Preparing to jump in the hole after Driver (he wasn’t going to let him fight that thing alone) Drys stops at the lips and squints down into the gloom. Looking back at the group, he assessed their injuries and calls out.
”Lady, could you grab some rope from the wagon? Don’t have any on me right now, and I’m a fair bit more beat up than I was planning to be at supper.”
He attempts a chuckle before wincing and holding his side for a second.
”Hold on Driver! We’re gonna get some rope to pull you out! It’ll just be a minute or two so sit tight!”
Drys sits down a little from the edge of the hole, and tries to find a position that doesn’t hurt as much as the others.
”I don’t think we’ll be able to lift this thing up and out in one piece! Sort of surprised to find it here though! We should check out where it came from!”
Silas will head over to Drys, quite beaten himself. Silas is moving slowly and as he moves he takes his wrist and wipes the blood from his mouth and spits. He will pull out the rope from his bag and hand it to Drys.
"Well, that was a bit more than I expected out of today. Here is some rope." He puts his hand on Drys shoulder and will use lay on hands for 10 hp back to Drys. Still kind of dazed, he does the same for himself (10) "I'll use the rest on Driver then hopefully we can have a good night's rest without disturbance."
The group throws down a rope and collectively begin to lift up Driver as he walks up the slope while holding on.
Silas dispenses his healing, everyone takes a moment to catch their breath. One by one the townspeople begin to come out of their homes, hesitantly walking closer to you. The soot covered workers, the Halfling running the tavern, other humans and half orcs dresses in plain clothes. One of the workers is visibly choked up, knowing his friends are either trapped in the mine or dead. “I don’t know where you lot came from, but ..... you saved us, you’re heroes! Thank you, thank you. I’m sure this town would’ve been destroyed if it wasn’t for you.” One by one each townsperson comes up and relays similar sentiments. Some crying, some stoic. Others begin to rush over to the mine and begin trying to haul debris out and clear a path while shouting for the ones down below.
Breathing easier from the healing, Drys nods his thanks to Silas before looking around at the people thanking them and shrugs.
“It was the right thing to do.”
Gathering the group together, Drys smiles excitedly while saying quietly,
”Well I have to admit, that’s one way to get favors in this town. Now, on to the next step. We ask around about the Crimson Pride, anything to do with the prince, and talk to those job postings. We may be heroes now, but we still don’t have a lot of money, and it’s not like we got paid for that thing.”
The group continues making a bit of small talk with the towns people as the ones the begin working to clear the mine pause momentarily to watch Driver hauling things out twice as fast as everyone else without seeming to slow down.
Everyone except Driver (because he is busy) three humanoids come up quickly at quick pace on horse back. Though they all have different styles of armor, they all have matching components. Clearly working for a certain order. Hopping down, the first one a half Orc in heavy plate armor and a war-hammer on his side, shield on his back. Gold wing like emblems etched on his helmet and gauntlets. “ We saw the black smoke and heard the rumbling from the distance. We made haste to lend aid. Is everyone okay?” He speaks eloquently but very straight forward . You get the sense he holds some station of power.
The townspeople begin to retell the story while pointing all of you out.

Noticing the creatures of station arrive and the townspeople start to point them out, Silas nudges Drys, "This could be a problem. I will try to divert their attention to more the more pressing matters at hand. Someone get Driver."
He will try and get lost in the crowds and yell out. "Help! They need help! Help get the trapped miners out!" hoping to incite the group to change focus and direct the 3 creatures to focus on saving the miners.
If Silas’ plan doesn’t work, Drys will try to be as inconspicuous as possible. Hanging his head, he glances over to Lady and whispers,
“Any chance you can walk a bit away? I don’t want us all to be seen together in case they figure it out. I’d do it, but honestly I am actually very sore from that fight.”
Drys is trying to split the group up so there’s no connection to the Crimson Pride.

The half Orc takes note of Silas shouting towards them to aid the unearthing process. As the two follow him towards the mine, the group notices the others to be a drow and a earth genasi. The shadows and dust trailing the respectively. As they approach close to Drys and Driver the half Orc puts a hand on Drys’s shoulder. “I hear you did some good work, Sir. Tell me, what are the names of the heroes of Rorikstad?” He begins to pick up stones as the others take shovels and begin to work.

Silas gives half orc a look, still kind of dazed from the fight. "Heroes? What a title that is!" he gives an amusing chuckle."We just happened to be in the right place at the right time and able to help. Truthfully sir, we are a brand new group, we just arrived and met up today and then this happens!" he continues to lift rocks and pull out rubble. As he is huffing and puffing, "As far as names go, we hadent really even gotten that far into our conversations with each other when the shaking started. So I'm not so sure about the others, but my name is Vallin."

