"So we'll have to scout the high grounds for archers probably. Thanks. I don't suppose you might know of where we could find a map or a guide perhaps?" Hatch said. He then produced a gold coin to give her, "And for your help thus far, a pretty coin for the pretty lady." There was an awkward hint of flirting there.
Lindale though about all that had been said so far and added a couple questions of her own: "How many times did they happen already? Is there any pattern? Would you be able to tell when and where they would strike again? And... ore must be horribly heavy, there had to be tracks. Was there no one curious enough to follow?"
"I would not expect them to fight, but if someone had stolen something I worked for, I would follow if only to be able to tell those who fight, where to go. But them be them. So, anything about the pattern?"

" You think I'm pretty?", she blushed. " No maps...I mean I could guide you if you feel its needed."

" Ten or twelve times....I think."
" Seems to be random days...though usually its twilight or early morning."
" A few followed early on....none of them came back."
"Lindale, I'm guessing if they don't want to put their lives on the line when the bandits attack they're also probably not going to track them down for the same reason."
Banzo draws one of his daggers slowly and non-threateningly. He examines it and then sheaths it again.
"These miners are trained to use mining tools, not weapons. That's where we come in. We're going to have to fight for those who can't fight for themselves."
"I would not expect them to fight, but if someone had stolen something I worked for, I would follow if only to be able to tell those who fight, where to go. But them be them. So, anything about the pattern?"
"Well, seems like we set up something for this evening." Brocc says with a shrug. "Do we want to try some complicated ruse, or just go there and look for tracks and such ourselves?" It is clear he would like the second, he is a fairly straight-forward kind of guy that way.
"You have an easy wide smile, great energy, and a feminine fashion. I don't know what gnomes consider attractive, but I think that's quite pretty indeed," Hatch said. "And if my companions don't mind I'd love to have you guide us around if you're sure it wouldn't take up too much of your time."

"Let's not get too elaborate as we might have to try this several times before a raid occurs."
Banzo looks to the west to try and judge how much time is left before dusk. "If there are too many to prevent the raid we will have to try and follow them back to their hideout."

She looked at Hatch with a slightly bemused expression.
"Perhaps you know a few places where we could hide to spring our trap?" Banzo adds his question on the heels of Hatch's compliments to help convince Leewinnette that her help would be greatly appreciated.
Leewinette moved rapidly over the rocky slopes as they left the ragged borders of the town.
She ascended up a scree slope and as the others followed they could see a huge number of dusty trails spider-webbing out from town into the hills to individual mines.
She pointed forward and scampered along the ridgetop like a jackrabbit. After an hour or so she suddenly stopped and pointed down slope to one of the more well travelled trails.
" This is where we were hit from last time."
OOC:
Banzo, Hatch and Brocc:
There are signs that a small group of humanoids have sat here for some time, some etching on a stone where an arrowhead was sharpened, a scrap of chewed root.....
Lindale:
You discover two sets of tracks here. One is a small narrow boot print, very shallow.....the other are strange semi-dog like prints but almost stretched as if partway between paw and hand.
“Well looks like the place for certain.” Brocc says with a nod to the female gnome. He glances to his companions. “Anyone spot anything that might tell us where they went?”
"Looks like you guys were having a pleasant time until those thugs showed up," Hatch told Leewinnette. "We'll have to see that you can do so again without worrying about these darn bandits."
"Very strange tracks!" Exclaimed Lindale while studying the crime scene. "Some look like of "little people" but those paw-prints?"
Nature 23 Survival: 16 (for identifying the tracks and read the direction they lead)
Lindale notes...slightly worriedly...a similarity between the tracks her own boots leave and those on the rise, examining the others further...the best she can determine is ' canine-adjacent'.
The trail is expertly disguised but Lindales knowledge of the natural world allows her to determine a general direction....north-east....

Brocc thinks his companions have the questions under control so settles back to just listen in.

She nodded grimly.
" None I can make out."

About fthree hours til nightfall....
She looked at Hatch with a slightly bemused expression.
"Everything's shiny, Mr Hatch. Not to fret."
" Ya'll good to go now?"
" Theres a few spots...maybe."
“Best to get things set up then.” Brocc says as he nods to the afternoon sun.
"Please lead the way," Hatch asked Leewinnette.
The gnome woman nodded, ran over and chatted to a group of miners then ran back to the group.
" Ok, lets go."
She took off at high speed towards the hills.
Hatch ran after so as not to get left behind by the speedy gnome.
Climbing on to his spider mount, Brocc nods to the others and starts out after the female gnome as well.
Lindale followed the crowd as well.
