"I'm not sure what this means... but this name here is written in multiple languages..." Korba says, pointing out the name written in common. He then asks "Shall we disturb the dead? Or see what else lies deeper in this system?"
"We're looking for someone raising the dead, not the peaceful dead, no? If it doesn't look like it's been disturbed recently I say let the dead lie..." Gorm suggests.
Bones joins Gorm in her short rest, sitting and considering Korba's query about opening the sarcophagus and Gorm's response. "Curiosity is a wonderful thing, but perhaps we leave them rest."
Healing from short rest: 5 and Arcane Recovery to return one of my level 1 spell slots.
Olivia sits against one of the walls of the crypt, taking her time to recover.Short Rest: 4 "So what are all of you trying to get out of this whole guild thing? New to working with this sort of organization."
"I've always worked for a guild. Just recently decided to trade on for another as the last one got too..." Gorm kind of trails off, not knowing exactly what she wants to say. "I'll kill a person in a fair fight. Or if I think they're going to start a fair fight. If he bothers me. If there's a woman. Or if I'm getting paid. Mostly only if I'm getting paid, really.. But lately I been thinking that maybe getting paid isn't enough reason to just kill someone. And maybe I should have a say in if they deserve it or not. All in all, I guess my last guild just got to be too much about the killing and not enough about the helping."
"I joined the guild for the simple expediency of paying the bills and funding my magical studies and training," Talinian says. "Also, I agree with Bones and Gorm that we should let the sleeper rest," he pauses, a new thought clearly just occurring to him, "unless it looks like the sleeper has already been disturbed."
Talinian goes over his findings of the sarcophagus again, looking for signs of previous tampering.
ooc: Do I need a new roll or did he notice anything with his 18?
(OOC - pretty sure the sarcophagus looked undisturbed when we investigated it before.)
Bones nods as he listens to his new companions talk about their reasons for joining the guild, "I... uh... simply needed a change. Like Talinian, this seemed an ample opportunity to further my research." He stands up and stretches out, then strokes his beard, "Well I am feeling somewhat better after that rest." Bones looks to the next door in the crypt and points to it, "Cinder led this way originally, so once you are all ready, I am good to proceed."
What I'll say Talinian sees with your check is that there is only the hand prints that you guys put on to the sarcophagus, no one else has touched it in years. Let me know when you want to move on.
Sorry I had my post typed out, thought I clicked post. I have 1 move on, I'll wait for 2 more. Also based on information that you all have do you want to continue all the way to the stairs, if your perception checks do not find anything of interest?
Prior to moving on, Bones puts a hand lightly on Korba's arm that grips his weapon, "I appreciated the defensive move of the darkness, however maybe some warning next time? Even my excellent dark vision was unable to penetrate it." He then moves forward, ready to go.
Bones will make a perception check in the next room (14), and then before they get to the chests in the hallway (6) before the stairs.
The third room you enter is almost the same, just one less door. Again another set of scrip on the tomb with yet another moon elf sounding name on it. You then enter the hall.
This corridor runs 30 feet north-to-south. It is 10 feet wide at its widest point. There are two exits: one to the north and one to the south. Both exits have been propped open with a large chunk of rock.
Against the east wall, there is an 8-foot tall stone tablet with elven runes written upon it. to the left and to the right of the stone table are two 3-foot wide and 2-foot tall wooden chests. the chests do not appear to have any locks on them.
(OOC - which were we entering this hall from again?)
Bones points towards the two chests, "Those are the chests Cinder saw earlier. Maybe we check them for traps though, I don't trust them left unlocked so. I can send Cinder ahead to scout a bit for us again, if you'd care for some forewarning? Otherwise, I'm happy to check the chests myself if no one feels confident."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Very well. I'll check the chests first," Bones bows his head first, aiding himself with Guidance. He then carefully makes his way over to the chests, checking for traps, both as he travels down the hall and on the chests (Investigation: 19 + 1; 14 total).
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Talinian nods and moves to the chests. "I will check them. I believe I have the best chance of finding anything. And my Mage Hand can safely open them from a distance, as they are unlocked."
He checks the chests carefully.
Investigation 7
If he believes them to be safe, he will use the Mage Hand to open them.
(just a thought, but you guys might want to slow down your posts a bit :)
You came in the north door and the south one is the stairs.
I'll say that the suggestion of mage hand would be well recepted. The investigation finds no traps, the mage hand opens the chest, the chest is open and the hand is slowly pulled into the chest, Talinian trys to summon it back to him, but it keeps going into the chest once it fully enters in a flash it disappears.
To not waist a good roll and the ideas of Bones, Cinder makes its way down the stairs.
The door at the bottom of the stairs has been propped open with another chunk of stone. Beyond the door is a huge 25- foot wide square chamber with 20-foot high ceilings. The walls are carved to look the statues of elves who stand upon each others' shoulders to hold the ceiling aloft. Including the door you came through, there are four exits from this chamber. The doors to the north and south are both sealed. Each door is 12- feet high and built into a stone arch. The door directly across from the stairs on which you descended is open, another chunk of stone keeping it in place. At the center of the room stands ten semi-transparent figures that glow with dull, black energy. Their backs are to you as they stare into the passage ahead. One of the apparitions stands in front of the others. The apparition wears an incorporeal cloak made of boar's hide. In its ghostly hand is a glaive.
The north and south chambers are identical.
These chambers are 55-feet wide east-to-west and 15-feet deep north-to-south. Spaced 5-feet apart are 5-stone sarcophagi. Each sarcophagus' lid is clear with a nearly perfectly preserved moon elves body. In the northern wall are five identical alcoves, each with a withered moon elven knight standing in place. A sixth alcove in the western wall holds a shelf with five tiers. Each tier holds a single golden Glaive, each one different than the next. It seems that the only exit is the one in which you came.
This circular chamber is 25 feet in diameter with 10-foot high ceilings. The austere walls are made of hewn stone and the floor is unpaved. At the center of the room is an old, brick well. Kneeling before the well is the Moon elf, Ingon. His arms are raised above his head; both of his wrists have been slashed, the blood dripping into the well before him.
