The surviving brand members grumble, but knowing they won't have any better option, they do. You gather four pistols and the veteran's shotgun, as well as five rapiers. The two novices who'se pistols misfired had placed too large a charge into the chamber, meaning that for one of them, the chamber has cracked and the gun likely won't hold the pressure of another shot, but could instead lead to a spray of sharp lead into the face of the shooter. The second has a working chamber, but the barrel was bent from the pressure, and if you managed to fix it, would likely never fire accurately again. The remaining two pistols had fallen into the muck and gotten wet, ruining six of the rounds inside, but they ar otherwise in good order. Between the four novices, you gather forty-eight rounds of pistol ammunition. As for the shotgun, it seems to be in working order as well, but the veteran only carries six more rounds on him. The rapiers are decent work, and reasonably well kept.

Paren meanwhile gathers all their coins, totalling 23 gold pieces 37 silver and 5 copper pieces. The heavy coats that they are wearing seem to have done little to stop your attacks, but if you wanted to then you'd be able to get two leather armours.

Si'Juul will take all of the firearms and ammo.

"Alright, I already have a couple ideas on how to use these."

(Are they specifically 'pistols', pepperboxes, etc.? Also, for dividing the coin 5ways between us, here's the math: 7sp each with 1sp left over, 4gp with 3gp left over, and obviously 1cp each. Plus, shotgun isn't listed on here it seems, so did you make a homebrew sheet for its stats?)

"Well, we have learned a few things. There is quite the price on my head, the Black Brand is after all the gold and silver in a mine, and there is an invasion of Drow Elves to the south. Unless we collectively decide to join the forces engaging them, we may want to avoid going too far south."

Poinki thanks Elhanna for the healing.  He feels much better now.

"Drow good to fight," Poinki says. "But we look for somewhere safe to rest, next, maybe? Fight was tough."

Paren looks at the others before beginning to pick some large leaves and wrap the bruises that always develop on his hands after a fight. "As an elf I'm always partial to giving some drow a good thumping but I understand that we have other things we're dealing with. It might be a good idea to go to the mine though. We could make sure that the Black Brand don't get any money from it. Hit them in a place that hurts."

"Given their numbers, if they have taken over a mine, odds are they have already collected and sold some already. Probably bought the services of those grunts who were working with that veteran who tried for my head. Right now I want to get to Arkos so I can hopefully find a place to work on my guns."

“I agree with Si’Juul that we should head for Arkos. I would like to find a church and send words home.” “And I would like to clear up this demon business.”

"Demon sounds like it going to take long time to fix," says Poinki. "Very big, very many corrupted. Must be strong. Maybe get stronger fighting more simple fight for now."

"So, I believe we are agreed, we will get some rest and supplies in Arkos. Maybe do a little side work in town, if there is any. I can repair and work on my firearms, as well as purchase a few things I think I need. But I think we should also start gathering allies, ones with talents and/or authority we lack. Collect some favors from influential people if we can. Not to mention...."

Si'Juul's expression shifts to an apologetic one.

"...Now that they've seen your faces and know you're with me, they might come after you just out of spite. I never wanted you to get caught up in my battles.........the Black Brand has changed so much from my memories...."

Paren taps the mask again. "Technically they haven't seen my face. All they know is one of the Order is working against them. I suppose they could take on the whole Order but that would probably be a war they don't want."

"As for allies, I could reach out to Elixisys. He might have some contacts or know of someone already working on the Abraxas problem. Supposedly the Alliance Secret Service is there to thwart interplanar threats, which I think a demon lord counts as."

"Only saw Bubba Barrelgut's face," says Poinki, removing the Hat of Disguise. "Maybe Poinki just be Poinki, and someone else hide face?" He holds out the hat to anyone who feels they need it. "Poinki not afraid. Good friends better protection than disguise any day."

"So then we leave the demons to them. Demons are out of our league, no doubt."

Si'Juul just stares off into space for a moment thinking what a demon might actually look like.

"Hmm...an order of some sort, and a secret service...you really get around, Paren. Just how many organizations are you a part of?", Si'Juul asks with a tone of curiosity, rather than one of accusation.

Paren looks around a bit and then back to the others. "That may take some explaining. Let's discuss it in town though. The forest has too many ears."

"True. And I really want to get away from this wetlands we seem to be in."

(At this point, unless there's an interruption and/or someone wants to do something first, should we just skip to Arkos?)

Looking at Paren “The forest does? I thought it was the other way around?” She start to look around to see if she sees anyone. (Perception: 10) “Anyway you maybe right about the demon.. but I still don’t like it..”

Poinki picks up his pack, and heads toward Arkos. Since nobody has taken him up on his offer, he puts the hat back on, and starts thinking about a new halfling persona to replace Bubba Barrelgut.

Si'Juul follows behind Poinki.

Various plans and ideas crossing his mind, thinking about the possibilities.

"A disguise won't do me much good, Poinki. Unless I just stop using my firearms, the Black Brand will eventually find me again. And with the large reward for my death, we will likely fight them again. Any of you can walk away if you don't want to be looking over your shoulder all the time. I wouldn't blame you."

Paren flips up his mask and gives a laugh. "Leave? It's just getting interesting. This is the most fun I've had in the last 50 years. And as for the ears, yes, people can see through animals, or plants. There are connections everywhere." 

"Well luckily Arkos isn't too far now. We can gather supplies and information. And during the night we can discuss what we have learned, among other things. Hopefully we find no more interruptions the remainder of the way."
