You all prepare for your rest and you can't help but notice the stares of the kobold commoners and traders and children as you claim the same area you did previously. As you settle in, Shere begins to play his song of rest and it creates quite a crowd around all of you. The kobolds stare in awe at the feline humanoid plucking away at the strings. As he finishes, the kobolds are ecstatic and nodding in agreement that this was a great song. They pat you on the back or nod in your direction and give you some praise and can be heard humming your song as they leave your area.
The rest passes without incident - after all, you are protected by a lot of kobolds! [Elosa doesn't need to sleep and she contents herself by looking for mice and lizards. Song of rest is also unnecessary as it is for short rests].
As you wake up at the end of your rest, you are given a bunch of food - some hot, some not - by a gaggle of friendly kobolds.
@Ithelion - you rest and hold the items, studying them and turning them over in your hands. The feather is Quaal's feather token (tree): This tiny object looks like a feather.
You must be outdoors to use this token. You can use an action to touch it to an unoccupied space on the ground. The token disappears, and in its place a nonmagical oak tree springs into existence. The tree is 60 feet tall and has a 5-foot-diameter trunk, and its branches at the top spread out in a 20-foot radius.
The whistle:
This whistle is carved from transparent crystal, and it resembles a tiny dragon curled up like a snail. The name Night Caller is etched on the whistle in Dwarvish runes. Erky me
If you blow the whistle in darkness or under the night sky, it allows you to cast the animate dead spell. The target can be affected through up to 10 feet of soft earth or similar material, and if it is, it takes 1 minute to claw its way to the surface to serve you. Once the whistle has animated an undead creature, it can’t do so again until 7 days have passed.
Once every 24 hours, you can blow the whistle to reassert control over one or two creatures you animated with it.
Erky meets you after the rest and perks up: "I hope you all slept well. Do you still wish me to accompany you? I have to say that I am still curious about what lies below in the depths...My own task is still unfulfilled, after all." [you can have Erky stay with you or decline his offer; if he or any other NPC travel in your party, XP is divided accordingly].
Earlier he bows to the kobolds then after a rest and the gnome asks he says "You'rre a healerr Si? From what I've seen of my friends we need another healerr" He looks to the elf "Well?"
Ithelion supresses a laugh, "Are you saying that we are accident-prone? Of the five of us, three are skilled in healing I think. Soon, we will have more healers than the royal household! But..." she looks speculatively at the gnome, "...Erky would be a welcome addition: a fellow scholar may have valuable insights, and as you suggest, it is hard to have too many healers."
With that, she turns to Erky, "So, master gnome, I know you can heal -- thank you, by the way..." she says, with a slight bow, "...but can you fight in any way? And what do you know of these ruins -- the ways we might approach the Druid Belak, perhaps, or...I heard tell of an old library and would be interested to hear anything you might know of it. And you mentioned your own task?"
"Aye," the deep gnome nods. "My task is my own and one which I have already mentioned. The blacksmith and I are looking for old relics, antique weapons or clues that would lead toward Durgeddin's lost kingdom. I don't know this Belak, only what I have heard during my captivity. The goblins fear him and work for him. But there is something more living down there, something foul." He looks at Garnet and Krom, "You must feel it too? A library? That would be most interesting..." He grins slightly,"Of course I will help as I am able with the tools available. But perhaps a deal is in order? Any relics or antique weapons - anything that may point to the lost dwarf kingdom I will claim as my own. How about it?"
You notice that all around you, it seems the kobolds are preparing and mobilizing for something. Questions about what is going on are met with tight-lipped shrugs, except for the few who continue to congratulate Shere.
Ithelion laughs at the gnome's suggestion, and glances at Krom, before turning back to the Erky. "We have worked well as a team thus far, sharing what we find according to our needs. I see no reason to change that now.Even if Krom were to agree to such terms -- and I sincerely doubt he will -- I would be disinclined to them."
She sizes up the small figure for a moment, then frowns at the activity of the kobolds, before apparently coming to a decision. "I'm glad were were able to free you and to save you, but perhaps it is best you return to Oakhurst, before things become dangerous again: We have created a power vacuum, and I fear the Queen is preparing to fill it."
Ithelion keeps an eye on the kololds as she looks through her spell books, considering her meager choices. As she does this she speaks quietly to Daemyar, "Take Elosa and see what's going on in the queen's room, and maybe with Meepo." If Daemyar agrees to this, Elosa swoops down and positions herself on Daemyar's shoulder, and she divides her attention between seeming to study her books and the visions that Elosa provides.
(( If she has time, she will also ritual cast Comprehend Languages again ))
Daemyar seems to be distracted with his own thoughts, and is unphased by the owl.
“I care nothing for these goblins,” he says a bit suddenly. “And they are not allies. Our promises to them are meaningless. But a power shift here may effect the access to the tree, and Belak. We could... interfere.”
(( Since Daemyar did not agree, Elosa remains...elsewhere(?)...probably with Ithelion, watching the door ))
"Focus, Daemyar! They are planning something without us. That is why I asked you to investigate. Whatever we do now, needs to be to our advantage as well."
Ithelion nods, and sends Elosa after him, "Thank you. We -- well, some people -- have a saying, you know: The enemy of my enemy is just second on the list."
@daemyar - two of the queen's special guards stop you before you can get anywhere near her, just after the locked door towards the goblin area. It seems that wandering there on your own without any of the others is a problem...
Garnet really doesn't know what's happening with the kobolds running around but she has a hunch that the queen choose not to try for peace. She had a bit of time to think while on her rest and she feels that this thing with the kobolds vs goblins is getting out of hand. If the queen and her people are set on war then it is their decision alone. Garnet will gather her things quickly then head over next to Ithelion and Shere. "We should probably go after Daeymar. If the queen means to press her advantage against the kobolds we should be together."
Ithelion looks up at Garnet then closes her eyes for a few seconds, "I am with him." Once more she perceives the world through Elosa's senses, then returns to her own senses and describes the scene to Garnet.
(( @DM: What did she see -- is the scene notably different to the various other times they have visited the room? ))
Perseption: 3 for when Garnet's watch rolls around.
Shere takes 1st watch since the elf is doing most of it and plays his song of rest Perception 15

Never opened myself this way.
