we head straight for their thieves villiage and assess the situation once we get there. 2) we sniff around for the loners and mercilessly torture them until they give us all the information we need to continue forward. or 3) we find the witch and see if we can sway her to our side in this quest.... If we don't want to take a vote we can let the dice decide..." and he takes a small die from his dice set "1-2 is the village, 3-4 is the loners and 5-6 is the witch? What shall it be?" He then tosses his to the ground and quickly covers it with his foot.

Edith just listens to everyone talk while finishing her muffin.

Bogue chimes in from over his pipe, he has a way of being unnoticed in a group.
"That amulet is interesting..."
Wil calls up to the guards, "Thank you kindly, which way to the thieves? Do you see any campfire smoke or hear anyone loudly announcing that they are thieves around here?"
(One thing I forgot to note. There's also an empty pint sized flask, kind of needed in combo with the jug and amulet)
