In common: "oh, hello. You must be Ironhide. I am known to most as Kerina"
OOC: She has no other name, she is just trying to sound cool
Okkar Ironeyes speaks for the first time, his voice more tired than gruff. "It's Ironeyes. Okkar Ironeyes. I would hope you're Kerina. That's the name I had put on that bank script I sent out to cover your travel expenses."
He looks to each face, pointing as he names them. "So you must be Ilecerys, the Khoravar (OOC: Half Elf race, in Eberron), Taraven the Tiefling, Galtheon the Elf, and -" The dwarf wavers, pointing back and forth from Ethan to Nanoc "-and one of you is Ethan, one is Nanoc. Sorry, couldn't begin to guess. Not saying all you humans look alike, or anything, but, ahem."
He heads over and helps himself to a glass of the cheap dwarven whisky, and sets down at the table with the fresh carving of the sigil of Olladra, and the scraped out graffiti image. He looks down at the table, as if familiar with it, and then bursts out laughing.
"Oh, I've spent a fair amount of time in this depressing little trading post, and the dark corner it passes off as a saloon," Okkar answers. "Most of the carvings in these tables are over a decade old. Not much new in this desolate region, except for the coffee maker. Here -" he plants his index finger with a thud on the recently chiseled out section "-used to be a drawing of two people fuh, err, going at it. Now that's gone, and you've got this here sigil of Olladra, goddess of luck. Isn't that what the humans call it? 'Getting lucky,' eh?" He looks to the two humans, Evan and Nanoc, for confirmation. "Real funny."
The dwarf collects himself, then says, "I arrived a little later than I said I would. Figured I'd give you all a chance to get acquainted, as you'll be working together soon. Everybody already exchanged names, life stories, curriculum vitae on adventuring experience?"
"Right you are Ironeyes," says Evan, still chuckling a bit himself, though he hadn't made the connection between the carving and luck--he was just laughing because he'd seen hundreds of carvings like that in many a sea-side tavern, but never once been in company delicate enough to call it "fornication" in quiet disapproving tones...He stands and offers a forearm grip handshake, common between warriors, and says, "Looks like we are all here, as you requested. I'm interested in hearing the details." Evan sits back down as the dwarf pours himself a drink and goes back to nursing his own.

"Right, to business," Okkar says. "As you all can see, clan Dronanath isn't exactly overflowing with riches like most of the dwarven great clans of the Mror Holds. Maybe that doesn't have to be the case. I've spent some time searching for a place called Steelhand Hall. It was supposedly in these regions of the Iron Mountains, Dronanath territory. I'm descended from the Steelhand family, myself, and I and others of my blood are outcasts from clan Dronanath, essentially. Reason being, the Steelhand dwarves discovered, and mined The Knuckle, a gold mine, somewhere in these Iron Mountains. Our family lore tells us that Steelhand Hall itself fell to goblins some years ago, other lore says the mine was cursed, maybe both. Anyway, the location of the mine, The Knuckle, and Steelhand Hall, were both unknown. The Knuckle was one of the few successful gold mines in Dronanath territory. I thought if I could locate it, and Steelhand hall, I and my kin might be welcome back into the good graces of the clan, and give Dronanath a win it desperately needs - a gold mine with some resources left in it."
He stares off into the distance for a moment, then adds, "We're outcasts because at the time the Knuckle was active, the household heads of Steelhand weren't getting along too well with clan Dronanath. They were making noise about how they had the only mine worth a damn in the region, talking about splitting off into their own clan, maybe leaving the Mror holds altogether with their wealth. Our family lore tells us that this goblin horde, or this curse, is what took The Knuckle from us, and our family hall. Most dwarves believe the heads of the family just plundered it for all their could, fled the Mror holds, maybe even collapsed the mine on purpose when they left our of pure spite."
Taraven lets out a little giggle at Ironeyes' joke from behind her notebook. "It's curious how a device like ends up in such an old place like this." as she points to the coffee maker. She turns her head away from her notebook to ask Ironeyes, "have you contributed to these lovely carvings?"

"The staff does love their coffee, one of their few indulgences, so they all scraped together and special ordered this fancy number, all the way from Breland," Okkar answers. "And, I might have had occasion to carve into the table, as a younger man. Except for this new one, this sigil here, no one who carved anything here is young anymore. They're all either old, or dead."
"Pleased to meet you Mr. Ironeyes. Yes, I'm Ilecerys," he says putting his mug down. "Settling family drama, putting down goblins, and making some money in the process sounds like a fine adventure."
"You say the location of The Knuckle and Steelhand Hall are unknown. Do you have any sort of clue as to where it could be from your own journey or family lore?"
OOC: Since I am a Sage Researcher, would I have come across any information about goblin curses or about this clan dispute?

Responding to both, Okkar answers, “Thats easy enough. I finally found it. I’ve been kind of a joke around these parts, searching up and down the Iron Mountains for a lost mine. I didn’t find the Hall, but I did find The Knuckle. The mine is real, alright. And so is the curse.”

OOC: You can use the Research feature if you have access to Dwarven records, which can be found within the cities of Dronanath. Your current location is away from the cities, a rural trading post in the mountains. Going to the cities would be a detour, but you can suggest this to the group. You can also roll History, DC12, to recollect any lore you might have retained from your prior studies, in the meantime.
