Checking in to see how many folks would like to run an old module updated to 5e. I'm talking about pretty old school here. I haven't decided on which one yet but I have a few in mind. The most recent was originally 2e. I'm thinking a higher level run. Probably 7th minimum up to 12th as a starting point.
It would only be PbP and I'd like folks who could post pretty frequently to keep the momentum going. I'm EST time zone (GMT-4) and I'd prefer people who are within a few hours of that but it's not a deal breaker.
About me as a DM... I've been playing (and dm'ing) on and off since '83. I try to balance role-playing and battle with a good measure of messing with my players heads thrown in. I enjoy stories with lots of plot twists and layers of overlapping small stories that create a whole. I try to be descriptive of the surroundings and some will be theater of the mind but I also use maps when available and in epic battles will use battle maps that I update as we go.
If you'd be interested in running an old module just say so here or send me a PM. If I have enough folks who'd like to play I'll tell you the module and ask for a character.
Hey man :) I don't see that that one's been done yet, at least by dmsguild. I think a Conan type character would fit into almost any early module though.
Thank you everyone for your interest! Let's do it :)
I'm not going to tell you the module yet but everyone will be starting at level 7 and if all goes well and folks are enjoying themselves there is a second module in the series.
What I'd like everyone to do is just give me a race and class you'd like to play. I'll make the party choice based on that to have a well rounded group. Then I'll give you more specifics and we can make characters. (or play an existing one you have as long as it's lvl 7 and you don't mind making any equipment changes as needed to start)
Unfortunately I can't take everyone. It just get's too crazy in PbP with too many players. However, if it works out I would consider running 2 groups.
Ooo. One class I've been wanting to bring back since his campaign failed is a Ghostwise Halfling (Land) Druid. Maybe he and Jabritton could have some halfling antics :D
Will stats be rolled or SA/Point buy? I vote for only SA/PB, but it's of course your call~
I have a few ideas of what I want to do, but one requires multiple classes, so I want to know if I should rule it out ahead of time.
This would be a variant human, with levels of rogue, cleric, warlock, and bard. The concept is a jack-of-all-trades who does whatever is needed to get by. She is a lover of travel and adventure, and her background would be entertainer.
I would also be up for doing a straight Chronomancy wizard, if Wild Mount is allowed.
This one would be a forest gnome wizard who specializes in chronomancy. He would be a scholar and sage, seeking out new mysteries to solve and adventuring to gain more knowledge and find ancient or lost storehouses of lore.
I have other options I can put forth, but would like to know about the above first. I can also change things up if the group needs something else.
Ability scores can be Standard array or point buy. Either is fine.
Multi class is also fine.(As long as you have the stats, obviously)
I'm fine with Chrono Wizard.
UA/Eberron/CR all allowed but in the case of UA please ask first so I can check out what you'd like to play.
I currently have access to all the sourcebooks via content share but that could change so if you are choosing a race or class that needs a sourcebook outside of the basics I'd prefer you own that book.

Sounds cool! I have been playing DnD for a few years. (Only 5e though.)
I'm CST and can post several times a day.
Five percent of the people think; ten percent of the people think they think; and the other eighty-five percent would rather die than think.

interested. I have been kicking around the idea of playing a "Conan" type character - Barbarian, Thief, Fighter multi-class.
On the subject of old modules....Has The Village of Hommlet been updated to 5e? That was the first game I played back in the AD&D days.
I’m totally down, been waiting for a campaign to come along that didn’t start at level one.
I’m EST as well. Usually can post twice a day

Will the old module be using 5e rules?

Yes! It will be fully converted, likely from DMSGuild, to 5e

Never played an old module, bait heard a lot of good things! Very interested to try it out.
I would also be quite interested in this. I’ve been playing since AD&D but didn’t really play modules back then.
I would be interested
Very interested. I was introduced to D&D through 2e, so I have a lot of fondness for the old modules.
Hey Bri~ I'm certainly keen to try something I know absolutely nothing about. Maybe an AT rogue? Or Tortle Cleric? :D

I've always wanted to try and play as a Stout Halfling. Maybe as a Ranger? :)

Been good. Stayin' home mostly these days as everyone... Hope everyone here is well as can be~

I have a few questions first.
How do you feel about multiclassing?
What content is open for this?
I have a few ideas of what I want to do, but one requires multiple classes, so I want to know if I should rule it out ahead of time.

Another question to add : how will ability scores be determined?
Or if you want the character concept first my "conan" will be a Goliath Barbarian(2), Rogue(Thief 8), Fighter(Champion 10)
To answer your questions...
Ability scores can be Standard array or point buy. Either is fine.
