Alto just looks a little lost after the battle and seeing the town on fire because of something he took part in. He tries to staunch the bleeding from the many, many small wounds the bugs inflicted on him as he does so, seeming to not notice Moira’s question. Snapping out of it when Kellin talked about what a bad idea the fire and light was, Alto looks at the group and says very quietly,
”Sorry I did that. I thought I was helping. I’ll try to do better next time.”
Following whoever leads him, he’ll look around a little dazed, and then suddenly remember about healing.
”Does anyone need to be healed? I can do that, if you want me to I mean.”
When Danfi notices the ledge, he will take a moment to rest there. Looking down, he notices the dragon leaving with the kobolds and decides to remain where he is. Can he see the dragon fly back to the cave? Are their ropes or saddles on the dragon for the kobolds to hold on to? Can he see any of the activity outside the cave from where he is laying?

Torvin seeing Alto troubled by the events that just unfolded will walk over to him and pat him on the back casting cure wounds for: 10 plus another 3 healed for Disciple of life feature for a total of: 7 hp healed
He will say to Alto: "Save those spells in case the Dragon returns my friend. Do not let the previous events affect you too much....just remember our actions do have consequences." "Does anyone have a way to contact Danfi? I am worried about him."
Moira: Ify returns to inform that the dragon and kobolds are all back in the cave currently. The dragon is sitting out on the ledge of the top opening and while it saw Ify flying around, it made no attempt to pursue. Danfi was also seen halfway up the mountain resting on a ledge after the encounter.
Kellin: You are able to put out several fires which stirs the townsfolk into action to save their homes. They shake off their terror and begin grabbing buckets of water from a nearby well to throw on the fire.
Alto: You manage to patch up some of the townfolk with the worst burns, finding the girl Gwen to be among the ones helping the others. She hugs you again when she sees you healing her family and friends. "Thank you so much for what you are doing."
Danfi: As you wait on the ledge, you see the dragon fly pass with the kobolds hanging on to it. There is no saddle or handles that you can tell, it looks as if the kobolds are just hanging onto the dragon from various parts of the legs and wings. The dragons fly above and into the cave at the top, after which the dragon comes back out and lies down looking over the town.
Torvin: You give your pep talk to Alto and heal him, which some of the townsfolk overhear. They thank you for trying, regardless of the outcome of the events as they feel doing something is better than what they have done, which is sit down below waiting on them to come and attack again.
Alto thanks Torvin, quietly accepts the girl’s thanks, and tries to somehow help the town get fixed up. He doesn’t seem as boisterous as usual, but he’s definitely not as downhearted as before.