The Half Orc stops his work momentarily “you mean to tell me the lot of four random people gathered together, fought with bravery and teamwork soldiers work at for years to achieve? And you didn’t get their names? Well Vallin, either you’re luckiest sum’***** I’ve met in my life or the gods favored you today. Ever think about joining the Colderi Dominion? We could use whatever power you’ve been granted. Pays good, no one to mess with you. Word is the Crimson Pride has been around here..... could use you to help hunt them down too. Taking this dragon down, those mercs should be a piece of cake. Where are are the others you worked with, I would like to thank them each individually.” He begins to look around.
Silas stands up and dusts his hand off. " Well I would like to think it's a little bit of both. I'll tell ya what, I'll see what I can do to round them up, you guys keep up helping these folks. "He will clap him on the shoulder and head out. If he can motion to Driver with a head nod to get him out of there. He will go find Drys and Lady.
As he gathers the group together he says "So I was able to make nice with that group of 3 that came into town. They are part of a group called the Colderi Dominion. The orc wants to thank us personally for what we did. Here is the thing....I told him my name is Vallin and that I didn't get your names as we had just met and then the shaking happened. He did invite us to join them to hunt down the Crimson Pride, they said there would be money in it. Might be a good idea to make nice and then decline the offer and be on our way, or we could leave now while everyone is distracted. Your call." He nods to Drys.
Drys looks conflicted about this choice. Seeing that everyone is looking to him he suddenly asks,
”You know I have no clue what’s happening to us either right? I’m just trying to figure this out same as you. I appreciate that you see me as the leader because I was before, but I need your opinions as well so we can get through this together without dying. I think that, Vallin? Vallin here has talked to them, and they seemed to believe him, but they think they can take on the Crimson Pride, and I have no clue how good at acting we all are. I figure we need to get as much information as we can from this town, and book it. Maybe to Solitude on that guard duty, but we need out of this town as soon as we can without raising suspicion. So today and tonight are no good, but tomorrow we might be able to. Any thoughts? Please, we’re all in this together, so all options are welcome at this point.”
He looks to each of the three faces, waiting to consider whatever plans they have.
As the group decides on what to do they realize that even though they made it out of eyesight of the others, it’s safe to assume that the half Orc and others kept tabs on the group coming together and general area where you went.
Lady does her best to hide her crossbow and ultimately makes it look like she has no idea how to handle it. Joining the other she frowns looking at Drys, "I don't think any of us have any ideas but maybe this other group the Colderi Dominion was it... Maybe they could tell us where we've been and maybe that would be a clue to what happened? Maybe?"
Turning to Silas she asks, "Do you think the Orc's would believe if we told them the beast was injured before hand? You know, down play our strength so if anything happens they have underestimated us."
“I think downplaying is more suspicious than our other options. Who are these people, anyways? Delay them somehow and find out from the locals. Time will be our ally.” Driver is struggling to see the armed people for a moment before he flushed his system of the alchemical fires burning within. His muscles weaken somewhat (although they’re still pretty huge) and his vision clears from the light sensitivity.
Silas thinks while the others Express their ideas and concerns,
"I know, I'm sorry, must be an old habit. Guard duty does sound good. I agree let's not down play it completely, but take it with some humbleness. Nothing outlandish. You will need to think of names and quick. I think our saving grace is our attitude toward the situation and the fact that we dont have the other one with us anymore. We can step into this new life if we play it right. Lady, you have healing right, maybe you can assist the injured? They are watching us so we can't run Lets just try to go introduce ourselves and get to the inn and beds as quickly as we can. Get your names ready and let's do this."
Now Vallin for the moment takes a deep breath and starts walking toward the half orc with the group.
Watching Silas walk back to the half-orc, Drys turns to the others.
“Honestly, the wanted posters don’t have you as part of the group Driver, and Lady Piper, you were described as a female dwarf with no name given, so you can go with the names you already have. Just call me (he thinks for a second, looking around like I am in real life) Fletcher.”
Drys sizes up the Colderi leader, noting his armor, weapons, and anything that might help if it came to a fight before turning back to the group.
“Remember, we only met recently. Try to find out whatever we can about ourselves from this group and the town. After those people in the mine are good, let’s plead exhaustion and head to our rooms so we can finish planning.”
Unless someone has something to add to the temporary plan, Drys claps his hands together and says,
”Now, let’s go introduce ourselves to the people after our heads shall we?”
Driver let’s go of the lance and looks around. Then calls up. “I could use some time to recuperate!”
