Xianon - you find a matching door at the bottom of the passage. Pulling it open slightly, you see the back side of a scarlet drape hanging on the wall. You hear the scratching of a quill on parchment and the occasional muttering.
Laying close to the floor and peering under a drape, you can a bed chamber covered with matching drapes. The furnishings include a small writing desk and chair, a comfortable-looking bed, and a wooden chest at the foot of the bed.
Sitting at the desk is a short, dark-bearded male in robes, studying a tome and taking notes. He wears an princely mantle of ermine. A beautiful glass staff leans against the desk, where he can reach it easily.
(Xianon would not need to make another stealth check to return, but anyone else coming down the passage would).
The elf slips back upstairs to report. "I suggest," he says, after laying out the scene, "that the least stealthy of us go around. Don't skulk around; you'll be noticed. We've got red cloaks - strut around like you belong here. The bugbears won't know the difference, and Glasstaff is too busy to be bothered to see more than the red cloak. In fact..." he gets an idea. "Let me and one other slip through the secret way and attack. Once Glasstaff calls for guards, the other two come running. As you run toward his office, you can shout to the bugbears and guards at the cells to stay where they are. They'll assume you're going to take care of the problem. And when you get to his chamber, Glasstaff will think you're on his side, and you can get the jump on him." He looks up at each of you, especially Serwa. "What do you think?"
Serwa frowns, pondering the scenario. "So basically a way to take out Glasstaff, right here and now? We'd still need to deal with the guards to get to those hostages, right? But taking out the leader does have its appeal."
The elf looks up and nods. "And maybe if we take his head, the guards back down. After all, if we four killed their boss, two guards don't stand much chance against us, right? I don't know if it'll work on the bugbears, though." He shrugs. After a moment he adds, "We'll have to take out the mage eventually, anyway."
"Maybe lightning will strike twice, and the vice-commander of the Redbrands will be a total saint compared to the Glasstaff," Serwa says, clearly deadpan joking as she references the prior events with the goblins and goblinoids, and not seriously holding out hope for that happening. "That still leaves the leader's leader out there somewhere, but taking out a spellcaster who could be a lot more dangerous with backup while he's alone and unprepared does make sense to me. I'm in for this plan, Xianon. It's dangerous, and it does have potential consequences for us and the hostages - anything does at this point - so I'd prefer everyone confirm if they're good with this before we set it into motion. Tomora? Aster? Ready to cut the head off of the snake?"
Grimacing, Xianon suggests, "Tomora, you're pretty stealthy in spider form. You could come with me through the secret way. You wouldn't even have to find a red cloak that fits," he adds wryly.
"I like it, if the guards outside buy the ruse, they'll stay in position and let us be the 'reinforcements,' so when Glasstaff calls for backup, he'll get us,"Serwa says. "Good planning and tactics. Of course, the best laid plans always end up with someone dead. Hopefully it's just Glasstaff, this time. Unless Aster has objections, we're doing it."
Serwa, donned in a red cloak, will be part of the team rushing from the opposite way to respond to Glasstaff's cries for help and aid, at which time she will shout to the other guards to "Guard this path and the prisoners, they're trying to create a distraction, you all hold here, we'll protect Glasstaff!"
-The above is timed with the attack of the others from the secret entrance to Glasstaff's study, of course.-
OOC: Hoping if any Intimidation, Persuasion, or Deception checks are needed for this they would be rolled with advantage due to the disguises? Or, ideally, it's just realistic enough that they buy the scenario, and no checks are needed.
"Red is not my color, anyway." Tomora replies with a smirk "As a spider I could probably get into a good position somewhere in the room without him noticing me...let me know if there is somewhere you want me to be."
(So just to make sure I'm clear, the general plan is: 1) Serwa and Aster (I assume) will position themselves near the doors waiting for Glasstaff to call for help, 2) Xianon and Tomora will sneak down the tunnel and surprise Glasstaff, 3) Sewer and Aster will wait for the guards/bugbears to respond and try to convince them to hold position. 4) Serwa and Aster will join the fight with Glasstaff.)
(Yeah, whenever you think its appropriate, go ahead and roll for any skill checks at advantage. If I don't think it should be advantage I can always recalculate using the left most d20 roll. Or I might determine the roll isn't needed and just disregard it.)
