The others would notice that Germain was standing over the bound cultists with dagger in hand, leaning down to open their throats when the decision was made to take them back to town. He’ll reluctantly put his dagger away and help load them in the wagon before resuming scouting ahead.
Toc turns to the group as they move down the road, trailing after Germain their scout. In hushed tones he says, "The man said THE dragon queen? As in the god? Idiots, killing and stealing so they can pile treasure up at the foot of an alter. The real question is why so bold about it now, they're going to get themselves crushed acting like this."

Naroth nods in agreement with sending the fodder back to Greenset so they can deal with them there.
"So let's get moving up to this "rear" guard and proceed to crush them. This should be an exciting trip and I look forward to crushing my enemies in front of me." Naroth grins and prepares to move out. He then moves about the camp attempting to get rid of any evidence they were even there. Using branches to erase/cover tracks and shoving dirt over puddles of blood to hopefully mask that any fight was even here and the "bad" guys just up and disappeared.
Taviel looked at bloodthirsty Naroth somewhat skeptical. "Killing does solve some problems, except one - getting information. We have plenty of robs, capes and what's not from cultists now" (her own, taken in Greenest she kept with herself). "What do you say if we join their ranks for a while? Then we decide when and where - and who - to crash."
Naroth stops what he is doing, looks at Taviel for a moment and then grins with a mouth full of teeth, just like a crocodile before it strikes. He then gathers as much of the clothes from the cultists as he can. "I like you and the way you think."
Toc smiles at the exchange, "There were only four cultists. There are five of us, plus...Naroth does not exactly fit in. But, I'm willing to give it a try. I can use magic to disguise myself. Let us at least be prepared for the opportunity to infiltrate their ranks."
Toc spends some time studying the face of Rubin in detail, before nodding to himself and setting off.

With cultist clothing and other odds and ends in place, the group starts moving once again. Valen returns to the rear guard position, letting the others range ahead as he keeps an eye on their back trail.
The wagon, with the prisoners, heads back towards Greenest.
With the information on a likely rear guard ahead, the group continues onward. After a bit of hiking you come up onto an area where the path forward narrows between two outcroppings. You are about 200 yards away when you recognize it. You also see that there is a path that leads off around these outcroppings, which will take you away from the path, but, with what you have seen of the area, you feel confident you can get back to the path again once around the likely ambush site ahead.
Naroth tenses a bit as we approach the pass as sooner or later the read guard will make their presence known. He will continue to press on, making a point of looking behind as if he is looking for pursuers and will continue forward on Toc's direction.
Yes. everyone is dressed up as cultists. Toc holds his hand up to halt the party. "We shall pause and gives Germain time to swing around on the foot paths and look for the ambush location."
They move to the side of the road, trying to stay slightly hidden, and wait for Germain.
Taviel looked at the place where Germain practically vanished into thin air - there is certainly much usefulness in such skill - and asked: "Who do you think is ambushing here whom? I mean, if these are cultists, we should pass freely, should not we?"
Toc shrugs, "We do not know how this cultist group operates. Maybe they have some secret handshake that will have us ferreted out. I'd prefer to approach knowing they lay of the land, in case we need to fight our way out of something."

Taviel did not think about it whish she admitted: "Oh, true. Even a simple password - or whatever these secretive organizations use would be a trouble. Oh, well. Guess we just wait for Germain then." She sighed and tried her best to stay still, petting Nissa and suppressing the urge of impatient walk.
You sneak around, then climb up to get a look at the rear guard in their ambush site. You find... The rearguard consists of one veteran, six cultists, and two acolytes. The guard and cultists have spears for both ranged and melee combat. They are positioned in an area where the trail winds through a gap between two outcrops. The ambushers are hidden in the rocks, 12 to 15 feet above ground level. Sneaking away again, you head back to the group.
When Germain returns, Toc crouches and considers, drawing the contours of the land in the dirt with Germains help to try and get a good sense of the situation. His eyes wander back and forth and his lips are pursed. He occasionally raises his eyes to look at the party members.
"Alright, here's one idea. Myself, Valen, and Naroth approach the two positions from behind where we can close to melee with our enemies quickly. We won't risk getting so close we alert them though. With the ambushers up high, it's probably best for our ranged warriors to be the cultists. So Germain, Taviel, you get to be cultists. You travel down the road and play the trailing cultist who lost their way and are catching up to the raiding party. You must have gotten trapped in a barn or something...though you can clearly be lying, so you don't have to act so well, and can then give up the truth, you found some ale and got a bit drunk...and lost your way. If they buy it, you continue on. The rest of us sneak around and this rear guard gets to live so that we can try to infiltrate the enemy ranks. If they tell you you're now part of the rear guard, then you can do some information gathering, though now your acting has to get even better. Especially if they all know each other, they'll be wondering who the heck you really are. If they have any special test of membership, and we fail to fool them, well....we know what happens." He glances around, "Sound ok? Anyone suggest any changes?"

"Seems fine with me." Valen speaks up. "I am not so good at moving quietly though, so not sure if you want me to go with the ones walking up on them rather than sneaking around behind..."

"Glad you approve." not specifying who she means said Taviel. "And do not worry, I've got "my" robe in the Greenest." "Shall we go then?"
I would assume, robes and decorations are collected and distributed among the party.
