Harok is sitting legs slightly spread stretching to one side then the other.
"I've wanted this since I was a kid. In a million fantasies and day dreams it never went like this." He groans quietly as he begins working out a tight spot in his lats.
"I don't think it was natural,"Feldsparsays. "None of this felt natural, really. I understand killing for food or survival. But this... this sport? Bounty? It feels wrong somehow. I didn't expect to feel this way. I'll not be doing... urm, I mean, I've not done a lot of killing." Feldspar's gaze grows a bit wistful when he mistakenly speaks in the future tense. "But as for Midnight, I suspect it was some kind of drow magic. She may not even be dead."
As the party speaks about the mysterious death of their former drow companion their watch passes without incident. The party then rise finding everyone rested and the day of traveling back the Glasswalk back to Vasselheim. Medb doesn't make breakfast this morning but makes sure everyone's got a ration.
"I think if we ride hard we can make it back to the Take not long after nightfall," Medb says packing her horse. "What say all of you," she asks the party curiously as Henwyn flits around the ranger whispering into the horses ear before settling on Medb's shoulder the sprite looking curiously at all of you as well!

Sometimes a Nat 1 tells a better story than a Nat 20 ever could.
"As a boy my father was gone often on business. No idea what that means. Every year he insists we go out. Hunt the woods. Live off the land." Harok pokes the fire with a stick.
"One year I'm big enough to fetch wood and hunt supper. All of 12. And I do." The poking stops.
"I get back to camp and find chaos and blood. This axe was all that was salvageable." He taps the hilt over his shoulder.
"If Tiberiat the dragonborn hadn't taken me in I don't know where I'd be. I applied to The Take to make the world safe for kids and families. We didn't kill that thing for sport or coin. It was for those with no magic or blade skills......the sun will be up soon. Best we feed the horses and get ready. "
(Ooc you posted before me I assume I talked pre dawn.)
As Elijah trance ended he heard Harok's view on what we encountered in the cave and say's: "I agree with Harok. I don't think we slew the creatures for sport or bounty. The creatures we encountered where an abomination of nature that only brought chaos and evil to the world. In my view we did the right thing. If left unchecked, creatures such as those can do great harm to nature."
He looks at Medb and says: "Yes I am ready to go."
Elijah is not sure about Midnight's Deity. Has he heard anything? religion check: 9
OOC: Yes, pigeon, but then Feldspar wouldn't have gotten a long rest.
In character (assuming we did get a long rest): Feldspar's Portent rolls for today are 715.
"I understand what you are both saying,"Feldsparsays to Harok and Elijah. "And I don't disagree. Not intellectually, anyway. But when I touched that chimera's mind, when it was hiding, it was scared. It had never been scared before. And the newness of fear scared it even more. It didn't understand what it was feeling, and was all the more terrified for it. And... I felt that, too."
Feldsparshudders. Wipes a tear from his eye.
"At any rate, we have some magical loot to identify. I can do one now, or we can wait until we get back to Vasselheim and I'll do a ritual. What say you all?"
„I think i know where you are coming from Feldspar, but think about this: If you kill a bee, that bee marks you and suddenly all the bees around you will attack you because they see you as a thread.“
„We are the swarm. Attack innocent workers and the soldiers attack you.“ Milo scratches his had: „you know it was a bad example, if you need to explain it. Let‘s ride.“
Overhearing this continued debate Medb approaches the three from the middle of the group.
OOC: I am just assuming this conversation carried over from the night before.
Harok doesn't notice the Satyr.
"You can't think the beast had any intention of sparing us or anyone on the mountain if it came across them," Medb replies looking to each of the men as she pats the bag of colding. The satchel hangs on her hip safely across her body. "Now we have the beast. It's the purpose now that will help others and not harm them," she adds wisely. "That's good enough for me," she finishes nodding curtly at Harok then smiling at Milo before Henwyn brightens as she nods vigorously too.
Henywyn flits towards Feldspar just inches away from the dwarf. Henwyn then kisses Feldspar on the tip of his nose as Medb chuckles then smiles the first sign of happiness shown by the ranger since the night before when they lost their first party member.
"And you've earned a sprite's approval no less," Medb calls out to Feldspar. "Shall we ride a little faster to the city," she then calls out before urging her horse into a faster pace without waiting for the party to agree.
The party keeps up with Medb who maneuvers her steed horse easily enough through the busy road that with each passing hour ahead of them has more and more travelers on it the closer they get to the city.
With no argument from the party they follow Medb at a heighten pace. Night falls and the party pushes the horses to their limits making it to the city gates nearing midnight. The gates are now closed with a heavier guard presents, archers on the battlements, looking down on the approaching party from above. Again Medb works her magic with the guards and the party enters the city again in the Abundant Terrace. Moving through the city the horses, near exhaust, move slower than footpace. Medb dismounts walking her horse now and advises the party to do the same. It's midnight in the Dawn City but somehow there is somewhat of a boisterous celebration of life around them in the warmer confines of the Wildmother Melora's domain within the city limits. The streets are not bustling with revelers but the party does get an odd look from a drunken denizen or two as they walkthrough. All of you remain bloody from the fight still showing signs of your completion of the task on their clothes as well as their armor. They move through finally making it to the Quadroads where the Take stands. Reaching the stables first Medb and the party hand over their horses (you can add the deposits back to your gold) and sighs loudly as Henwyn flits about excitedly looking the party over as the sprite smiles at them.
"Well, it's been a pleasure," Medb says to the party handing over the satchel to Harok. "I won't take a cut," the ranger says. "I failed too many out there and my cut does to the group. Resupply and buy what you think you might need. I am giving my vote for you to join," she explains somberly with a curt nod. "Good luck eh? Maybe we'll get another contract and work together," she adds bowing out from the party leaving them outside the Take with the task of collecting their bounty from the Cyndrials.
It's late. Well passed time for revelry of your own and not gain points of exhaustion having pushed yourselves so hard to get back to the city. Entering the Take you find the hallways light with torches but the office/lobby area is empty. Murtin and Vanessa nowhere in sight but a petite redhead sits at a desk reading a book with distracted interest. She doesn't look up once the party walks in.

perception: 17
OOC: Retconning that last post. I had Wuldric passive perception written down wrong. Apologies.
As Harok, Feldspar, and Milo sit around the fire they are given an opportunity to reflect on the task thus far.
OOC: I thought I'd give y'all a chance to RP a little. So, y'all three go for it!!

Milo shivers in the cold night air. „What do you think did happen with Midnight? I have never read or witnessed anything like it.“
"Me either but she was the first of her race I've met. Maybe it's natural or something with her faith?"
"I don't think it was natural," Feldspar says. "None of this felt natural, really. I understand killing for food or survival. But this... this sport? Bounty? It feels wrong somehow.
