Everyone successfully pulls themselves up as a blast of lightning fills the lower half of the corridor ... except Rastaris.
OOC: Rastaris, make a Dexterity saving throw.
Unable to lift himself high enough to clear the lightning, Rastaris is caught in the blast. He sees the runes disappear from the doors as their magic is expended ... perhaps the last thing he sees.
The rest of the party sees Rastaris fall. The force of the lightning shatters both doors, revealing two 10 by 20 rooms facing each other. There are four narrow beds in each room. In the eastern room, leaning against one of the beds, appears to be a skeleton wearing shredded red robes and a pointy red hat. A pack, a satchel, and a large are scattered around the skeleton.
In the southern wall of the room, facing the skeleton, is a large hole in the wall. Part of the wall appears to have been excavated, creating a very narrow tunnel. Broken shovels and pickaxes can be found within the tunnel. The sound of running water is coming from the tunnel.
He falls prone and is dying from the electric shock.
Mithrokk sees the wizard fall and rushes to his aid. He lets go of the pitons and attempts to heal him. Laying his hands on the wizard, he concentrates and wills some life energy into his limp frame.
OOC: Activating paladin Lay on Hands ability for 2 hp
Rast sees his life choices , each crossroad, each branch leading to different conclusions. He tries to grasp at the thread, to see the possibilities, the could-have-beens. As his hand nears the fragment of fate, he is suddenly brought back to the land of the living.
His entire body is in pain but that is a good thing since it meant he was alive.
"Thank you Mithrokk. You pulled me back before it was too late."
"Aye, wizard. Ye'll thank the Silverbeard for his blessing. He'll want ye to remember this day," replies the dwarf.
Mithrokk then turns towards the room and sees the skeleton. Concentrating again, he tries to reach out to his surroundings and sense the presence of evil.
Lathalas searches the western room but finds nothing of interest there except mattresses and pillows.
Mithrokk activates his Divine Sense, but no evil emanations can be seen from the skeleton or the items in the room.
Alianna and the rest of the party hear the clink of coin as the Mage Hand lifts the satchel, followed by a crash as the satchel rips, spilling gold coins to the floor of the room.

Rastaris was always a weak child. And now his muscles fail him yet again. And his injuries from the rats make his movements slow.
Time seems to go slow and fast for him at once. He sees his life flash before him forward and backward.

Rast slowly gets to his feet. Massaging his shoulder and hands which still feel as if pins were being poked into his skin.
"It seems that this inn's small cellar just got a little bit bigger."
"It seems that the wizard the innkeeper hired was part of this scheme. The question now is 'What lies beyond this hole?'."

Lath, seeing that Rast is recovering from his shock, enters the western room.
OOC: If there is nothing of interest, he will then exit the room, take the pitons, return them to Rastaris, then enter the eastern room.
"Whew, those beds look pretty inviting after all this tension... Rastaris may want to rest up? Any more traps, though?"
Farnakees retrieves the pitons and hands them back to Rastaris if there is no other danger evident.
"Welcome back to the land of the living."
Alianna asks the Mage Hand to retrieve the satchel.
"There is still so much to do. No time to be dead now."
He asks Lathalas if it is safe to enter the room.
