Banzo moves slowly over to Tzedaka, keeping his hands at his sides to try and appear non-threatening to the lizard-folk, "Maybe it wasn't bandits after all?" he asks Tzedaka, nodding in the direction of the lizard-folk.

"A rightful place awaits you in the Realms Above, in the Land of the Great Light. Come in peace, and live beneath the sun again, where trees and flowers grow."
— The message of Eilistraee to all decent drow.
"Run thy sword across my chains, Silver Lady, that I may join your dance.”
Tzedaka smiles, still completely non threatening. "Dee man ve saw said four, Chere are but three." She looks back at the Lizard-men, (Draconic) "Is there anotter?" (Her eyes still yellow, with black slitted lizard like pupils)
The creatures scales flash a number of bright warning colours as Tzedaka speaks but they make no aggressive moves.
Hunching down they look around as she queries but do not answer, they each grab a handful of what looks like dried meat from the satchel and shove it into their mouths.
Banzo and Herman recall the Chameleonites they fought in the Moonstone Hills some time back alongside Brocc, Shalana , Zeltheris and Hatch.....though these appear to be less war-like and are not accompanied by a large angry dinosaur.....and their is no halfling caravan in evidence.
Tzedaka pulls out some food and puts it on the ground near her. She then sits down, as non threatening. As she can be. “Please have some of this food as well.”
When Tzedaka sits up her picnic Banzo will sit next to her leaning slightly forward so as to not fall over on his shell. He will also take out a ration and place it next to the other one.

The strange creatures focused on the offered food then looked at each other and tossed the satchel to Tzedaka before shoving all of the food into their wide mouths in one gulp.
They then stood and began to walk off, their colours changing to match the background as they did so....
"Well... that went better than I expected." Banzo turns his attention to the satchel. "Did they leave anything of interest?"

Peeking into the satchel it appears to be a battered messengers bag though of who it may have belonged to there is no sign........possibly it was one of the miners possessions that was taken and discarded or some other traveller dropped it.
Within is a waterskin, a set of brass keys and a wax sealed vellum scroll.
"It looks like a messenger's bag." Banzo says and then after peeking at the contents, "hey, there's a scroll." and Banzo will examine it more closely to try and determine if he has ever seen the seal before.
Investigation: 21

The seal seems a rustic and hurriedly made one but seems to be the town council seal of the Grimmund Town Council.......pulling back the edge of the vellum slightly it appears to be addressed to Helen's House in Zengis and signed by someone named Morn Preeler.

Banzo hesitates and asks his friends.
"Should I open it? After all it doesn't belong to me."

" I hope this finds you well and this lad does his duty.....I doubt I will make it back to you. Dark forces dog my trail even now as I traverse The Forest of Night......I believe the Forest itself has turned dark cutting off Grimmund and the other settlements from Sardath......my young companion does not agree stating the Forest has not turned but something has come here bringing evil with it."
" I know not who is right. If this message does find you I would call in my debt to have the Red Claws sent to my side. If it dinds someone else.....then I hope they take pity upon us."
Regards,
You Old Friend.
All the Companions know the Forest of the Night and the City of Sardath lie to the east and North East respectively, Grimmund is likely one of several smaller communities within the Forest.
Herman knows the Red Claws are a mercenary crew out of Zengis.
Tzedaka looks up, concerned as she hears the message. (Her eyes are back to their brilliant blue color.)
"Iif dis message bears any trutt, it may be vise for us to investigate." She considers for a moment. "Eit is very poosibel dat vhatever is occurring at dee Black Tower is impacting dee Dark Forest." Her eyes close for a moment, (OOC: IS THIS CORRECT?) "I believe dee Tower is on route to dee forest, so vee should be able to determine if dere is a relation."
"And forget Zengis all together?! The Red Claws are mercenaries, this fellow must have (had) a real debt to collect to call upon a little army... and a huge concern, it seems..."
Ooc: in order to decide the correct route we should know, if any of us can tell, how far is any of these locations
