Anakis, the drunk follows the noise back towards the entrance of the alley. "There you are my dear," she says, but when she doesn't find you, she rejoins her friends, and they continue on their drunken way, singing loudly as they go.
Aluzira, the bears stand their ground, sniffing the air as you move aside. One of the bears, nervous and uncertain of your intentions, lets out a low, threatening moan.
Aluzira, you can feel the ground squish beneath your feet as you travel off the trail and around where the bears are standing. Once you have come up level with them, you can hear them click their tongues and grunt to each other as they continue on their way up the trail to forage in the farmers' fields. The trail is easy to find again, and you can resume your journey. After walking through the swamp for a few more hours, you arrive in Steepgulch well into the night.
The hamlet itself consists of a collection of buildings that forms the center of an isolated community of farmers and other simple folk that make their livelihood in the bog. It gets its name from a natural cleft in a low ridge of land that separates the upper bog, immediately around the city to the north, from the lower bog to the south. Water from the upper bog drains through this cleft, "The Gulch", as it's known, down into the lower bog, powering a mill and providing water that isn't stagnant at the very least.
Anakis, you manage to find another dry spot in which to wait through the rainy night, but about an hour later, your rest is disturbed once again by the sound of boots marching. A patrol squad of the city watch halts in the street as their leader approaches you. "You there," she shouts, "where do you belong?"
Anakis sobs to the patrol leader. "My daddy was hitting mummy and I was scared, so I ran away. I found this dry spot to stay and I'll go home in the morning to make sure mummy is ok and get my things." She points in down the way.
"You are to go there immediately," states the patrol leader. "We can't have children running away just because they don't like everything their parents do at home. Which ward do you live in? We'll take you there ourselves."
Yes, she's holding a torch which was handed to her by one of the watchmen before she approached. By its light, which glints off the breastplate armor she wears, she's revealed to be a youthful looking woman of imposing stature. She wears a longsword at her side.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Anakis will use Thaumaturgy to cause the torch to suddenly get really bright, like a flash bang, to blind the patrolling guards momentarily. She will run and hide - she's used to evading patrols living on the streets - and will find a place to hole up for the night where she won't be disturbed again Stealth:11).
Once settled into her hiding place, she will sleep and prepare to wake just before dawn to make her way to the gates.
Before he settles down for the night, Tarek wonders how Aluzira and Anakis are faring out on their own. He offers a prayer to Pelor, asking to aid them if they are in need of protection.

(DM question - how do you want to run combat? & will my Thaumaturgy and everything from previous post still apply?)
It looked as though Anakis was about to cast a spell. Has she changed her mind about what she's trying to accomplish? Since she has won the Inititative, she can now cast thaumaturgy and move up to 30 feet before the watch leader and her squad have a chance to react, or she can do something else with her turn.
The watch leader is 30 feet away from Anakis, and the rest of her men are another 70 feet farther away for a total of 100 feet. Aside from a few torches, one of the men is carrying a bullseye lantern which is pointed in your direction, casting dim light to a point 20 feet behind you.
Rowan, as you come out into the street, you hear what sounds like some kind of commotion starting nearby. By following the sound, you can arrive at the location once combat has been resolved.
The bullseye lantern is too far away to use Thaumaturgy to dim & therefore it’s not much use to use it on the leader’s torch either. Anakis could also use the same cantrip to make her voice boom & let out a massive scream to wake everyone & bring them into the street to slow the guards down, but that may take too long to have the desired effect.
So instead Anakis will use her 30ft movement away from the patrol, & then her action to dash another 30ft. Depending on the street layout, she would zig-zag her route - ie take a left or right turn onto the first street, then right/left onto the next - to aid in breaking line of sight.
The watch leader gives chase, ordering her men to follow. She keeps pace 30 feet behind you, shouting, "Stop! On the authority of the Reeve, I order you!"
Behind her, the watchmen obey her call, but the slickness of the wet cobblestones causes many of them to fall as they begin running, including the one carrying the lantern. Two of the watchmen manage not to fall and are still 100 feet behind you as you run. The rest that have fallen scramble to their feet and give chase from 115 feet back, leaving you still visible within the dim light of both the lantern and the leader's torch.
Aluzira tries to sneak quietly around the two bears.

Aluzira tries to look as unthreatening as possible as she passes by and in a calm voice says “I’m just passing through,”

The watch leader's eyes narrow as you begin to cast your spell. "Cast a spell on me, will you? Men!" she shouts as she moves in to grab you.
