One day I’ll learn to do that... Alyssa would muse as she’d return to her senses in the guild’s teleportation room. She’d follow the others out to be greeted by the ever enthusiastic Sam himself. His enthusiasm was almost infectious. It was hard for the elf to stand there without a dimpled smile as he gushed. She’d nod her head before quickly following up with a quick wave in greeting.
In truth, Alyssa had not been expecting to find herself outside the hall and into the streets so soon. But there was something refreshing about it. It was a little easier to breathe out there at the moment. And that’s when Ramious would break the silence.
Alyssa’s eyes would soften with an accompanying smile as their tiefling beamed with pride, sharing his excitement and aspirations. She was proud of him too. The elf would continue to lend her ears and listen quietly, stifling a soft giggle over the exclamation of being ‘independently wealthy’. It hadn’t dawned on Alyssa, or she just refused to aknowledge the earlier hints, when Ramious would give Bugs his hug that he was actually, possibly, parting ways?
The wizards smile would waver a little. Another goodbye? And when he’d first start with holding out a hand as if he were going to shake her hand like Leons, Alyssa’s head would tilt. But when he’d reach with the second arm, she’d already move in for a squeeze. “Don’t get yourself into too much trouble andpfft hey-“ She’d be ‘forced’ to let go to try to fix the hair Ramious just fluffed. And before she knew it, their tiefling was on his way.
Alyssa would then look to Leon and Bugs trying her best to hide her sadness. She would push her lips back into the best smile she could muster. “I think I could use some time to do just what Sam suggested... surprisingly in the order he suggested it.” She’d let out an awkward chuckle. “Throw some studying in there. You’re both welcomed to join of course.” The elf would smile. And should there be no new business, she would do just that.
Alyssa would set out to unload for the day. She would return to offload her gear and equipment. First thing on the agenda was rest and clean up. And a bath was just the thing. As much as she loved digging in the dirt, it always felt good and refreshing to wash up after. It’d allow her time to sit back, relax and think about what she wanted to do next.
Alyssa decided to make habit of checking in with Will, and the always listening Sam, in the mornings before she’d wonder off the rest of the day. The wizard would offer to run shopping errands, help tidy up, even help with guild administration and document processing should they need it. Anything to feel useful or helpful during her time there... and to keep her mind busy. It was also good for her to keep up to date on the jobs coming in and going out.
Eventually she’d set out to do her shopping, or at least find someone, as per Sam’s suggestion, that may be able to find what she was looking for, for her. Alyssa would give up her trusty leather armour and purchase an upgrade of similarly fitting Mithral half plate. While purchasing the new armour, a feathered token would catch her attention. She would request to buy it, adding it onto her now upgraded gear. The wizard would add a couple spare healing potions, spell components and calligraphy supplies for spell copying.
And in the evenings, she’d make habit to stop in at the Yawning Portal. Alyssa would find the most private tabled corner that was out of the way so she could sprawl out. She’d order a snack and a drink, or maybe a few... for while she worked.
The first evening, she’d decide to write a letter home, telling of her grand adventures. She’d drink perhaps a few too many as she reminisced, getting a little sloppy at the end. Not really remembering if she signed her name or not, the elf was already sealing it and sending Hue on his way. Feeling ambitious and wanting to try something before she forgot, Alyssa wanted refill the empty spell slot in her ring of storing. She made the decision to store the sleep spell, but instead of taking the ring off to focus the spell into the ring, she ended up casting it on herself. Alyssa would snooze at the table until someone sent her to bed.
The second evening she came armed with spells to copy and studies to keep her busy. Taking seat at the same table, Alyssa would order snacks and water... to start. This time, she decided to start with storing the spell into her ring first. And this time, she remembered to take it off her finger for good measure. Once the spell was safely stored, the wizard would sprawl her books and papers all over the table as she began to plug away. It wasn’t long before she’d make it through a couple drinks all of her spells, and be sent on her hiccuping way.
The third evening Alyssa felt like her mind was getting foggy. Perhaps she had been indulging a little too much. She was also running low on supplies and items to research. The was one rabbit hole she was trying to avoid. The less she had on her plate, the more that weighed on her. The scholar needed more to do. So while she stood in front of the door of the Yawning Portal, with her hand on the handle, the cleric considered turning away. Maybe one more... She’d open the door.
Ramious? Alyssa would blink, swearing she recognized the hulking silhouette at the bar. And then she heard his familiar sigh. “Rammy!” Before she knew it, she ran up to the bar to hug the tiefling, giving him a tight squeeze. Maybe almost knocking him off the barstool. And at the first groan of pain, he’d feel her magic wash over him starting to mend his wounds. Realizing she could be smothering a beat up Ramious, she’d let go as abruptly as she embraced him. “Sorry.” The elf would mutter embarrassingly. But then she’d notice his lip and his swollen eye before cupping his face to get a better look, “Are you okay? Do we need to get bugs to patch you up?”. Her eyes would dart around concerned before she’d gently let go. The wizard would flick her wrists a couple times to use her magic to call upon some water from a glass near by. She’d shape them into small cubes to freeze, wrapping them in a piece of cloth. She’d use this to alternate icing his lip and his eye while she inspected the rest of him. Glancing to the deeper cut on his arm, “We’ll get Bugs to patch you up.” She’d confirm with a soft chuckle.
Back in Waterdeep Leon would walk onto the street outside of the guild hall with the others. He would smile at the teary goodbye with Ramious, enjoying the fact he had found such good friends. As the tiefling headed off, Leon hoped the man had the luck he seemed to believe he had, and would find all he desired with his well-earned treasure. He had a feeling he would see the tiefling again.
Saying his own goodbyes to the others he would head out, needing to find a place to stay for the time being. After getting a room at the Yawning Portal, he would spend some time in the common room there, listening for any stories of silver swords or any mind flayer activities. When he could he would head out onto the town and find some sellers of magical items. He would purchase a set of magical full plate armor, and trade in his new magical greataxe for a more powerful version of his greatsword. The original greatsword would go in trade, plus some coin, for his armor. He also buys a pearl, to use with a spell he paid a local wizard to let him copy into his own spellbook. He actually bought two spells from the wizard, Identify and Levitate.
Back at the Yawning Portal Leon would speak to some adventurers who had spotted something that sounded like a Mind Flayer in the dungeon under the tavern. Leon would try to see if they had any more information on it, and speak to others as they go in or come out of the well. He would be considering entering the well himself when he noticed Ramious and Alyssa, and the state Ramious was in. Putting aside thoughts of trying the well, which he knew he was not actually ready for, and for sure not by himself, Leon moved over to the pair.
"You look about the same as the first time I saw you." Leon says to Ramious as he takes a seat. "Guessing the other guy looks a lot worse though..."
Ramious' grin at seeing Alyssa, was like a five year old's birthday grin, mixed with a good amount of ...relief? He shrugs off all the attention on his wounds, though accepted the magical ice and attention nonetheless and even happier for it. He grinned to see Leon approach, and shrugged in response, "I wish....sometimes life don't fight fair." He looked around, "Well, the group is almost all here!"
He took a deep breath, and said earnestly, "You know, it seems maybe I was too quick to try to settle down. I think life got other plans for me. All I know is...it's good to see you two. Actual friends."
He grins at Alyssa's armor, poking at it, then showing off his own similar armor, "Hey...pretty nice choice. Great minds must think the same, right?"
Enjoying the moments with his friends, Ramious had already made up his mind, but...who could say if his friends would feel the same. In case they wouldn't he simply enjoyed some light conversation for a few quick moments, hoping beyond hope that Bugs would show up....before he asked them what his heart wanted him to ask. As the evening sank past, the thought went further and further away, fear holding him back...which was ridiculous...but was what it was. If they said no, and left....well...better not to ask. Maybe tomorrow right?

