It seemed like a right choice: the tunnel, where underground river was getting in, opened up into the same long, narrow cavern. A narrow ledge on the north side overlooks the river. A bridge of stone spans the river, leading to a larger ledge on the south side that follows the course of the river to the east. The bridge is sturdy and sound; there’s no danger in crossing it.
There is nothing of interest on that side of the bridge, but as you crossed it and continue follow the river, you see to your right (along the south wall) a short flight of stone steps leading down to a wooden door that stands half-open.
As he approached he could see stagnant water pools in the small landing at the base of the steps and in the doorway, presumably filling the room beyond as well. The area smells of rot.
Stale water is getting deeper as Ramious wades into it. It has all the texture and odor of water from the flower vase forgotten for a month in a warm place. In the corner of the eastern wall tiefling can see a skeleton, submerged into the pool.
Leon follows the tiefling, but stops at the door as Ramious wades in further. "Anything in there worth dealing with this smell best be pretty good..." He grumbles as he waits for Ramious to finish looking around.
"Right," Bernard says as he high tailed it out of that nasty chamber. Once out of the chamber he takes a deep breath of fresher air. Then he searches for traps at the other door.
Ramious stops once the water gets more than a foot deep. He looks back at the group. "Ya, you're right, there's nothing in here...." He turns and walks out of the room where nothing happens and continues on with the group towards the far end of the cave without any other incidents occurring.
(We shall consider Bernard's post to be done before the group investigated the second door)
Water was obviously deeper than one foot inside the room. Ramious observed the uninspiring insides of it from the safer distance of the last stares - unpleasant, but relatively safe. Even if there is something on that skeleton, it probably not worth the hassle.
Leaving wet and smelly foot prints on the cave floor, Ramious is leading the group further east. The rock stairs climb steeply, turn north, and then descend toward the east again into a cavern very much like the one you just left, but smaller. A ledge along the river continues east to a door on the north wall, and the rushing river separates you from a ledge on the southern side.
A large, strange-looking stalagmite stands in the middle of the southern ledge. A cave fish flops helplessly on the bank nearby.
After the boys were done playing in the water this time, Alyssa would offer to repeat her air drier magic to dry them off again. Once they’ve followed the thiefling long through to the next area, the elf couldn’t help but notice the curious stalagmite as she eyed the helpless fish. The archaeologist would take a closer look at the rock on her way to try to save the fish.
Bernard would hold his hand out stopping Alyssa. He whispers, "it might be a trap." He then draws forth his fey bugs and directs them to the fish, at first to move it and then to move it towards water.
Careful approach proved to be justified: a strand extends from the stalagmite, catching the thrashing cave fish. It pulls the fish toward the rock formation — and then, suddenly, a fang-filled maw gapes open in the stalagmite and devours the fish in one bite.
Before we continue - this is the map. For Leon - the group in on one side of the river, the stalagmite - on another (the "river" is 5ft wide and the current is strong). The cave is not that wide, between you and the stalagmite is less than 30ft.
Javelin did not even scratched the rocky structure, though, the force bolts would definitely affect it.
Since I did not indicate the distance before "are you sure" question is in order.
Ramious grins at Leon, then grins at Bugs. Then he carefully moves down the remaining passage.

He comes up short. Right? Right. Of course that's right. He looks at the stagnant water pools and shrugs, continuing on to push the door open boldly.

Leon waits to see the results of the bugs moving the fish.
Ramious watches to see what happens. He absently itches himself and roughs up his hair, checking his hand for bugs after.
