Miriam takes a moment to view the building, seeing if it has any signs visible from here, or any wagon traffic in and out of it at this hour.
After this, and relating what he can based on that, he offers to scout out for any side or rear entrances if they prefer, posing as a common laborer, noting, “I am garbed less conspicuously, I could pass scrutiny perhaps. That is if we want a less obvious entrance. Regardless if possible we will want to confirm all points of exit and have someone posted at each of them, in case the quarry bolts.”
[OOC: Don't forget to roll again for the experience of the failed Perception check.
Also, something that I should have mentioned before is that both Seeker Lomani and Basilly are unusual in that they have nearly always been wearing metal headbands when Midian has seen them; hers is gold, his is silver.

"In those clothes you don't look like a common labourer," says Seeker Lomani, taking off her Seeker's black cloak. "But you do look less conspicuous than I currently do."
She folds the cloak up and stuffs it up under the front of the tunic. She then pulls a rather shapeless hat out from where it is tucked into the back of her belt and puts it on her head, after which she starts pushing as much of her long hair up under it as she can. In the end, she hasn't done much to change her appearance, but in the dark and at a distance she would possibly look like a man, albeit a man with a sword.
"Your turn, Basilly," she says, after completing her transformation. "Show Midian your new trick."
Basilly smiles cheekily and, after extinguishing the light on his stick and tucking it into his belt, starts muttering to himself and moving his hands over his body. As Midian watches on, Basilly appears to shrink and his apprentice uniform begins to change, becoming more like those of a common labourer. His stick has now apparently disappeared.
"Good," says Seeker Lomani, "But remember, your disguise won't fool anyone who can see the arcane, so don't get too close."
Then she turns to Midian and asks, "Have you got any tricks you can show me?"

Midian raises an eyebrow, then smiles slightly. “No tricks to impress the likes of you both, certainly, Seekers. I’ll contribute what I can. If there is an entrance we can approach with some subtlety that is locked I can attempt to unlock it quietly, though you might be able to do so just as easily with a spell. I have little intel on this specific location to offer beyond the knowledge that I was confronted by an aggressive warlock earlier this day. That warlock was slain in the skirmish, but take it as a sign we might expect more trouble of a similar nature within. As to the ingress of this building, I will follow your lead and your methods.”
Midian has his daggers and thieves tools at the ready, and his trained set of skills, but has no intention of trying to put on a show for more experienced seekers to prove competence, as that would likely prove futile.

[OOC: No worries, but no experience either, I'm afraid.]
Midian has heard that, while Seeker Lomani is learned in ritual magic, she only has access to non-ritual magic because she wears that golden headband. He would also know that she was chosen to be Basilly's mentor because he also needs to wear his silver headband to do non-ritual magic. Why this is and why the headbands are made of different metals he does not know.]
Seeker Lomani listens to what Midian has to offer and then says, "We won't be needing those skills tonight. We cannot officially act against Black until after Holy Day because that is when the king's decree comes into effect. My plan is simply to follow him; find out the places he frequents and the people he contacts during this time of unrest."
She then turns to look back in the direction of the building and adds, "Though it would be interesting to know what he is doing here at this time of night in an apparently empty building. I am left wondering if I have somehow been led astray, or have been wrong in my thinking about his attachment to his pipe..."
After a moment's contemplation, she says, "You said you were attacked earlier today. Tell me more of this."

