Nine did not answer (probably not hearing the question in the speech) but obediently turned to walk forward at first and then froze on place after Ramious' "stop".
Flesh golem turned around and compliantly lumbered in the opposite direction, back, where the group came from. It passed Leon and Alyssa, shambled to the intersection and stopped, not sure where to go. After Bernard explained which direction is the "other hallway", it turned left and shuffled there.
The golem walked a few feet along the corridor without any accidents and turned right with the passage, disappearing from the view. However, just a moment later you hear the monotonous voice of a talking meat sac informed the group: "Master, I fount a trap." And after the short pause "I think it is eating me up."
Careful look around the corner revealed the golem standing waist deep in some black goo that was slowly covering its body. The goo had a shape of big black bump completely blocking the corridor behind.
"Maybe have him attack the stuff." Leon suggests to Bugs. He casts lightning lure Targetting the golem, and attempting to use it to pull the golem out of the stuff. Can the golem choose to fail the STR save or not? DC on save is 14.
Golem can not choose anything, has to be master's order. And with the stuck target it might get tricky. How close to the golem and the black goo Leon stands? And where are others when the lure is used?
I think that depends on how far around the corner the golem is, and this black pool of stuff. Leon would be 15 feet away from the Golem, the max distance for the spell.
Sorry, Denn, the Golem is right around the corner. The options for Leon are to stand 5ft from it or 10ft from it, and somwhere along the wall - Leon was behind, but can get as far as to the opposite corner (still 10ft from golem/blob)
(Portents are 18 and 6 rolled around when we entered the dungeon, March 25. We short rested but not long right? And yes, I'm supposed to choose before the roll. Sometimes it can be a little difficult to apply during pbp.)
Portent (Special)
When you finish a long rest, roll two d20s and record the numbers rolled. You can replace any attack roll, saving throw, or ability check made by you or a creature that you can see with one of these foretelling rolls. You must choose to do so before the roll, and you can replace a roll in this way only once per turn. Each roll can only be used once.
Alyssa would take a look around the corner to see if there's anything unique about this blob, and if it's actually an enemy.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Does Ramious know what this blob is? Roll : 7. Arcana is +2, Nature is +2, Religion is +2, and Survival is +2. Well, I guess it's just +2 then, regardless of the thing.
(Nope.)
Look, a black blob eating their newest pet. ALREADY!?!
He blasts the black goo with some magic, unwilling to wrestle this particular foe.
(Thanks for portent repost - I was sure they were rolled but could not find where)
The black substance, covering now your flesh golem, looked almost alive - the way oozes and molds do, mindless ever-hungry evergrowing organic mass, that much you all could tell. Who knows, though, what kind of twisted variety of those monsters Keraptis grew in his tunnels?
Both arrows sent by Bernard pierced the black substance and dissolved in it with hissing, leaving behind - even if for a moment - some gaps. But Ramious's bolt of fire was surprisingly dodged! The blob was probably not as unaware as it looked.
After Leon sent his electric charge at the golem, and blue lasso tried to jerk the golem out, the thing shuddered (1018) and was almost ripped in half with the force but at the last moment with a disgusting slurping sound sacked it back. The moment the lasso faded away, though, a black appendage? protrusion? extended towards the party and between the group and the blob appeared another, smaller version of the black puddle, that immediately tried to lash out toward Leon - the closest person.
Proper combat begins!
Initiative: Big Blob: 8 small blob (b2): 7, Flesh Golem: 8
B2 is within 5ft from Leon, big blob - 10ft from him.
(Of course! lol I needed the refresh too. With 3 divination wizards, I'm trying to remember to note them accurately on my sheets now XD) (Beauty rolls folks! lol)
Alyssa's eyes would go wide taking in what was unfolding before her. At the appearance of a smaller blob closer to Leon, she'd reach over Rami's shoulder as she'd begin singing a hymn a little different than she usually sings. A flash of light would streak forth from her palm towards the small blob.
If it hits the target, it'd glitter in a mystical dim light. (On a hit, the next attack roll made against this target before the end of your next turn has advantage, thanks to the mystical dim light glittering on the target until then.)
Initiative order: Leon (21) - Alyssa (13) - Flesh Golem (8) - Big Blob (8) - Bernard (5) - Ramious (3)
Trident pierced the small agitated goo and it exploded into tiny drops that left a ring of "melted" algae on the floor (Leon got a triumphant trumpeting in his head from Wave). Some drops hit Leon as well ( 3 acid damage) and landed on his armor, but the half-plate surprisingly remained as shiny as it was avoiding any corrosion.
Meanwhile, the ball of brilliant fire thrown by Alyssa burned quite a hole in the goo, spreading all over the giant blob and outlining its shape in the dark corridor. The shape looked significantly less threatening by now, still clinging to the golem, though.
Nine with his "meaty" sticky voice answered Bernard's command "Yes, master" and tried to free himself once more: 12 fighting the black substance that had no intention to let its prey go: 18 and glue the golem to the place.
There was something positive in it, though - the big chank of easy food like an already caught flesh golem seemed to occupy all attention of the monstrous goo. ( 22, 20, 18 )
