Yusdrayal shrugs, and thinks for a moment. "I think what you're describing we call 'The Snake' - a place where the goblins hide and shoot from behind their little walls. Cowards! It's close but here," she points to the guarded door, "It's much closer."
If no one has anything else to add, Meepo and Yurrdo lead to the room south of the hall. Yurrdo unlocks the door and you enter a large, dimly lit, smoky room that smells of blood, dampness, and burnt flesh. There is a large stone spike set in the center. Rusty Chains attach to it and you can see 3 small humanoid figures - goblins- attached to the chains. The fourth chain is currently empty. Off on one side there is a rack with a goblin set upon it - it’s not moving and seems gruesome. It’s clear this is a prison and torture/interrogation area. Several broken weapons and sundered shields lie in one corner. The goblins cower at the sight of you. Various instruments of torture and motivation can be seen on various tables and the room has been decorated for maximum effect, with skeletal remains, mounted skulls, caged giant rats, and curses written in blood on the walls.....
Shere looks and almost takes pity on these poor souls He says to the elf "So which one do we keep? I did not hear you asking for one just to question them. We need one as a guide."
Shere says to Daemyar "So, Ombrre you would be best theirr leaderr for they would trrust you more, speak to them let us know Your judgment on whom we take" He gestures to the goblins
Ithelion moves back, standing near the curses written on the wall, and intones arcane magics while locking her baleful gaze on each of the goblins in turn.
Action: Cast prestidigitation to make her sleeves smell of cloves, to help her get over the smell.
Intent: Escape the smell, and provide Shere or Daemyar with help if either tries to intimidate or persuade.
As she is doing this she keeps an eye on the crazy paladin to make sure she's not about to precipitate trouble.
At Daemyar's words, two of the goblins look at each other and begin to chatter nervously, promising anything and everything and pointing at Yurrdo and their slain comrade on the table. One stays silent, hate in its eyes, as it stares at you."Bastard,"it growls at you (in goblin) and then turns away. They tell you they didn't know there were three of you now and that things must have changed. They ask about their families and if they are to be ransomed. They ask about Durnn and someone named Grenl. At the mention of Grenl, the more silent goblin turns back and tries to punch the others, "Don't speak that name! Traitors!" It doesn't get very far - it's rather weak and diminished. The others stop in mid-sentence and then begin snickering at their comrade. They tell you that she doesn't like their hobgoblin masters and doesn't accept them. They tell you the clan won't ransom for her. "She weak and not accept it," they say to you. "But we strong, we take you to chief if want. You make deal. Kill these weak kobold scum and take your rightful place." They try to spit on her but they don't have any moisture left...
- Gooshie is the potion the kobolds make, Daemyar is still under the effects and you have 2 more. - These goblins are in no position to not believe you but you can make any rolls you wish - Ithelion, you manage to make the air immediately around you more fresh smelling
Daemyar will get the grumpy one loose from the wall and drags her out of the room by her chains.
“Garnet, use your-“ He stops himself mid sentence, shaking his head in some abashed. “Warrior Garnet, ally and friend... I hope to draw your attention to a need for your strength in this weakened creature. I would trust your judgement.” It’s a very formal request, near ritualistic by its tone.
“I would have this creature know that its kin are ruled by the enemy.”
"As it turns out, Daemyar has done what I was going to suggest. I was also going to suggest we pretend to kill the one outside, so the ones here might give more information..."
Daemyar - before you can remove the chains, both Meepo and Yurrdo move to stop you. "Meepo hear nothing 'bout taking prisoner! Yusdrayal not say that! Please, Meepo can't help if you do this!" Meepo looks to Ithelion, "Come, we ask Queen!" Meepo yips something to Yurrdo - trying to calm him down as well. Ithelion - you can roll intimidation if you like. You view the suffering in this chamber coldly and dispassionately, memories of your past exploits well up but you push them down...
Garnet - the sight of this room is extremely hard for you to bear. Your personality has been forged by your ideal of protecting others and you begin to question this situation. You recall the words of Yusdrayal - the goblins hate their hobgoblin overlords... It brings you back to your time as a guard in the gnome city, the helpless svirfneblin prisoner tied to the chair, enduring hit after hit after hit, its face a bloody pulp....and for what? Roll a wisdom save please.
