Flint listens to Alaric and interjects his thoughts, “If this Klag is ordering kidnappings and maybe worse, I’d be feart to leave it living. As for the goblins, I agree that incapacitation is better than killing. Let’s use the pommel rather than the blade with the wee ones.”
Flint spends the next few minutes rummaging in the nearby undergrowth for barriers, tubers and edible flowers. He offers what he finds to the group saying, "It has been a bit of time since we ate, here is a pick-me-up, if you like." [Here I am using the wanderer feature for outlander]
Alaric takes the food, "I truly hope you know what these are...my usual rule is boiled, baked, or roasted..."
"I agree...I hope Archimedes may give us some insights, but a methodical approach may be best....unless we can free the captives early to bolster our numbers. But we should keep Karg alive to question, if we can.""
Alvara accepts the food from Flint gratefully, the fresh plants a welcome addition to the rations they had been eating the last few days. She gives a flower petal to Archimedes, who nibbles on it daintily while sitting on her shoulder.
While chewing slowly, she considers Alaric's plan. "Archie's definitely brave 'nough to go in and look around... but it'll be better if I can get close to the cave too... When I'm close enough to him, I can see and hear what he does... I think the tome said I had to be within a hundred feet of him."
"I don't have the map, but I tend to remember such things. It's....ah...a professional requirement" says Alaric with a smile. "We may want to ask Barek, but I think the forest came quite close to the entrance, at least on the east side -- which is where Karg is."
He thinks for a moment, then continue, "If I recall correctly, the cave enters into a cliff or hill of some kind. They may have guards on top, and you may be able to stay close to...Archie...from above."
"Wha-" Alvara pauses mid question, chiding herself to let her curiosity about Alaric's past pass and makes a mental note to ask Alaric more about his past later.
"Hmm... the forest would work... above would work too... Maybe they'll have fewer guards on top than close to the entrance."
"The forest might be easiest, but perhaps we should explore when we get closer...although we may have limited time: if they expect Barek's group back, and he doesn't return..."
Eraminus sits and listens for a bit, "The cave entrance is to the north. To the west should be the river which flows from it. The map he drew showed that the forest in one area, closest to the river, came almost to the entrance of the cave, minus a small break in the trees." He takes Flint up on his offer, "Thank you."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Flint nods to Eraminus, “Aye, let’s move while ye can still see. If ye need help, I will be close.” Flint looks at the trail ahead and into the forest. “Maybe we go off-trial and stick to just inside the forest for the rest o’ the way. I don’t want to be spotted out in the open or fall prey to a trap we don’t see. I should be able to guide us there trail or no.” Flint turns to Alvara and says, “Let’s try to get ye close enough to use that bonnie creature.” He gives a smile and nod to Archimedes.
If the group agrees, Flint studies the curvature of the land and the way the foliage is dispersed, trying to guide them through the forest.

They trudge through the forest, Flint finding the easiest paths to take. After nearly thirty minutes of walking, they come to the cliff edge. (The entrance to the cave is 50ft to the East, while a small slope leading to the top of the cliff is 35ft to the West.)

Eraminus whispers, "How about you sneak towards the cave and investigate the immediate interior with Archie while Alvara and I head up top?" He glances around, looking for any movement.
Alaric nods, and lets Archie crawl onto his arm, then starts moving forward stealthily. He stays close to the ground, to allow Archie to leave as soon as he is ready.
The entrance of the cave is dark, no torches can be seen coming from it. The small river seen on the map, flows through the mouth, a small ledge rests on the wall of the opposite side you are on, leading deeper into the cave. Two torches sit near a small wooden wall on the East side of the river, two shadows are visible.

Alaric tries to direct Archie's attention to the hut, hoping that Alvara is watching. He holds four TWO fingers up, then lowers them all and raises two and points to the hut, then lowers two and raises them again, and points down the tunnel. He then points to the tunnel and shrugs.
