"I think we tussled with that wyvern last time we were out this way." Brocc comments as he hears about it. "We'll keep our eyes open for it, maybe we can deal with it once and for all." He nods to the North. "Do you think it too late in the day to continue North, or do we have enough time left in the day to make it to a decent place to camp before darkness comes?"
J'thro regarded the sky, " You've a fair while till it grows truly dark, or you could come back with us and rest up....though your journey will be a little longer if you do."
"I'd say we should push on." Brocc says, glancing to his companion. He adjusts his seat atop the spider mount, the construct standing there motionless, looking like a metal statue that Brocc just happened to be sitting on.
Bidding goodbye to the Wild Hillfolk the companions journeyed on into the Moonstones, finding trails through the patchy scrub and occasional stands of trees.
As the sun began to set they found themselves in a shallow valley between two hills, one was crowned by a dense copse of dark trees, the other by a rocky outcrop with stones piled upon it. The valley itself was filled with long grass and a tiny brook trickled through it from a spring they had passed a little ways back.
"Looks like a nice place." Brocc says from atop his spider, the thing's eight legs clicking as it moves across the ground. He looks up at the sky, trying to decide if it is late enough in the day that they should be making camp, or if they have a few more miles in them still before camping.
you areally are full of surprises! I will surely say no to sleep in a tent but, as long as there is some light still, I will do the first turn of guard
And he starts doing so, while eating some dry meat and drinking some water
The hut is erected on the stony hill and after a basic meal the companions are able to sleep comfortably, Herman sits guard though there is little need with the magical construct keeping things at bay.
He notes during the night that a few small animals call the outcrop home and something big moving through the long grass in the valley but the night passes without incident.
The sun rise illuminates the hilltop and a new day dawns.
Looking down from the hilltop to the north the hills roll onwards, small plumes of smoke rise into the air to the west and north.
Anyone with Passive Perception over 14:
Shapes wheel in the air to the north over a small settlement and there is a brightly coloured tent erected on a hill a little ways to the west from here.
Brocc mounts his spider as soon as the group has finished any morning rituals. "Shall we continue north?" He asks. (His passive perception is 13, so he has no ideas of anything other than they need to press on northward.)
Zeltheris would glance over towards the settlement to the north, musing quietly to himself, "Seems a strange place for a carnival... Anyone know anything about this?" Gesturing at the bright tent and strange shapes.

Nods in agreement. "Aye, we've no reason to waste time yet."

"indeed"
Says Herman, enjoying the view
Zeltheris looks around a little glumly, "I suppose it'd be too much to expect to find a nice wayside inn up here, but I guess this will do."
Ooc: which is the best choice, I don't know, Herman may
Survival 19
OOC: Or not... :)
"Yes, let's move to a hilltop." Brocc picks one at random... 1 1 = left, 2 = right. He then leads the way up and uses his want to cast tiny hut.

Zeltheris follows them to the hill to set up the encampment, and beds down early to get a fresh start the next day.

"You do not need to take turns to watch, Shalana's sensors pick up most things whilst in powered down mode," Shalana clanks along.

Herman, relieved he can sleep safely, thanks Shalana
uh?!, I didn't know that, thanks
Herman really feels like a townie in a big big world

Brocc squints his eyes in that direction... Perception: 5
"Not sure what you are talking about, I can't make anything out." Brocc says. "Should we move closer and check it out though?"
