OOC - Ayuh...
Alianna tries to bluff the orc, but the savage humanoid has lived on the borderlands between the wilderness and civilization for years. Its senses attuned to danger, it turns to its right and barks out an order to attack.
OOC: Since this is our "origin story", I have downloaded "The Crystal Shard" and have started reading it again. Though sadly, it seems I act like Regis the Halfing. :(

From behind a rock formation, a third orc shows itself to fire an arrow at Mithrokk, then retreats again behind cover.
OOC - The orc is in J11, behind the rock formation. He moves out to I11 to fire his longbow, then retreats behind J11 again. 9 plus 1 = 21.
OOC - Whoohoo, a crit -- the damned goliath is beside Mithrokk, though. I'll refrain from rolling and celebrating until I know if the goliath uses his protection power, though.
That's fine. I'd rather not tempt Fate (Pun intended).
I'll just move before Mithrokk.
Rastaris detests the humanoid races. He hates those races which prey upon the weak....like himself.
Rastaris casts Mage Armor on himself. With careful precision Rastaris chants: I draw upon the fate's fickle charm, Deflect, reflect, redirect all harm.
"Thank ye, Farnakees. I'll be returning the favour to ye when ye needs it."
Mithrokk takes the Dash action to move to J10 and takes cover behind the rock formation. Movement is from starting point H3 to H4-I5-J6-K7-K8-K9-J10 (35 feet)
OOC to DM: Am assuming the rock formation straddling J10 and J11 provides cover to both Mithrokk and the orc in J11?

By the Power of Assignment (Pao said to roll for him to keep things moving) Lathalas Initiave : 18 + 3 = 10
Farnakees Initiative : Minimum of 5 +2 = 7 and 5 +2 = 7
OOC - Ayuh...

Orc Initiative - 18 plus 1 = 19.
OOC: Test 4 + 2 = and 5 + 2 =

OOC - Mithrokk, make another roll. Initiative is a Dexterity check.
OOC: Classic!! I be Bruenor Battlehammer!! DO you have an ePub file? If so, can you share with all?
From post #1105
To the DM: Is there cover behind me I can duck behind? Any rock formation or tree?
OOC - Sorry, slow Internet connection. I saw the first roll, but not the second roll after you edited.
OOC -The orcs act first ...
With a war cry, the orc by the campfire attacks. What looked from afar to be a spear is actually a javelin, which he hurls at Farnakees.
OOC - Farnakees is in G2. Tracing a path from the orc, he is 25 feet away, which is still short range for the javelin. 7 plus 1 = 2.
The goliath easily dodges the attack. The orc remains where he is, reaching down to grab another javelin.
OOC: Clarification - Orcs (19) act before Rastaris (22)?
The orc occupying the high ground sees that Lathalas also has a longbow, so aims at him to remove the threat.
OOC - Lathalas is 45 feet away, also withing short range of the longbow. 5 plus 1 = 14.
The arrow comes dangerously close, whizzing by the elf's head, but still misses. The orc remains where he is.

OOC - Mithrokk is next.
OOC - Ooops. I thought you had a 7. All right, Rastaris acts first, then I modify the orc actions given above.
Rastaris moves 10 feet back and then drops Prone.
OOC: Can we have the initiative order, please?
Farnakees uses his shield to protect the Paladin as a Reaction
OOC: Can I use a reaction even if my turn hasn't come up?
OOC: We have roused the Elf from his meditative trance. :)
OOC: Farnakee's - you mean Mithrokk. And why haven't we had a character like this before...Protection is amazing.
"Thank ye, Farnakees. I'll be returning the favour to ye when ye needs it."
