@garnet - the genasi paladin hears the cries for fire and moves to fulfill that directive. First, she moves behind the wall [as per OOC message] and then will unequip her shield. [I am guessing that she will stop just after the wall, same plane as Ithelion]. As she moves, R1 looks on with rage in its eyes...
59 R1 then moves to follow Garnet, but noticing the hated goblins on the ground, moves in towards them. The rat will begin eating the prone goblin: Attack:16Damage:4 *the rat saunters up and starts eating the first goblin, opening up a tear in its chest, blood flows freely with each muffled scream of the goblin! Garnet looks back at the helpless creature, helpless because of them...She thinks back to a time long ago, a similarly helpless creature...
Daemyar and Krom - you're up!
Initiative order
Group 1 - R1, Daemyar, Krom Group 2 - S1, S2, R2(asleep), Shere, Garnet, Ithelion
Daemyar will slash at the rat swarm with a dagger and disengage, trying to get as far away as he can (past the caltrops?)
Attack: 16 Damage: 4 + sneak attack 4
@daemyar - your strike does some damage to the swarm, and another couple rats go limp in the swarm. You disengage and make your way over the wall, and run and jump over the caltrops. You are now on the other side of the caltrops.
Krom shifts his hold on the warhammer and takes a golf swing at the rat swarm around him.
Action: Attack S2 with the warhammer, Attack: 10Damage: 8 Bludgeoning
@krom- your golf swing connects and dislodges a rat from the swell, crunching it against the wall in the distance.
S1 - the rat swarm see Daemyar disappear over the wall and for a moment, they look like they'll do the same. Instead, they notice Shere and instead go try to find a meal on him: Attack:21Damage: 6
S2- the dwarf is paying off for the hungry rats, so they keep munching along: Attack:6Damage: 7
R2 - this rat is still blissfully unaware of anything.
Grimly noting that the rat is now usefully occupied attacking the goblins, Ithelion will try to assist Krom. Asking Elosa to aid her, she calls upon the powers on unlife to restrain the swarm.
Spell Attack (Advantage from Elosa, Disadvantage from Swarm): 9 Damage: 8
She also orders the Unseen servant to continue it's work with the caltrops.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Shere frustrated that his attacks have failed his fur bristles with some what of an arched back roars ending with a hiss Intimidation 5moves with speed and attacks S1 with his claws Attack: 13 Damage: 3
Garnet sees one of the goblins get devoured by the rat, while Krom is being eaten alive by the vile things. The small goblins screams makes Garnet feel somewhere else, another time, another place. Shouting curses in primordial terran she flings herself back over the wall her plans for fire and oil abandoned. She will use both hands and bring her longsword down on R1.
Ithelion conjures a skeletal hand near the swarm of rats and tries to bat the rats away from Krom. The swarm reacts as one and barely manages to avoid the attack. Not having anything to cling to, the skeletal hand disappears into the ether...
Noticing the swarm of rats now interested in him, Shere dispenses with his rapier to the shock of his nearby companions. They watch as Shere's claws come out and begin raking wildly at the rat swarm, managing a hit and doing some damage.
Garnet moves over the low wall, intent on getting to R1, who is currently eating one of the captive goblins. R1 doesn't know what hit it, as Garnet's longsword bisects it in a shower of blood and gore, spraying all over her face. The goblin looks at you terrified and its glances to Shere and Krom before trying to wriggle free (DC17) 19 *the goblins are able to wriggle free from their bonds! They look at Garnet in fright, cowering slightly... 7G2 - 21 5G3 - 14
Initiative
Group 1 - Daemyar, Krom Group 2 - S1, S2, R2(asleep), Shere, Garnet, Ithelion
Ithelion stares in incomprehension at Garnet's action. Let a friend be eaten alive, or a goblin? He might be annoying, but he's one of us! She quickly recovers, and focuses on Krom: worn, beaten, but still fighting. Typical dwarf! She runs in his direction, asking Elossa for her assistance, her hand once again sparking with energy. She releases the energy, then jumps back over the barrier, running to her former position.
Attack: 6 Damage: 2
Seeing the sparks discharge into the air, she curses, an anguished look on her face. She catches Krom's eye, "Hang in there...I'll try again".
(( Can I use Inspiration here? Guessing not since it's already disadvantage + advantage ))
Attack: 20 Damage: 8
Ithelion focuses the anger, frustration and fear of her recent experiences, combined with he exasperation at the intransigence of dwarves, and is gratified to see the rats shuddering under the sparks. "They will be sluggish...attack, and run if you need to!"
With that, she vaults the barrier and returns to her former location.
Garnet sees the goblins frightened faces and tells them to hide not even sure what language she used. Turning away she watches Shere disengage from the other swarm. Keeping her sword in both hands Garnet launches herself at the swarm of rats not currently under attack by Ithelion hoping to kill as many as possible using searing smite.
Group 1 - Daemyar, Krom, G2 Group 2 - S1, S2, R2(asleep), Shere, Garnet, Ithelion,G3
@Ithelion's lightning hits the rat swarm but doesn't do as much damage as hoped, as it dissipates over the bodies of the rats and making their fur stand on end. S2 is sluggish and unable to take reactions!
@Shere does some fancy footwork and manages to flip onto the low wall, it's impressive but more practical than showy (but all your companions are impressed).
@Garnet - turning your back on the former goblin captives (!) you bear down on the swarm that was attacking Shere (S1) and your attack hits! It is a massive strike and the swarm looks significantly thinned out. The good part is that it is on fire!
G2- finally free of its wretched captors, G2 snarls in fury at the tall folk and the hated rats. It stands up (using half its movement) and looks up at Garnet. It nods at her, "Tank ew, I tell Durnn bout ew." As it moves to escape, a "thwump" is heard from the south. The goblin can only look out to see where it came from before it enters its chest and pins it to the wall - G2is dead and wall decoration. Garnet glances back to see Daemyar holding the crossbow...
@krom - as you bash again, you score a hit but the swarm eats it up. The swarm isn't as big as before and you're seeing progress...
S1- CON save - 11 - the swarm takes 4 fire damage from Garnet's searing strike! It is very hurt and only a few of the rats still move with any vigour! S1 will attack Garnet, the smoke from their burning flesh and fur creating a wonderfully odious aroma! Attack:17Damage:2 *the swarm just misses grabbing on to Garnet's arm as she swings - a miss! S2 will continue to chew on the dwarflegs: Attack:13Damage:9 *The swarm can't find purchase - a miss! G3 is about to get up when it sees its comrade get pinned to the wall. It hesitates but decides to run for it! It stands up and runs - 5 feet later another crossbow bolt thuds into the wall just in front of it. It turns to look at Daemyar and pees a little in its armor. But it's a miss! It continues on, using almost all of its movement to get to R2. It will gently kick the rat awake! Then it will disengage and move back 5 feet out of range of R2.
R2 is near death but it sees Krom in front of it in it's hazy stupor. (I'll say it has straight roll here - would be advantage from pack tactics, but the swarm occupies the space): Attack:8Damage:6 *I believe that also does not hit - Krom seems untouchable at the moment!