(DM Note: I don't really have a preconceived idea how this will all go down. I'll probably use some semi-random rolling to determine how everyone reacts. Should be interesting.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.

The elf set himself and nods. "Let's go, then." He slips back through to the other end of the passage.
Stealth: 12
Once there, he gives the spider a minute or two to get into place, then carefully emerges and attacks. He wraps his right arm around the shaft of the spear and pivots, bringing the spearhead across in an arc to connect with the back of Glasstaff's head. He follows through with a left foot to the same spot.
Spear Attack: 21 Damage: 5
Kick Attack: 10 Damage: 5
The die is cast.
Initiative: 8
(We may want individual initiatives, given the complex way this is unfolding. Just in case.)
Im all good for that plan. But serwa, you might want to leave the talking to me. You tend to be a bit gruff sometimes.
"Gruff might be exactly what we need, passing for these kind. That said, I agree, between the two of us you're definitely the more charming of us," Serwa says. "Although I still say you can't carry a tune when it comes to music. You lead on the bluff - I'll back you up and look gruff."
After a pause, and before they parted ways with Xianon, Serwa would have added, her usual compromise between "leaderly" inspiration and her own innate dour personality: "Don't die. We'll be giving Kelemvor plenty to sort through today. Lord Death doesn't need any more of my friends, not today."
Serwa and Aster - As you reach the bottom of the stairs, you see the three doors as Tomora had described. The door to your left is open, and from it you hear several gruff voices laughing speaking harshly in what you think is a goblin tongue. The door in front of you and to your right are closed.
Xianon - Tomora assumes her spider form and moves head of you, under the drape. When you emerge into the room, Glasstaff looks up in surprise, knocking over his bottle of ink. He instinctively reaches for his staff. However, behind him Tomora is re-materializing and also grabbing for the staff.
(Dexterity contest: Tomora: 13 | Glasstaff: 13) The mage's hand only finds air as Tomroa snatches the staff away.
The mage is able to duck just in time to avoid the spear that would surely have cracked his skull, however your kick does manage to catch him hard in the shoulder.
OOC: If a Deception check is needed for Aster's bluff for them to hold and leave backing up Glasstaff to us, Serwa performs the Help action to give him advantage, being "gruff" and indicating that the adventurers are likely to go for the prisoners during the distraction, but she leaves the primary roll to him - that is, if a roll is needed. I am assuming Tomora gave us the layout of the place so we know the best route to go to close on Glasstaff from the other side.
The monk's eyes twinkle with amusement at Tomora's quick thinking, but he's too focused on pressing the attack to say anything yet. He twists back to the left, bringing the spearhead swinging back around towards Glasstaff's head, following with a right front kick to his midsection.
Spear Attack: 16 Damage: 7
Bonus Attack: 19 Damage: 6
When he finishes his move, he'll be facing Glasstaff with his right arm still wrapped around the spear, its tip down and to the left, his left hand palm-forward in a defensive stance.
(With these rolls, Glasstaff might not have to call for help! Roll well, Charook!)
(I'm going to put these into spoilers in case you guys like role-playing your characters without knowing what is going on elsewhere. There is some potential for meta-gaming, but I'm not at all concerned about that. It's up to you if you want to read whats going on with the others).
Xianon...
The man is quicker than you would have expected, as he barely manages to avoid your assault. However, Tomora's scimitar does graze him, cutting a gash in his fine robe.
The man manages to get his feet under him and seems ready to dodge any future attacks (He's taking the dodge action, so disadvantage on any attacks). He holds up his hands up pleadingly, "Wait!...please, forbear!...there is no need for this...what is it you want?" He looks scared.
Serwa and Aster...
As you stand poised for the call for help, you see a black and white rat wriggle itself from under the door to your right and streak across the hallway through the open door on your left, squeaking madly.
If we know which way leads to Glasstaff's office based on Tomora's description of the layout, Serwa - presumably with Aster - would continue heading there, as if reporting to his office, even if there is not currently a clamor of noise.
(Yeah, Serwa would know the layout as revealed on the map. So, sensing something is up, Serwa heads through the door to the right. I'll probably wait to see what Aster wants to do)

OOC: Sounds good, I am assuming our "combat round" is getting there, so I won't post any attack actions, etc.