Midian describes the incident in broad strokes, omitting the clash in the alleyway as it muddies the narrative. "A female warlock used offensive magicks against me earlier today when I was in this area in the garb of a clergyman. I resisted the brunt of her spells and confronted her. She pressed the attack, and I defended myself, and slew the woman. I later reported the incident to the local guards, as well as the location of the body." He offers open body language to emote that he is willing to answer more questions, if they have any, nothing guarded about his stance or shameful in his tone, but keeps it brief as if in respect for their time.
Midian describes the attack in more depth, including a description of the insect-related spell used against him, and some of the woman’s words, concluding with, “I closed to knife range and she again attempted to use baleful magic against me, so I ended her. As I noted, given the time and location I thought it prudent to report her death to the guards and allow them to take jurisdiction on the matter, since she was under official church investigation, just an over eager warlock who evidently lashed out in anger over the days proclamation. The guards could do with a bit more deference to us in such matters, but regardless, I agree with your assessment that it’s possible others of her cabal or coven will likely be out for blood.”
OOC: It was several pages back and I am currently on my phone, if there was other evidence beyond Midian assuming based on his religion and arcana training that she was a warlock, or who her patron was, he would share that as well.

The old man visibly relaxes as Seeker Lomani says, "Killrellian? Strange. There are not many of his followers in Engle."
"It is good though, is it not?" says Basilly. "I was worried it might have been an Arion worshipper and that we might have been walking into a trap."
The Seeker turns to Basilly and, perhaps a little abruptly, says, "Your disguised time is running out. Find yourself a place to keep the main entrance under observation. We will look for other ways in. Give the barking call if you see Black and follow if you can."
Basilly nods and heads back in the direction they came moving cautiously in the low light.
"Come, Apprentice Voda," says Seeker Lomani, leading the way down a side street. "Let us see if we can find a back entrance."
Midian follows after Lomani having trouble seeing in the darkness, which it seems is not inconveniencing the Seeker at all. The two make their way through a number of back streets until they reach a corner where they can see the back and side fence of the establishment they want to keep under observation.
"Stay here and watch," says the Seeker. "I will check to see if there are any back ways out and then go around the block and come back to join you. If you hear a dog bark three times twice in a row, move toward the sound. It is a signal of ours."
Adopting a slouched posture, the Seeker then starts shuffling away along the street that the back fence of the property runs along.

We may need to have a pot of Caf brewed, but I suppose this is a day in the life of a Seeker. Harlan never seemed to tax himself like this. I won't speak ill of the man, but, there are others in our order who have perhaps provide a better example of what I would consider our ideals. I am grateful to be taking part in this mission, perhaps we can work together to apprehend Moonson as well." He intends this to be a bit of flattery, the implication that Lomani is more of a role model than Harlan, without overtly disrespecting his mentor.
[OOC: Seeker Lomani said nothing in regard to Midian's comments about Seeker Harlan, but she did mention that her help with regard to finding Simad Moonson would depend on what magick she had left.]
While Seeker Lomani walks the length of the back fence, Midian becomes aware of movement on the roof of the building he is observing. Something small is following the Seeker's progress in fits and starts. Midian can't really tell what it is, but it is about the size of small cat or rat.

Rather, noticing the small form pursuing Seeker Lomani, and having no way to signal her without giving away her position, Midian surveys his options. If he had his bow he could attempt to fire on the animal shape. Absent that he tries to gauge the distance between him and the probably familiar, trying to determine if a knife throw is even reasonable based on the distance. Assuming that is out, he simply tries to shadow the creature shadowing the Seeker as best he can, ready to aid if she comes under surprise attack.
As Midian moves to cross the road he accidentally puts a foot in a pothole, half stumbles and makes a noise. The creature on the roof immediately stops and Midian can only assume that he is now under observation.

Midian tries to make the most of the situation, making a bit of a show to try to keep the familiar's attention on him and away from the approaching seeker, feigning drunkenness as he stumbles again, a calculated move this time, pressing up against a nearby building and urinating, as if lone drunk who had wandered into a remote area of town.
[OOC: Midian gains experience and Deception is definitely the right skill.]
Feigning drunkenness, Midian stumbles and then turns towards the wall as if he were urinating, but he knows this will be a hard thing to do as his private parts are under both his outer disguise and his armour. All he can hope for is that from a distance it will look like he is relieving himself.
Once he has acted the part long enough he turns around: both the street and the rooftop now appear to be deserted.
