Riona kneels down beside the dying woman and quickly draws her dagger. Grabbing a handful of the woman's clothing she cuts of a few strips and start to tie the cloth around the wounds to stop the bleeding. She looks up at the party while her hands work and says in a firm voice.
"We may have to cauterize these wounds if they don't stop bleeding. If she wakes up I might request that you all give her and I some space. I have some magic that might help me pull information from her but I'm not sure your presence would help."
By the way her hands move you can tell she doesn't necessarily have medical training but she is also no stranger to battlefield wounds.
Lander pulls a spare shirt out of his backpack and applies it to the wound that won't stop bleeding. He is visibly shaken and is going to try and staunch the blood flow. "Crap, crap, crap.......I'm trying. I hope this works." Lander will make a medicine check to see if he's able to help stabilize the woman.
All: As Lander tries to staunch the flow of blood, the crossbow bolt prevents him from making much of a difference. The woman is writhing weakly as you all stand around. Suddenly, a voice calls out "If you wish to preserve her for questioning, remove the bolt." As one, you all turn to see a half-elven man in leather armor and a green cloak with hood. Next to him is a large wolf, eyeing you intently. The man looks to each of you then says "She's still dying." Lander takes hold of the bolt and tries to pull it out. The woman screams in agony. "Gods, no. The other way. The bolt head prevents it from coming back out the way it went in. You have to push it through." The man stands roughly 15ft away with arms crossed, his wolf stands still as a statue, watching. Fedex and Keragri roll the woman on her side as Lander and Riona attempt to push the bolt deeper into the woman. Her screams turn to moans of agony and she begins shaking violently. "It's coming through!" shouts Fedex, "A little more! Keragri, try and pull it out!" Keragri grips the tip of the bolt and with one swift yank, pulls it free. The woman gasps, then slumps into Fedex's arms, unconscious, but breathing. Lander and Riona scramble to apply pressure to the wound. "Here, this'll wake her up." And the man tosses a small spherical object to the group. Lander catches it and looks at it in his palm. It appears to be a berry, deep purple in color. "She won't be in any condition to give us trouble, but she'll be able to talk.Whenever you're ready, just put it in her mouth and uh... help her chew."
OOC: Thanks to Lander's successful Medicine Check, the combat/time sensitive section is over! We no longer need to post in initiative order, feel free to post as you're able.
"Ummm...... you're gonna have to excuse me for not being my usual jovial self right now, but who might you be? My friends and I are a bit tired and worse for wear after being attacked by this witch and her associates, and I have no idea whether you're truly here to help us, or just strike us down when the right moment arises. If you'd kindly back away a bit before answering it'd be appreciated." Lander looks visibly tense and shaken after this whole ordeal. You notice his hands are trembling slightly. He is still kneeling but prepared if anything seems amiss. He has blood all over his hands and the front part of his shirt.

Fedex is skeptical and cautious regarding our new friend. He continues to cradle the dwarven woman but does his best to survey the area for new arrivals/potential hostiles but returns his attention to the half-elf for any sudden movements.