Danfi will stay were he is for now, keeping an eye on the dragon and watching to see if it goes inside and if any of the kobolds come out to join it. When dawn comes, he will study the mouth of the cave. How big is the mouth of the cave? Does it look like there are any ledges above the mouth? After spending some time studying the cave, the ranger will begin making his way back down to the town, with plans in mind.
Danfi: The dragon stays out most of the night looking down on the town, several kobolds coming out at different times for some reason that you can figure out from where you are. Before dawn, the dragon backs into the cave leaving the ledge empty. The cave is about 15 feet tall and roughly 20 feet wide, but there are no ledges above the one the cave comes out on.
Everyone else: As a group effort all the townsfolk come out and work together to get the fires out. Afterwards you are joined by Hodil, coming over in much less fine clothes as he had on the last time you saw him, with dirt and soot on his clothes, skin and hair. He steps up with an aura of calm about him, but he is obviously not happy at the moment. "While that could have gone much worse, this is what i was looking to avoid. This town is our livelihood and I hired you to kill the creature that is trying to take it from us. You turned back the kobolds that might have laid waste to the town and our people, but I need that beast dead."
When Danfi returns to the town, he says simply "I have a plan, but we'll need to work together to accomplish the feat. First, we need to gather a large supply of wood, preferably green wood. It should be close to the amount that each of us can carry up to the cave. Second, we need to put up some temporary barriers about 50 yards from the edge of town, with a shallow ditch on the far side of it. If we can, we should put more oil into it. If not, water should do the trick. The ditch and oil or water is merely meant to serve as a barrier should the kobolds unleash more centipedes on us. Tonight, when they show up, we need to have Torvin and Moira hiding about a 1/2 mile outside of town. When the kobolds get close enough, the other three of us will target the kobolds carrying the staves. When they turn to run, Torvin and Moira can cut them down, and hopefully finish them off."
"Myself, Alto, and Kellin will initially attack the kobolds, but, when the dragon comes down, we'll turn our fire onto the dragon and try to drive him off. Tomorrow, we will then head up to the cave to finish the job. That is what the wood will be used for. We'll also need someone to keep an eye on the cave today to see if the dragon or the kobolds come out during the day."
Once that is said, Danfi again returns to the blacksmith and asks either him or his son how difficult it is to get up on the mountain directly above the cave. He'll also consider his own observations about that portion of the mountain.
"I certainly did not go as I would have predicted, Hodil. I hope that all townspeople are well. How many casualties do you count? Killing the dragon and driving off those menacing kobolds is my first priority and I will not rest until they are gone. In the meantime it might be best to fortify the town, so that once we go up the mountain to the dragon's lair, that clever beast cannot use your people as a distraction and leverage. Let me know, if I can assist in any way.", I tell Hodil.
Once I see Danfi: "Hey, Danfi. Where have you been? I was beginning to worry, once I lost sight of you. Welcome back. As for your plan, I find it doable. Although, considering what has transpired in our last battle, I would suggest, that we come up with a plan together this time. If everyone is on board, then there is no complaining afterwards. It would also be highly dishonorable and cowardly to pin the failure of a plan and its execution on a fellow group member, shall it not succeed, if everyone is in accord in the first place."
While I wait for the others to gather, I sit down and start reading everything I find on dragons and especially red dragons and tough kobolds in the little book Hodil gave me. From time to time I look up and around to see what the others are doing.
(What do I learn from the little book about dragons, red dragons and the tougher kobolds?)
"The dragon was cunning." Kellin says as he joins the others. "Attacking the town so we were forced to leave off the battle with the kobolds to return and defend the town." He nods to the others at the discussion of the plan. "It all depends on how many kobolds are in the cave." He says with a shake of his head. "If the group today was the total number, then we would be fine with that plan, but, if there are more in the cave, then I think we would be in trouble splitting our forces as you are suggesting."
He considers it for a moment. "I don't like this, but I think I should send my familiar up to see if they can have a look around inside the cave."
"If you wish, we can coordinate the reconnaissance and let Ify join in. In my opinion, we should not wait too long with our reaction. They might be resting during the day, but they might also be fortifying their position and getting ready for our assault. Also, if they do not come out during daytime, we need only concentrate on the lair itself and not worry about retaliation against the people of Longsaddle right away."
”I can definitely follow this plan, but do we have any ideas for defending against the dragon fire? I’m not really fireproof to be honest.” Alto looks around at the group questioningly. He’s not great at planning, but this group seems to know what to do, even if too many plans happened.
When Moira comes up to Danfi and states "Although, considering what has transpired in our last battle, I would suggest, that we come up with a plan together this time", Danfi turned at stared in disgust at the young woman for a minute before stating "You're the one who didn't listen to anyone else when this started. Maybe you should try working with the rest of us rather than trying to play the big hero."
After Kellin talks, Danfi pauses a minute and says "I'm not suggesting we split our forces, just be able to attack them from two directions at once. But, now that you mention it, I think having Torvin and Moira a 1/2 mile out is probably too far. I'd suggest we have them about 100 yards from the barricade. When the kobolds get within 60 yards, we can start attacking them with range attacks, and then have Torvin and Moira come after them. But, we should probably have a back-up plan in case they come back with a larger force. If you have a better idea, share it and maybe we can come up with a solid battle plan."
To Alto, Danfi simply states "I have no idea how to protect us from the dragon fire. I'm hoping we can get through tonight without any serious damage, and then tomorrow, take them by surprise."
"You are right, Danfi. Noone should play the hero, unless they truly are one. No use pretending to be something you're not."
"Our advantage of surprise is gone. Our advantage of fighting on our turf too. In my opinion, we can just as well focus our attack on the lair. Then we will maybe prevent the dragon from leaving for an attack on the town. I was wrong to think that we should attack the kobolds. My gut feeling had told me that, if you recall, but I did not listen to it. Once the dragon is gone, the kobolds will be a weaker opponent."
While she says that, she sits down and starts to read the book as mentioned before.
(What does she learn from the book? What time is it? How is the weather?)
(Moira is 28 of age. She is not a young woman considering traditions and mortality rate. At the DM's discretion, of course. Speaking of which, what age are all the other characters?)
"Give me an hour and I will change my familiar's form to that of a bat." Kellin says, as he pulls out the makings of his find familiar ritual. "Then I will send him in to scout the cavern a bit, which will, hopefully, tell us a bit more." He shrugs. "Right now we are going on conjecture and hope, let us try to get some more concrete data prior to making plans on guesswork."
"Aye, we need more information on this dragon and his minions. From what I understand fighting a dragon in his home will be more difficult." says Torvin agreeing with Kellin.

"I agree. Let us help the townfolk and then get rid of that dragon once and for all."
I follow Kellin and try to help out where it is needed.
