Garet momentarily dazzled by the appearance of the majestic weapons, quickly set his mind to the problem and the answer was on his lips before he heard Banzo speak.
Impressed by the Tortles quick wit, thinking that many a hour tending bar in Chalice must give you a head for figures, he gives a silent nod of affirmation on a job well done.
(To Banzo with a concerned look on her face, Tzedaka taps his shell three times, and speaks in a very steady flat voice as she continues to look at the Inquisitor)
"My friend, you vould be wise to consult de others before offering your answer to dis.... minion." (She says the last word with suprising disdain)
"The dagger is worth 50 copper pieces." Banzo squints at the weapons after giving his answer thinking maybe the onyx sword and bone dagger might be worth less or more depending on what they are made of.
There is a wry chuckle from within the cloaked hood.
" Correct. Your lives will continue for a little longer."
Garet momentarily dazzled by the appearance of the majestic weapons, quickly set his mind to the problem and the answer was on his lips before he heard Banzo speak.

Another chuckle from beneath the hood, almost mocking.....
Continuing to look at the hooded figure, not breaking her gaze, Tzedaka speaks in a quiet voice in Abyssal (Very flat, emotionless, steady)
"And what is the cost if the answer is wrong, I wonder."
The hooded figure whispers back in Abyssal.
" Death of course, Little Sister."
As the sword and dagger disappear from the Inquisitor hands, he folds his arms again slowly and says, 'Correct. Now for the second puzzle. You must tell me the age of Zagors apprentice from the information I shall give you. She first went to the School of Chaos Magic within the Untempered Font when she was 4 and a half years of age and stayed there for a sixth of her life. Then she went to the School of Demonic Sorcery within the Black Temple for a fifth of her life. she then studied under the great necromancer Hellmoon for a quarter of her life and, since then, for a third of her life has been in the service of Zagor.'
Garet watches with dismay as the weapons crumble to dust and tries to get his mind on the puzzle. "90 years old" He says hoping that his mental powers have not deserted him.
Ooc He said at the outset fail and we die I'm assuming either by incorrect answer or by failing to answer we die. If I'm wrong I'm hoping that only the person who answers incorrectly dies and the party gets another chance.
At Garets answer, Tzedaka, not knowing if he was correct or not, begins uttering words in Abyssal (and is ready to cast a spell)
You were a great disappointment to us. I see you are now where you belong. Dis mountain is your cage. Hidden from the world in the dark. But.....she sees you still.
Ian ponders the puzzle and starts to write in the dirt math calculations. He mutters something about something good coming from that old witch. He turns to the party and says "I think I have a guess". and shares it with them. "What do you think?"
On the ground you see:
Age at start 4.5 1/6 is 0.75 added to 4.5 = 5.25 1/5 of that is 1.05 added = 6.30 1/4 of that is 1.60 = 7.90 1/3 of that is 2.633 = ~ 10.5
Presuming that a "sixth of her life" was in reference to 1) at the beginning of the time at each school (1st solution) or 2) at the end of each school (2nd solution) or 3) its at the end in which case it's a big dang gum formula that makes my head hurt.
(OOC: may not matter what Ian drew as Garet already answered)
Tzedaka looks at Ian, and warns him not to answer the inquisitor directly, "Do not give chim your answer Ian unteel we see if Gayroot is correct. Dee consequences of being wrong are dire."
Enwynn nods in agreement with Tzedaka's reply by the river, and seems to be in a less grim mood for the discussion.
In the library of the Inquisitor...
The elf smiles when Banzo's experience in knowing the value of things proves equal to the inquisitor's first challenge. She watches the robed questioner as a cat watches a mousehole as they ask the second question, even as she despairs at fractions of a lifetime, and the unknown factors of time and human aging when chaos magic is a possible part of the calculation.
Enwynn glances down to study Leigh's calculations briefly but she does not truly know herself if his or Garet's answer is correct, and her only response is a puzzled expression and a return to her wary study of the inquisitor in the hope that a man who has by his own account, lived by his wits can unravel the knotted loops of numbers in this mental maze.
The shrouded hooded head surveyed the group for some time then nodded.
Correct,' says the Inquisitor. 'You have eamed the right to enter the innet sancfum of Firetop Mountain, where the harmony of the spheres aligns itself to Chaos. If you wish, you may avail yourselves of my library before you go.'
The figure turned towards Tzedaka once more, speaking the Celestial tongue.
There is a place for you in The Pit. All have weakness and all know that faith is fragile.....even that of The Gods.
Garet visibly relaxes, he hadn't noticed but his hand had strayed to the hilt of his blade. He released the grip and sighs.
The heroic side of his nature would have ignited that blade and surely his skills would have been enough to prevail.
However the other side of his nature the part that had lead him to survival over the years in the cutthroat streets of Port Blacksand, instinctively knew that this foe was beyond him and was glad that such a confrontation had not ensued.
He then wondered would they had prevailed as a group, he had seen his companions do wonders but here on this Demons home turf, he wondered if even that would have been enough.
Garet roused himself from his inner darkness, they had prevailed, through wits rather than strength of arms and it made him realise that all of their skills would be needed if they were to rid Allansia of Zagor.
He also thought that if wit had won this round then wit may be needed again, a little more knowledge wouldn't be a bad thing and turning to his companions. "I say we take him up on the library for there may be knowledge of Zagor in there knowledge that may be useful to us in the long run."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Hearing confirmation that Garet's answer was correct, Tzedaka lets go of the powerful spell she was about to cast.
She gently touches Garet's shoulder in confirmation of his success.
(In common) "Libra watches you and knows that you play a game of life and death with mortals as if you are death itself."
(In Celestial, OOC: When the encounter is over, feel free to read the spoilers if you wish)
"You are not death, just a....fallen angel. You are on the wrong side of this war. Return to the Hall of Mind and ask her for redemption....brother.
She will then walk to the books and see if anything catches her eye, uttering words in celestial to herself (guidance) (Not sure if she can read so if not, colors, pictures)
(Guidance and Investigate? 19or Perception 20 + Guidance: 4
After studying the being, Tzedaka seems to stiffen. All joviality and childlike qualities gone.
She seems quite pensive and holds Enwynns hand. (Heroism on Enwynn)
She seems torn between wanting to say something and holding her tongue (not her usual say what she thinks cavalier self)

"I'll give you the 300 copper pieces, for them Whats that 3 Zagors." Garet says hoping his bravado would give them the edge.
Continuing to look at the hooded figure, not breaking her gaze, Tzedaka speaks in a quiet voice in Abyssal (Very flat, emotionless, steady)
"And what is the cost if the answer is wrong, I wonder."
Herman mumbles warily when they choose the path.
As soon as the cloaked figure was enouncing the question, he was already touching his blade but the he started thinking
"Lets se eonix is worth more than bone....a sword is worth more than a dagger..."
Fortunately Banzo was quick to answer!
There is a wry chuckle from within the cloaked hood.
" Correct. Your lives will continue for a little longer."
Another chuckle from beneath the hood, almost mocking.....
The figure simply holds the weapons up and they crumble to ash in moments.

The Apprentice's age I believe is 10.5

Or, I got it wrong and it's this --> each formula is 4.5 (to start) + x/6 = x. But I can't remember how to resolve this equation.

Tannin only ponders the riddle, hoping Garet, was right.
