Kathleen finishes eating a bit later and says to her companions, "I'm going to turn in for the night. Going to try and get some sleep. See you all next morning."
She will go to the room assigned to her and get into bed. She's going to try and sleep tonight, as she usually does when she stops in a town for a night.
@DM: In this world, can Elves sleep if they want to or are they only capable of Trance? Either way Kathleen will try and sleep like all the other non-elf races instead of Trancing.
Assuming you all go to bed: You finish the nights rest and gain benefits of a long rest, not that it would really be necessairy i think. When you leave your rooms you find your requested items infront of the door: A bundle of 30 arrows for Kathleen, 3 sacks for Johan and a quill, some paper and a small jar with ink for Leelan. There are also some rations prepared for all of you.
You go to the town gate, as discused with Farcan. He is already prepared, together with his small group of soldiers: with him there is another Elf which you, by the clothes, recognize as Corvin, and two male Humans which you assume must be two of the Gallek brothers. "There is the reeinforcement! Great to see you!" As you approach Farcans troop gives a quick salute.
Kathleen falls back on her military experience and salutes back. She asks Farcan, "So what's the plan? Do we know where they are based? What about their numbers or their capabilities."
"They buildt their stronghold around a cave to the north. It is not heavily reeinforced and there are about 15 of them." says the older of the two Gallek. "Our brother went followed their trail and discovered their hideout. He catched an arrow, but made his way back." Says the other brother. "Follow me" says Farcan and leads you to a small hut buildt adjacent to the wall. Inside there is a small simple office in one part, in the other a weapon rack empty besides a short sword, a longsword and two longbows. Next to the rack there are two scale mail shirts, some solid boots and two helmets. "If there is someting you could use, feel free. Now, they reside in a cave north of here. they have fortified the area with a simple wooden barricade. they seem to have two standing guard. If we get those without triggering an alarm, get inside the cave while they are sleeping, we should have an easy time."
The travel goes on uninterrupted. You walk on foot, first on the road, then a path and finally untamed forrest. You take a quick break at noon and its in the late afternoon when Farcan stops the group and informs: "We are now about one hour away from the stronghold. I'd say we wait until the sun set and then commence our approach."
Kathleen raises a concern regarding this. "Correct me if I'm wrong but goblins can see in the darkness much like Elves, can't they? If we attack them in the dark, wouldn't we just be putting those of us who can't see in the dark at a disadvantage?"
"Do you expect them to sleep during the day? You are right, it will disadvantage some of us, but the advantages outweight the disadvantages if you ask me."
Kathleen asks, "I'm honestly not sure... do they sleep during the day or the night? If they sleep during the night then I agree that attacking at night would be a good idea."
"Goblins, like us Elfs and Humans have to sleep at some point. And while they see better at night than a human, their vision is not perfect in darkness."

I mean, nobody usually tries to give up the more efficient Trance to sleep normally so it's up in the air on how you want to do it.
Anyway, Kathleen will sleep in the bed instead of Trancing tonight.

Kathleen nods and says, "I like this plan." She will also go with the group to the cave.
"A most brilliant scheme" Leelan says in approval. The little gnome follows along to the cave.

(Would this be something I’ve written down in the notes for my almanach? If so, can I roll to see if I have it in my notes?)
“I believe I can even the odds in that regard. You’ll all be able to see in the dark, so do not worry.” Johan gives a sly grin.