"We just need Bugs now." Leon says after a while of talking. "Then we'd be all set to go back and see what other jobs the guild has available." He takes a drink of his ale as he sees how his words affect the others.
"Should we gang up on these bullies for you?" Alyssa would blurt, only half joking as she'd step off to the side with a smile as Leon would join them. She wouldn't move from reaching to ice their tiefling's face though, making sure to hold it against the worst of the swelling.
The wizards expression would soften and turn into a comforting smile in response to Ramious' confession about life having other plans for him. And it was good to see them. Alyssa had felt herself starting to frey during the time away. It started to don on her how lost she felt without them to fuss over. She never got into enough trouble on her own to ever warrant anything worth missing. Sure it was only 3 days, but, she was guilty of missing them and the shenanigans they got themselves into.
Her eyes would follow Ramious poking from her new armour then to his. She'd let out a chuckle before doing a little cheesy spin to flourish her feathered accents. "Right?! It's pretty light. And doesn't make a sound! Mind you mine hasn't been field tested yet." She'd reach over to dust a little dirt and scratch a little dry blood off of Ramious' before going back to icing his face.
"I can't imagine Bugs would be too far. His ears are probably buzzing!" The elf would snort softly at her own joke. "Just wait. Before you know it, you'll feel his presence!" Alyssa would walk the fingers of her free hand up Ramious' arm to mimic Bernard's fey crawling on him before she'd abruptly boop him on the nose. She'd give a playful wink, waiting for the tiefling to shudder in reaction before she'd chuckle.
"I'm sure Will or Sam would have something waiting for us back at the guild. I've kept in touch."
With Leon's words, Ramious would break into a full on grin, "Abso-fricken-lutely. If you guys are into it, I'd be happy gettin outta this town this minute!"
Ramious scratches the back of his neck absently and gives a little shiver from Alyssa's toying, then break into a vigour face rub ending with a full hair shake. He grins back at her, "Well, I hope so, he's a good ally, and a nice genuine guy! I mean, maybe if you guys want we can go lookin for him...then drag him with us kickin and screamin if we hafta!"

