Theatre of the mind for this one. You are all on a narrow ledge, about ten feet wide. The hippogriff is approaching from the sky and at the moment, it's fifteen feet from you and flying over the valley below. You can't reach it with any melee attacks, but any ranged attack with range 15 feet or higher can get it.
Round One: Kobold Wash, Alton and Balassar in any order Hippogriff
The kobold squeals and tries to break free of the manacles: DEX check 9
It pulls and pulls at the metal; you see skin get scraped off, blood dripping as it tries to force its hands out of the restraints, but it fails and gives up, whimpering and cowering as the massive bird draws near.
It's still enough though. The ice from your breath seems to coat the flying creature; instead of swooping in to attack, it crashes head first against the mountain, unable to use its wings to change course, and you hear a loud snap as its neck breaks.
The kobold squeaks again, but remains firmly in place. There is a dead hippogriff on the path ahead of you, and combat is over - you are out of initiative.

Wash points to the hippogriff and tells the kobald "See how quickly we took that creature down? That will be you if you try to run again or pull anything funny. No more warnings, you just get a painful death."
Intimidation: 22
[Let me know if I get advantage from our quick killing of the beast (or if another character gives it).]
He then wipes the blood off the kobald's wrists and bandages them, though does so in a less gentle manner than he usually would.
You don't get advantage, but you don't need it. The kobold, impressed by your prowess, grovels before Balassar and promises to obey without question.
The sound of rushing water grows louder as you finally reach the top of the Silver Falls. The impressive flow of water cascades down the mountainside toward Hupperdook below - it's loud, but not unpleasantly so. And the view below is truly beautiful. Around the crest of the falls, the rocky earth is a deep, rich red.
Wash says "The crude drawing suggests that the secret cave should be behind the waterfall. Balassar, can you ask our kobald friend here exactly where the entrance is and what we should expect in the entrance?"
There. It's there, the kobold says, pointing. With its guidance, you are able to see a ten-foot wide rock shelf, covered with red mud, that leads down behind the waterfall.
Now, let me go, yes? the kobold asks Balassar hopefully.
Wash sees where the kobald is pointing and suggests to Balassar "I take it that is the entrance? Maybe we should let our kobald friend lead us in with a blade to his throat? Also, I think we move silently from here on in and try to stay in the shadows where possible."
Stealth: 6
Wash starts walking with a clunk, clunk, clunk, even though he is not wearing heavy armour.

Balassar looks at Wash "No, these ones are expendable." he just tosses the chains to wash "I'll let you decide his fate." with that he begins to walk towards the entrance trying to be quite.

Wash makes a show of readying an eldritch blast in front of the kobald, grabs the manacle (I’m assuming hands are manacled behind its back) and says "You can survive this, but only if you warn us of all danger before we reach it".
[Wash isn’t as callous as he is trying to make out, so deception: 23 ]

Wash, Alton and Balassar in any order
Hippogriff
The kobold squeals and tries to break free of the manacles: DEX check 9

Wash, Alton and Balassar are up.
Wash invokes the words "Thol si hwul" and releases a blast of energy from his outstretched hand at the creature bearing down on them:
Attack: 6 Damage: 6
Alton smiles and holds up his crossbow and takes aim at the hippogriff, "Glad I looted this earlier."
Attack: 15 Damage: 11 Piercing
Be excellent to each other, and roll for initiative dudes!
A blast of powerful energy, and a well aimed crossbow bolt, bring the beast to within an inch of its life.
Balassar is up.
Balassar draws his sword and shield as he launches an ice breath at the creature.
OOC:
Con save 12 for half
7 ice damage
Hippogriff CON save: 16
It's still enough though. The ice from your breath seems to coat the flying creature; instead of swooping in to attack, it crashes head first against the mountain, unable to use its wings to change course, and you hear a loud snap as its neck breaks.
(OOC: Grumble grumble stupid low initiative rolls...)

Wrong thread
Balassar will just smile as Wash makes his comments sheathing his sword for the Kobold to see.
OOC:
Helping Wash to intimidate the Kobold.

What would you like to do?
Wash says "The crude drawing suggests that the secret cave should be behind the waterfall. Balassar, can you ask our kobald friend here exactly where the entrance is and what we should expect in the entrance?"
Balassar just looks at the Kobold "What type of guards does your master have at the entrance? Where is the entrance?"
There. It's there, the kobold says, pointing. With its guidance, you are able to see a ten-foot wide rock shelf, covered with red mud, that leads down behind the waterfall.

Alton takes in the view as Balassar talks with the Kobold.

You set off towards the place the kobold pointed. Are you releasing the kobold, or keeping it?
If you are approaching stealthily, then can Alton and Balassar also make Stealth checks?
Balassar looks at Wash "No, these ones are expendable." he just tosses the chains to wash "I'll let you decide his fate." with that he begins to walk towards the entrance trying to be quite.