OOC for All: I won't be posting much 'til later tonight around 8:30pm CST (that's when my son usually falls asleep and my wife and I do our own things for an hour or so). I'm taking advantage of decent weather and dethatching/fertilizing my lawn today. I want to be able to give my posts the attention that you all deserve :) Thanks for your patience and awesome participation thus far!
Riona nods at Fedex's suggestion then turn and gently places a hand on Lander's shoulder, watching him until his eyes pull up and meet hers.
"First time is always the worst, deep breaths the shakes will leave you soon. You have done remarkably well I was nauseous for days after my first real battle, all the blood is... well you never really get used to it."
After his breathing calms slightly she takes her time to recollect her rope near the well then moves to bind the woman's hands and feet, not to tight but firm enough that running wont be an option.
**OOC
Will we need to track XP from fights or will you be doing milestones for when/if we level up?
Lander closes his eyes and focuses on his breathing. He slows it down and notices that his shaking is getting a bit better. He looks to Riona with a sad smile. "Thanks." He pats her hand to let her know he'll be ok and then looks to Fedex. "Ok, I'll give her this. Just support her head and neck good while I help her swallow it." Lander takes the little berry, carefully opening her mouth and places it under her tongue. He opens his waterskin and pours a small amount of water in her mouth. He then attempts to help her swallow the berry and water by closing her mouth and gently tilting her head back. "Hopefully this'll work."
While Riona retrieves her rope and then begins to tie the dwarf woman up, Lander leans over and whispers to Fedex. "I'm worried about you too. I saw you take a terrible shot in the ribs. Do you need any medical treatment?"
(OOC: Short rest would be great for me too so I can recover a spell slot. We'll see what happens with our Elven friend here first. BTW, that was a great roll with the second wind.)
Lander: The half-elven man smiles and raises both hands with palms facing you. "After watching you all butcher those brigands, I can't help but wonder who's really in danger here..." and he begins to back away. The wolf has lowered it's head and it's hackles are up. A low growl rumbles in it's throat. Lupa, easy now girl, give them some space." At her master's command, Lupa backs away slowly. The man and his wolf have backed up an additional 10ft. The man slowly lowers his hands and again crosses his arms in front of his chest. "You can call me... Durothil. If you're going to take a breather, I suggest doing it away from the looted corpses, so close to the road."
Riona: As you're tying the dwarven woman's arms and legs you glance over to the stranger and see him give a nod. It seems he approves of your caution.
OOC: We'll be leveling up via Milestones.
Fedex:
The doesn't appear to be anyone else lurking or hiding nearby. Returning your attention to the stranger, you recognize a smoothness to his movements that betrays years of combat training. A longbow is strapped to his back next to a quiver full of arrows. On his right hip he wears a longsword, a dagger on his left. "Southpaw..."you think to yourself. The wolf is large. Easily the largest you've seen and wild looking as well. It's fur is matted and tangled, the muzzle and paws stained with old blood. This is no domesticated pet, but a truly wild beast following it's alpha.
All: The dwarven woman swallows reflexively and after a few seconds she begins to cough. Bloody spittle spews from her lips and she rolls to the side, trying to reach her face with her hands, but the rope prevents her from doing so. She stops coughing and suddenly begins to quickly look around. She begins to scream and thrash against her bonds. "If you're going to kill me, just do it already!" she pants, exhausted after her brief struggle.
"Thank you sir, for the kindness you have shown us. These four brigands lured us off the road with the intent of stripping our dead bodies. Now it appears we will return the favor."
Fedex doesn't believe he will be helpful with the interrogation so would prefer to search the bodies of the near bandit and half-orc. He is especially interested in replacing his spent bolts and possibly upgrading his crossbow(s)/finesse weapon.
A quick search of the bodies nets you 29crossbow bolts, the most serviceable scimitar of the bunch (the rest are in ill repair and are hardly worth the trouble of packing them out), a rusted mace, and a crossbow, heavy. You also find 3gp, 13sp, and 24cp in dirty coin pouches and boots.
OOC for All: I'm signing off for the night. I'll be back on tomorrow, though I can't say when exactly. Yard work and finals will have me preoccupied. I'll try to post by 2pm CST and again later in the evening.
OOC for all: I believe I have the strength to carry the loot from the two bodies I searched. I assume Keragri is carrying the loot from the one he searched. I am inventorying these items separately from my own gear (the same way I am keeping separate the 5 gp given by the horseman on the road). Fedex wouldn’t mind replacing the three bolts he expended during the fight and also to upgrade his light crossbow to heavy and he plans on equipping it for the duration of this mission, at least. He is willing to reduce his compensation later, to account for the heavy crossbow’s value. We can roll play if someone wants the scimitar, mace, or boots.
OOC for Dyldor: are the boots better than what any of us have, or fit any of us, for that matter?
Fedex will dash with up to 60’ of movement. He will overrun purposely to give Keragri room, should he decide to join.

"Dammit! Lander can you press on the wounds I cant get this bleeding to stop?"
Riona: The woman grabs at you with bloody hands, their grip weak. She looks terrified and cries as she gasps for air.