Alyssa would giggle before nodding. She'd put up a finger. "Well! Maybe we can test out some new magic of mine. What's an object only Bugs would be carrying?"
Proposing: Locate Object for a little RP fun if desired.
"What about potion, ya gave me?" Bugs says as he walks up behind them. He got a big grin on his face and some newer looking armor. "I just got in this morning... bought some new armor and was out in the woods breaking it in. Just needed to shower."
He rubs his hands together a little, "Some people can handle dirt, some bugs but rarely do they like both... Anyways, it good to see everyone so lively."
Of course Sam and Will were there on their usual place, deep into some very interesting conversation, it seemed. The morning (or was it evening?) was quiet and echo carried Sam's voice to the door: "... and when they run out of crazy locals willing to go there, they sent a request to as, as if we have here someone mad enough to... Oh, hello there!" He finally noticed the group and gave the biggest smile his teeth allowed. "And so you are back! Was I right or was I right? Could not stay away, are you? Adventuring is the strongest addiction there is, as I've always said. And you are not a minute too soon either - I have a perfect request right here, practically with your names inscribed in it." Sam made a dramatic (well, more dramatic) pause and unfolded a scroll, decorated with silk threads and wax seals. "The big request all the way from Maztica! A magnificent land! I can assure you, never before have you seen, or, probably even heard about anything so fascinating! And did I mention payment? A thousand gold. To each of you!" (Sam raised his finger underlining the admittedly impressive amount) "With - of course - all the spoils you can get from wherever you would have to go. All of these for a simple job of finding some creature and getting rid of it. They are bit vague about the nature of the beast, but surely dragonslayers would not care about such a minor details."
"Oh! That's right! The potion of fly- Bugs!" Hearing the suggestion Alyssa was already ready to begin preparing the spell when she'd come to realize it was Bernard himself. She'd catch herself bounce in excitement that everyone was together again, pulling him in for a quick hug before looking over his new armour.
"Has everyone got to test out their new gear but me!?" The elf would place her hands on her hips to look over Leon with a raised brow wondering if their Githyanki had a little practice during the time away too. Her smirk would turn smile at his suggestion to see if the guild had any new jobs. "And you're not getting away without one either." Alyssa would sneak in a quick hug for Leon.
A chuckle would escape her lips "Speaking of clean up! Bugs, can you patch up Rammy on the way? I think he could use your healing touch!" She'd point with exaggeration towards their tiefling 'trying to get away' when he'd turn to leave.
Alyssa would stand back a moment to watch the three lead the way out the door before turning around to the barmaid. She was returning the cloth she used, but instead of the ice, she had replaced it with the last of her gold. The elf would just offer a smile and a wink before skipping out the door after the boys.
Upon their entry into guild, Alyssa would stand politely as she listened and waiting for the theatrical Sam to run through his shpeel. He sure enjoyed buttering them up. As soon as he unraveled the scroll, the elf would move in to get a closer look at the document. She'd read it over as Sam continued to try baiting them with promises of gold. Her eyes would look up to him with a cocked brow when he'd say they wouldn't care about such details. She cared about those details. Though she held no offense to it as she knew Sam was lighthearted. She was playing back. He surely knew she was more interested in the history and knowledge. Okay, she couldn't deny the interest in 'artifacts' hidden amongst 'spoils' of discovery... But where there was vagueness and unknowns, she was interested in filling in those pages from another adventure.
Alyssa trusted this crew. She'd take a step aside from the document to allow the others to review it if they desired. The elf wanted to wait for the others to respond first...
"SHE'S IN. SQUAWK!" Hue would come soaring in, landing on Alyssa's head, stepping all over it.
"Seems like you have yourself a group willing to do this task." Leon says with a shrug, glancing to Ramious. He adjusts his greatsword in its sheath as he looks to the other members of the group. "Anyone have an objection, or should we consider it our next task?"
Bugs hesitates a moment. "Well, I still have lots of gold left and don't really need the money... but 1000gp, well, I could settle down for that much. Had this whole thing about bee keeping and making honey, then mead...." He waves his hands, "yeah let's do it, start up is expensive."
"Never doubted you for second!" declared Sam "I am sure this time you will bring back dragon's head!" He returned his attention to Alyssa, that was still trying to decipher the scroll. Sam's smile was both empathic and smug: "Hard to read, huh? Needs some practice and may be a spell or two. Otomi - even Maztican's do not understand them. Great place! The only of the Huacli city-states, remained unconquered by the Nexalans. Oh, I could talk about Maztican's politics for hours but we have no time for it. Do hope you have something prepared to understand people there, though. Someone among priests and merchants ought to know Common, but I would not count on it too much."
"Now - your clothes. All well and good - don't get me wrong - but, you know - desert? Jungles? Furs do not go well with all that. I say, loose the fur, or at least take something lighter with you. So, are you ready-ready? Will can take you to the circle, right Will? After you sign up the contract, of course. I wish you luck and believe in your full and utter victory!" Whether he truly believed in you or was it a mastered enthusiasm of a professional bard, but his smile radiated confidence.
Young Will did not look half as sure, kept his eyes down and blushed more than usual. After all formalities were finished, he indeed brought you all to the teleportation circle: "You do not have to go right this second. If you want to do something else, you can come back tomorrow. May be you need to buy something still?" He looked at each of you with a hope in his eyes, met Alyssa's gaze, blushed again and ended with "Be careful there" before beginning to read the spell. The circle lines flashed with bright white light - the last thing you saw was Will's eyes full of fear.
When the universe stopped spinning around and the star blizzard died out, you realized one thing thing right away - Sam was right about the clothes. The humid heat struck like a professional fighter - strong and mercilessly. The next realization was worse, though: Will's worries were justified. What you saw around you, was incredibly ... alien, unfamiliar, surreal, and yet, too material to ignore. Rough stone walls and floor - but decorated with strange ornaments and mosaics, light with no visible source of it, no furniture of any kind and no way to tell the purpose of the room you were in. The hit, unfamiliar smells and difficult to identify sounds coming from outside all added to strangeness of the place. Eventually, one of the figure by the wall, that could be taken for a well painted fresco moved slightly. It was a relatively tall thin man (human) with a dark bronze skin and black almond-shaped eyes. He wore something like a white robe, decorated with quite a lot of gold, and looked at the group with unreadable expression on a his angular face.
"You are the hunters sent by the Great House of Warriors from across the sea?" It did not sound exactly as question, more like a statement. But at least it was Common - the man spoke clear but it was obvious, the language is as alien to him as this place to you.
Ramious looks to the group, with a plea that looks a bit like "what did I get myself into" crossed with some "i didn't sign up for this".
He makes an exaggerated "one moment" motion to the man, who...just a moment before spoke common to him, but now Ramious is acting like he has to pantomime everything to him.
He puts down his heavy bag, and begins peeling off clothing. Soon, the dull grey mithril half plate is strapped to bare skin, his muscles rippling under the metal, criss crossed in scars. A thin pair of brown cotton pants that reach just below his knees are the only thing he wears besides his armor. His big wings extend then scrunch back in as he seems to stretch. He puts the extra armor padding, and excess clothing into his bag roughly. He adjusts the rapier at his side, the shield on his back, over his long leather quiver of javelins.
Finally, seeminly ready for this new environment, he nods to the man, making a forward motion, and says, a bit overly loud, "Yes, we are warriors from across the sea. We come to hunt."

