You move on, and go back to the gnome. He looks at you and says before you have a chance to speak "Your best chance at information is the myths' section, specifically on how the races and animals were made. That seemed to point the others in a good direction."
As you turn around to go ask, the man you noticed before is standing in front of you, holding the book out. With a heavy accent he says "I think you are looking for this, yes? Here. I have finished with it." He has a very intense, dark look, with deep set eyes and a weathered face.
You sit down and open the book. Though the title is in a language you don't know, the actual myth is written in Common. As you open the book, a certain page has been earmarked, and a slip of parchment on the page says "We are watching, Chosen. Know the truth."
Moving that to the side, you find a myth titled "The World's Creation." It goes as such:
A long time ago, too far gone to count in years, before the worlds were made, languages spoken, ans suns shone, there was a place where the various celestial's, demons, and all in between gathered. To talk, share, create, fight, and enjoy themselves. The leader of these beings was the Progenitor, who was the most popular among them. Deities, gods and goddesses alike all liked the Progenitor, and often challenged him to games and contests. Through consensus, he was seen as a sort of leader or king among the beings, since he could never be beaten in any contest.
Soon, these contests became boring. The Progenitor always won. So he decided, instead of a contest, he would host a cooperative effort. He formed a barren ball of rock, then challenged each of the deities to create a creature for it. The deity who created the best creature, in the Progenitor's eyes, would be the one most worthy of ruling the other creatures on that rock. All of the deities enjoyed this idea, as it led to a sort of friendly competition not often seen anymore among beings who could do almost anything.
Shilighlah, a gentle goddess, created the birds, and all other winged creatures. "My creations are most worthy because of their freedom. They can go anywhere and very majestic." Alatar, a god of great strength, created the giants. "My creations are most worthy because their great strength means they can brave any harsh conditions their world might have.
One after another, all the deities created their creatures, stating why theirs was best suited to rule the others. The Progenitor looked at all of the creatures, but did not think any were worthy. So then, the god Zerex came to the Progenitor with his creature. It was a horrid beast, one of sharp teeth and razor claws. One that could see in all conditions, and had a blood lust for life. The other deities were disgusted. "What horrible thing is that? Why would that possibly be the most worthy creature?!", they all cried.
"Because, no matter how worthy a creature is to rule, it must die eventually. Nothing can rule forever, for nothing will ever be truly worthy of that power." Zerex replied. This scared the Progenitor, for, to him, it was a veiled threat. A threat the Zerex would overthrow him as the appointed leader. In anger and fear, he cast Zerex out of the place the deities gathered, and forced him into a black pit. One he could not climb out of without the help of another. The Progenitor forbid any other to help him, and refused to acknowledge Zerex in any way.
Millennia passed, and no worthy creature was shown, no matter how interesting or creative the creature, the Progenitor was not happy with it. So, he decided to create his own and crown them the most worthy. The bipedal races. Though the others could not see it, the bipedal races were merely other creatures the other deities had already created, but slightly different. The other deities, however, did not spot this, and immediately crowned the bipedal races most worthy. And so, the creatures populated the world.
But, without Zerex's wisdom, things went wrong. Nothing died. The races and creatures began to suffer. They could not eat, because things could not be killed, but they could not die of starvation. Still afraid of Zerex overthrowing him, the Progenitor forced upon Zerex the role of death and rebirth, forever alienating him from his fellows, to be feared and despised by all the creatures, locked forever in his dark pit in space.
(TA DA! A whole 25 minutes of writing, with no pre-planning of what I was going to write. I had the idea, but didn't have a draft planned out or anythng)
Nemm takes a moment to take in the information before looking down to his mark, in some sympathy. "Well this explains why Zerex is upset I guess." I stand and take the book to gnome so I may borrow it.

(Not sure Nemm has a reason to disturb this man) I move on to find the gmome

I give a look of shock at the comment, before thanking the Gnome and heading to the section
You get to the myth section, and none of the books seem to be about that. There's one space where a book could got that's empty.
I return to the gnome to ask about the missing book.
As you turn around to go ask, the man you noticed before is standing in front of you, holding the book out. With a heavy accent he says "I think you are looking for this, yes? Here. I have finished with it." He has a very intense, dark look, with deep set eyes and a weathered face.
I reach out to take the book "Thanks, uh, are you alright?"
"I am fine. My smile will show when I die." Without another word, he turns and walks away.
Only being shaken a bit by the mans words I turn to find a place to sit and read the book
(this is gonna take a bit to type, hold on)
(NP, Sorry if that seemed painful to try get me to see this book)
