The man's face turns a deep crimson from a mixture of anger and shame: "The keys and seals... he asked for the keys and seals to the city's stores. The church has been feeding the hungry from the supplies we had stored for winter. I thought they were right to hep the needy, but I now realise that them not telling the rest of the city that this was a necessary step paints the whole thing in a different light..." He turns to look at you all: "I want to help. I want to do good. Please, take me along and give the priest a chance to explain. I just can't believe that what you're saying is the truth."

Si'Juul plants a hand on the man's shoulder.

"We'll let the man speak his piece and go from there."

Si'Juul very obviously hesitates before continuing.

"And uh.....I wasn't really going to kill you. I've just been having a hard couple of weeks. We all have, really."

The man thanks Si'Juul, seemingly having calmed down some. He is quite cooperative now, and follows you along on your way to the watch garrison near the city gates.

Please, everyone give me a perception check.

As you approach the gates, you see several of the brightly clothed mercenaries nailing a wanted poster to the inside of the gates. SI'Juul, you can make out that the poster depicts an Aaracokra, much like yourself. Elhanna, you notice almost simultaneously one of the Brand company you faced in the forest talking with the guards.

Paren, you notice that your prisoner gets awfully twitchy at the sight of the guards.

They don't seem to have noticed you yet.

Elhanna turns around and push Si’Juul to the wall. “There are black brands ahead. They are posting wanted posters of you on the wall and those guys we met in the forest are back.. what are we going to do?“ 

Paren immediately grabs the elbow of the prisoner. "I would thank that we don't want to be here, my friends. Or at least not all of us."

"I was wondering when they would resort to trying that. Wonder what I have been accused of. So, how do we do this? In their face, my style, or more subtley, Paren's style?"

"Maybe you should use hat?" Poinki says. "Maybe goblin okay here, if with friends. Lots of different peoples here. Getting hard to remember to talk like halfling or gnome, or remember what name using."

"Hmm, I might, depending on how we do things. But if they're putting up a poster of me, they already know that I'm here. Plus these guys know your faces, since we fought them on the road leading here. I say we just walk right up to them, or I can while you all hide. The mayor wants us to get rid of them, he just couldn't say it for political reasons. Didn't you catch his odd manor of speaking regarding 'using our weapons'?"

Si'Juul peeks around the corner.

"I wonder if the guy I marked is here with them."

SI'Juul, paying attention to the group, you notice that the leader of the band is not present.

(So there are quite a few Brand members there in total?)

All the ones you left alive, bar their former leader, as far as you can tell.

(So just the other three, then)

"I am tempted to just stroll on up there and rip that poster off right in front of them, just to see how they react. It's just the three of them, so myself and one other could take them, should they be brave enough to try anything after failing so miserably before. Could even get some more info out of them."

Si'Juul grins.

"But at the same time, we got this guy here and we're definitely not leaving him here with them."

"It's also not just those three. We're in a city full of their fellow Brand members and their allies. That seems like a pretty good way to end up shot full of holes or burned at a stake. Neither of which are things I particularly want to happen." Paren says as he steps a bit in front of Si'Juul, just incase his larger friend decides to follow through with his bad idea.

"Yes, but these three are alone. And I never said anything about starting a fight myself."

Si'Juul gently nudges Paren out of the way so he can keep his sights on them from behind the wall.

"Well how about this? I wait till they leave and snag that poster and in the meantime, you can take our temporary companion to the church for that talk with the archbishop. I wouldn't be much use there anyway. Or one of you put on that magic disguise and go for the poster for me then we can all head to the archbishop together. But I want that poster."

Paren quite firmly stands his ground. "Walking over to three people putting up your wanted poster will only start a fight, there's no other option. Slow down and think, just for a minute. We're in hostile territory here, we need to be strategic about how we act, or else we're going to wind up in irons or executed. The law here isn't our friend, if a fight breaks out they won't care who started it, they'll only care that you're the criminal they want. Think big picture."

Seeing Si’Juuls growing agitation towards the brandmembers she cast calm emotions on him and the clerk. 

“calm down Si’Juul, what paren say is correct. We need to lay low for now and come up with a save way to handle this.”