The heat hit Leon like a physical blow. He groaned in his full plate armor, and the multiple layers of padding under, not to mention the heavy cloak over it all. Seeing Ramious start to strip, Leon nodded his agreement with that idea. Immediately he started to tug and pull, removing everything he could that was not essential for his protection going into battle. He ignored the local for the moment as he worked. Luckily his people had trained with armor all of their lives, so he had many times had to wear the practice gear over his bare skin. It would be uncomfortable, to be sure, but, like Ramious, better than dealing with the heat.
"Yes, we have come to aid you." Leon says in his best pronounced common he could muster. He glances to the others. "I didn't think to learn comprehend languages when we set out for this... Might have been an oversight."
(Isn't Ramious resistant to fire? Doesn't that make the heat a non-issue?)

Ramious grins at him, “I was sorta hopin we’d have to do kicking and screaming, but this works!”

"Shall we go and see if the guild has any new jobs?" Leon asks, smiling as the group is back together once more.
Ramious grins and stands up to leave.

"So, what do you say?"

Ramious grins at Sam, for the first time not seemingly offended by his cavalier and charming manner.
"We'll take it! Though we didn't slay that little dragon...it ran away. But, maybe this time, right?"

Ramious looks at Bugs, "Settling down costs more than you think my friend. You'll need the cash.." He turns to Sam, "Let's do this."
