Anakis joins Aluzira as they scour the wall for the now recognisable camouflaged buttons within the wall, running their hands over the wall as they do (Investigation: 13).
Despite Aluzira's helpful suggestion, it takes a long time to find the mechanism to open the door, but eventually the wall slides open, revealing a medium sized room full of piles of coal. It appears to have once been a coal storeroom but has seen better days. The floor, where lumps of coal are absent, is covered with something that looks like soil, but that is formed in many places into elongated shapes two to three inch long. It's soft and squishy to walk on. On the other side of the room is a door.

"We're going to walk out of here looking completely covered in soot and dirt," Anakis says as she runs her hand through one of the elongated shapes of coal dust. Then she laughs and wipes some on her face, "On the plus side, it'll make us harder to see in the dark!" She moves forward to the next door and listens a moment before trying to open it (Perception: 10).

“It’s so strange,” Aluzira says bending down to peer at the lines of soil like stuff. “I wonder what caused it to be like this.” She looks at it closer hoping to see if she can tell what exactly it is.
The substance on the floor looks almost exactly like a fine soil, but the small regular shapes suggest that it might have been deposited here by some animal of the creeping variety. Closer observation also reveals many small markings that suggest the tracks of a multi-legged creature about a foot long.
No sound comes through the door, and when it is opened, you can see a ten-foot wide hall going in either direction. To the right, the hall bends to the right after about thirty feet. This looks like the left-hand turn you saw from the fork before you went through the secret door, seen from another direction.
To the left, the hall continues straight. About sixty feet away there's a wide opening to the left, and on the edge of your vision, Anakis, you can see that the hall turns to the right.

"Oooh, it looks like there's another room up ahead. On the left," Anakis points down the hall, "Let's check it out and then we can continue straight. The hall turns off further down." She creeps down the hall, watching as always (Stealth: 7 and Perception: 4).
When you get to the opening on the left, you can hear the distant sound of flowing water down a dark, twenty-foot wide tunnel that curves to the right after a short way, blocking your ability to see any farther.
"Hmm, more water down there," Anakis points down the hallway, a little disappointed, "I was hoping to find some treasure. Do you want to go explore down near the water, or keep going ahead?"
The rest of the party agrees with seeing what's around the next corner, and when it's approached, you can see that after thirty feet, the wide hallway ends in a large door.

Anakis creeps up to the door and listens as intently as she can, trying to find if something is on the other side, but hoping that nothing except treasure is (Perception: 10).
While listening intently with your ear pressed to the door, you hear the sounds of several large creatures moving about, scratching themselves, and making rasping noises at one another. Unfortunately, it seems that one of them has become aware of your presence on the other side of the door, and you can hear its heavy breathing as it sniffs under the door and bumps against it with its head.

By the way, earlier during second breakfast, I forgot we were using the Gritty Realism variant for healing and rolled a hit die for Tarek. Instead, I'll say that Nicolas expended a healer's kit on Tarek, restoring, 8 hit points.
(OOC - All good. I'm totally fine with not doing gritty realism if you want haha)
Anakis' eyes widen as she realises that something big is on the other side of the door. She slowly turns to the others and whispers, "There's something there... and it's big..."
Aluzira quietly reaches for her daggers. “Shall we go in? Or turn back on another path? They could be friendly but they might also not be,” she adds nervously.
Anakis keeps leaning on the door, "It's just sniffing, so it might be friendly? Who knows, we might even get our own big lizards to ride like those other people."
“That’s always a possibility,” Aluzira says nodding in agreement. “Perhaps one of us could open the door and the rest of us either prepare to befriend them or defend ourselves?”
"Hmm, well I'm not very good with animals," Anakis says as she scratches her head, then smiles, "But I am pretty good at convincing people to do stuff."
Aluzira returns the smile nodding her head, “I can agree with that. That last part I mean, you seem to do rather well with animals. Perhaps the two of us together? I’m not the best with words but I could [action]help[action/] you by handing out some food and things of that sort.”
(DM Question - I'm guessing during this conversation that the creature on the other side of the door is still there and we can hear it? It hasn't changed tactics - ie. moves away, or tries to push through the door?)
Anakis nods and stands up, straightening her clothes, although at this point they're covered in soot and dust so it doesn't really matter. She opens the door a crack, to peek through, "Hey little buddies. Just a friendly, not-so-tasty tiefling here. We just want to be friends and maybe pass through your little home here, if that's ok?"
