As Hatch pushes on the immense double doors of the building part-way up Armoury Lane, which seems lined with a large number of smaller metal-working and smithy shops he takes note of the sign over the huge doors and the sheer size of the building compared to the others here.
As the iron bound doors are pulled open and the companions enter they see a huge dirt floored room, with a great anvil and hundreds of hammers and a stone forge which takes up a quarter of the room, suddenly it seems part of the room itself moves and a massive form looms out of the shadows, a hulking one-eyed titan some 15 ft tall regards you balefully from its single orb.
" Oh, Well hello there! Welcome to Cy's. How can I help you today."
Rufus takes a quick step back and gulps as he fights down the fear of the memory of the battle with the behemoth. He nods at the large figure and mutters, "Good day!"
Rufus catches himself as he starts at the proprietor's size and then hears his statement. He smiles up at the gargantuan smith as he says, "I believe one of my comrades was interested in perusing your wares. I myself tend to rely on my natural charm to avoid an unpleasantness and barring that my two swift feet to carry me away from danger." He flashes a friendly smile up at the cyclopean smith as he finishes his statement.
"I would like some tougher, more protective armor," Hatch said, looking up at the massive cyclops. "Some of the best you got please. I've over 270 gold to spend, and since I can only wear one set of armor would like to trade in my chain mail as well. I'm sure you've heard of the flying dungeon and the heroes of Chalice. This armor helped save my hide numerous times up there, so that should give it some more value as trade," the paladin concluded.

" Hmmm, well I don't have much in the way of armour...oh, I do have a suit of Kaadian splint mail, I can let you have that for 150 with the trade in. Nice harness, polished steel backed by Slime Sucker leather."
" Or I do have an old suit of Salamonian plate....but you don't have near enough for that."
" I also make my One Eye longswords and ' Demon Daggers'."
He chuckled, " One Eyes are guaranteed for ten years or your money back no questions asked. They're 50 gold apiece. But they won't let you down."
" Demon Daggers.....they're steel throwing blades with a little trick I picked up from the ancient forge-lore of my ancestors....little bit of curvature to them and getting the balance perfect and they'll come back to your hand after you throw them. I charge 10 gold for them."
Tom has everything he needs, but would've came into this huge smithery and likely would've been caught a few times staring at the owner and the sheer size of the thing. He'd remain quiet and wait for the others to finish up their business.
"I'm good on weapons for now, but I'll be buying that Kaadian splint mail now. And I might come back for the plate if fortune smiles on me," Hatch said, handing over the gold and starting to remove his current chain mail.
Rufus perks up at the mention of the Demon Daggers. He saunters forth towards the large smith. He says, "I shall take four of the Demon Dagger blades. Forty gold pieces it be then, aye?" He flashes a friendly smile up at the cyclopean smith as he reaches for his purse.
"So, how's it look? Everything fitting just right like it should?" Hatch said once he got the armor on.
To the giant's question he answers, "Like Brocc said, hard to say. We're adventurers, so we go where adventure takes us. You got a quest or task needing the heroic sort, we're open to it."
" Funny you should mention that. I heard an interesting story from the dwarven merchant who delivers my metal supplies."
" Grey Rock is a dwarven gold mine hidden away in the Moonstone Hills to the north of here. The Tornhelim dwarven clan have lived and mined there for centuries, and it has always been peaceful. Some months ago an evil sorcerer by the name of Manadrax learned that there is an incredibly rich deposit of Truestone, an extremely rare mineral which is used in the most ancient and powerful conjurations, hidden deep beneath the mine. He attempted to obtain it thinking his powers would be virtually limitless. The dwarves themselves had not discovered the Truestone so far, though they couldn't have been far away from it."
" Manadrax planned to enslave them all and force them to mine in search of the mineral for his own evil purposes! Manadrax recruited a tribe of local orcs, a repulsive rabble who like to be known as the Bone Breakers, and led them against Grey Rock. Alone the orcs stood little chance against the fortified Dwarfhold, but Manadrax has an array of powerful magical powers, including spells which would conjure up an army of undead skeletons to serve him!"
" Much like the ones you just faced if the rumours are true.....anyway, Manadrax got his arse handed to him and his head cut off but he and his orcs and dead did enough damage that the dwarves collapsed the entrance to the hold and headed back to the main Tornhelim mine complex until they can gather enough strength to reopen the mine."
" Which gives us an oppurtunity.....a slightly illegal one....but I just want a sample of this Truestone...to see how it would interact with my smithcraft."
" My merchant friend said there was a secret entrance to the mine, beneath a lone pine tree."
Tom is curious as the one eyed titan strikes up some conversation with the party.
"Well my good man, if more adventure presents itself, I am sure we will be staying around longer!"
"This Truestone you speak of certainly sounds like an interesting endeavor. I wonder how many of this Manadrax person's orcs and skeletons are still alive in this here mine. And you're sure Manadrax is dead? Either way, I know I'm up for it. I assume this will need to be kept secret from the dwarves... seeing we will technically be stealing from them... yes? Will we need any special equipment to mine this Truestone?"
Tom's desire for adventure trumps his moral dilemma about stealing, but asks the others how they feel. "How do you lads feel about this? I mean technically... the dwarves haven't even found the Truestone yet." Thom winks at the group.
"So... where's this long pine tree you speak of? I'm well versed in the woods and I'm sure I'll be able to find it for us if you can describe it."
Rufus smiles at Tom's words. He is toying with two of the Demon Dagger's testing their balance and familiarizing himself to their unique design. He says, "A ship scuttled on the reef and abandoned by captain and crew be fair game for whatever brave soul enter within for that which be left behind. I see this be no different, except instead of sharks there be orcs and undead. I cast me vote to venture to the mine. What be in it for ourselves though, except for adventure that is" Rufus looks up expectedly at the smith with a smile upon his face, a blade perfectly balanced in the palm of his hand.

Thom would've insisted. "My pleasure! Seems it will be a great asset to our next plight."
(so remind me - does the pearl recharge the hut wand?)
(No - it's a spell component to identify magic items - we're waiting to have the magic guy [Brocc?] identify that ring)
Right. Thank you!
"I can identify the ring tomorrow, I do not have the spell prepared to do so today." Brocc explains to the others as they finish up the shopping.
"Fair enough," Hatch says as he enters the armor shop.

" Is it? I've been stuck in here all day...."
" Though folks tend to get nervous when I head out anyway..."
" Looking for something in particular?"

" Pleasure doing business with you."
" Are you gentlemen in Chalice long?"
"Hard to say." Brocc answers with a shrug. "We just got in town, but not sure if we will be staying or if something will take us away from town."
(Same AC as regular splint mail armor, right?)

OOC: Same AC.
" Looks made for you."