Krom - you are able to keep your cool in here, but your hatred of these things runs deep.
Shere - you've been places and you know actions have consequences; the old bards sing about redemption in the face of evil. At the same time, these goblins attacked the kobolds and should receive their just desserts.
[If you remove the goblins, you will risk the wrath of the kobolds, as they have not agreed to this course of action (yet). Just an FYI.]
So he doesn't make the paladin mad at him he tells the elf in a message
"Go ask the queen how much for the female goblin so things go smoother. If she thinks we're taking it as a slave. Course you know we're not really. I intend to let her go after this."
Shere turns to the two kobolds struming his lute a quieting tune "Please forgive the Hobgoblins impulsiveness he will not steal the queens prize and we will gain permission from the great Yusdrayal to take the female goblin" He drops two gold to them hoping it will calm the situation
(Note if Meepo stopped Daemyar I don't think Garnet would of came in right? Or did she already?")
Ithelion nods, "I'll see what I can arrange. Keep the others from doing anything rash. Use your magic if you have to. If you can talk to me at a distance, keep me informed. I will then be able to do the same."
She turns toward Yurrdo and Meepo, speaking quietly and calmly Draconic. "Apologies. We mean no disrespect. The hobgoblin has sworn blood-vengeance on the others of his kind, and is young, poorly disciplined, and prone to extreme violence. My friends will control him, and we will not take the prisoner without permission. I will petition the queen myself."
If she seems to have their agreement, she turns to Garnet next. "Our best option is to talk to the queen, or Meepo's folk will justifiably spill a great deal of blood", she says. "Perhaps you can help reason with her." And protect me if things go awry. "Are you willing to try to use your hitherto untapped charm to persuade her if necessary? Many lives could be saved, and great evil averted."
[[ If Garnet is outside: ]]
Ithelion exits the chamber, closes the door behind her and turns to Garnet. "There would be great advantage in persuading the queen to free at least one of her prisoners. Are you willing to try to use your hitherto untapped charm to persuade her if necessary? Many lives would be saved."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Garnet recognizes this, it's familiar, she's done this before. Looking around at the frightened goblins she feels shame and anger. What use is this torture? It doesn't do anything but destroy, confessions made from pain mean nothing!
She hears the others speaking but only vaguely, untill Daeymar says her name and she focuses on him. His formal tone halts her train of thought. She doesn't understand what he is asking of her looking down at the tortured goblin he pulled forward she unconsciously reaches out.
Ithelion's voice cuts through to Garnet and she hears the rationale in the request. Some of Ithelion's words grate on her nerves. Garnet can tell the elf is trying to manage her, like a mother subtly controls a unruly child with misdirection.
Garnet answers Daeymar before following after Ithelion. She will speak to him in a softer but similar formal tone "I will do what is needed and I trust you to do the same." She puts meaning behind that sentence. "Do no harm while we are gone. There is no honor in this." She waves her hand broadly at the room indicating the torture in general.
When they are out of the room, Ithelion pauses and turns to Garnet. "Thank you. I had not expected Daemyar to be so rash...that potion..." she shakes her head "...I should have anticipated it." An impulsive child, now on some kind of euphoric! Gods! Adathar has a lot to answer for.
She stares at the paladin for a time, looking her up and down. This one has issues, piled on issues, buried on rotting issues, all on a bedrock of misconceptions. Typical paladin.Better with me than in there, though!
She dusts her clothing down, cleaning off the imagined and real grime before nodding in satisfaction. Pots and kettles...but routines. Routines help. "Do you need a moment to collect yourself. The discussion with the queen is important and might be difficult."
Yusdrayal shrugs, and thinks for a moment. "I think what you're describing we call 'The Snake' - a place where the goblins hide and shoot from behind their little walls. Cowards! It's close but here," she points to the guarded door, "It's much closer."

Ithelion walks over to Shere and whispers, "Can we talk...magically, so they don't hear?"
More loudly, she points to the female who spoke first, "That one...we should give that one special attention."
She does her best to make a menacing leer.
