Banzo feels it's close enough to investigate. He sends his familiar Zeno, a black and white tuxedo pattern cat to scout ahead about 90 to 95 feet.
Zeno's Perception: 21 (adv. on smell)
Banzo will also use every fourth action to see and hear through Zeno's senses. That way he has three rounds to notice his immediate surroundings so that when he is blind and deaf on the fourth he navigate or just stop and catch up on one of the other rounds when he isn't blind or deaf.

"A rightful place awaits you in the Realms Above, in the Land of the Great Light. Come in peace, and live beneath the sun again, where trees and flowers grow."
— The message of Eilistraee to all decent drow.
"Run thy sword across my chains, Silver Lady, that I may join your dance.”
Tzedaka glances ahead, "could be noting, could be Hill Trools." When they get a bit closer, she may float up for a better view, depending on what Zeno sees.
Guided by the small cat you are soon able to confirm with your eyes what he saw, as you come over the hill you confirm the plume of smoke is from a burnt out cabin.
An old human man dressed for mining is propped up against a barrel, an arrow in his eye and an axe by his side.
“See if anyone else is inside, I vill examine Dee body.” (perception on body and weapons (? Anything distinct about the arrow and ax?). “Keep your eyes out for otters.”

Approaching the old man he suddenly startles to consciousness, " Bandits.......four of them.......headed east......took my gold and food.....but not all.....Check the barrel.....", he stops speaking suddenly and begins to seize before rattling out a final breath and lying still.
Banzos sees the cabin has been completely empties out and ransacked, but hearing the old mans final words heads to the water barrel and tilts it revealing a cavity beneath it.
Within are a fist sized gold nugget, a bone handled whittling knife, a small vial of what looks like water and a translucent crystal on a gold chain.
Banzo reveals the items he's discovered to everyone, "What do you make of this?" as he gestures to the items, "Some of this could be very useful." this last is said as he picks up the translucent crystal on a gold chain, looking more closely at it.

Banzo examines the necklace for a while....he has seen something similar before.
Acts as a Ring of Mind Shielding. Added to Party Inventory.
While focused on the crystal necklace Banzo adds, "This could shield someone's thoughts from being read and..."
A sudden expression of recognition crosses his face, "It may or not have some of the remnants of the former owner... it would require attunement to find out."
He then puts the necklace on and waits to see what the others do about the remaining items, not wanting anything to go to waste.

As he is dying, Tzedaka will try to heal him (Lay on hands 5)/ medicine. If this is the end for him she will do some final rights on him.
(Assuming he died) Holding the dead man in her hands, "I can speak to chim now if you vant and get answers, or we can pursue dee bandits." (OOC: Speak with dead??)
"As a wizard I value knowledge highly Tzedaka but as Herman points out if we are going after them the longer we delay the colder the trail and our chances of catching up to them."
Banzo also takes the small vial of liquid (water?) if no one else does. Afterwards he goes back outside and and searches around for any signs of the bandits.

Banzo offers by way of trying to explain he values both choices but in this moment he feels tracking the bandits outweighs speak with the dead.
Underneath that thought, deeper within his psyche is a burning hatred for necromancy, or more specifically the misuse of necromancy which is why his anger flared when setting out to hunt the necromancer, and maybe now it's tipping his decision toward tracking and away from the necromancy spell. Even though he trusts Tzedaka to use it he can't help but think of the necromancer out there using his spells for evil.
He takes a few deep breaths using calming techniques to regain his focus.
"I wonder if these bandits work for the necromancer or know anything of him?"

Following the miners directions the companions head east into the hills, there are no signs of bandits as they travel. Coming down a slope you see three naked lizard-folk crouched over a leather satchel on the ground; they have eyes which seem to focus independently on bulging stalks and long curled tails.
Tzedaka, still dressed in her grey priestess of Libra robes, floats forward slowly, releasing a gentle comforting aura of radiant heat, her eyes, completely yellow with black slanted pupils.
She smiles, Draconic: "Challow my friends. Ve are not a threat." She moves closer, right next to them (Hold action: sanctuary if any attack on her), in common: "and what is it you chave found?"

what now? we can jump into an ambush, I know, but the more we wait, the more any track will fade...

"Be alert! Whoever did this might still be near!"
Herman lets the others do their investigation while he remains on the lookout, with the lighting javelin at hand

Nothing approaches during this time....

The nugget and the knife appear to be mundane......the clear liquid seems to be non-magical also.

Mh...it could be a good idea to talk with the poor fellow but we'd loose time, on our way, I say
