"Maybe........I'll go with whatever you two decide......"

Si'Juul keeps watch on the creature in case of any sign of it coming closer.

Hearing the captian's orders, Twitch clambers back onto the deck, fuelled by anger. Her face is the Colour of a beetroot, as she slowly steps up to the captain, puffs out her chest, and startsto scream at the man several heads taller: "There's one thing being cheap! But there's a code for people sailing these seas. Ain't no one out her can help them but us, and dammit if we won't do exactly that! Damn the company and your profits, those are sailors in need. Either help us out, or I'll have to tie you to the mast!" The two daggers in Twitch's hands don't move an inch, even though she seems to be shaking from anger and emotion.

Si'Juul just smirks, and if the captain looks over at him he will get an "I told you so" kind of look from Si'Juul. Thinking to himself,

'Gonna love hearing the captain try to justify himself being a coward.....'

Paren looks back. "Remember what I said Captain? Seems like it's coming true for ya." 

The captain looks at Twitch, Paren and Si'Juul, and also sees that Trillia and Slithizz, who seem ready to back you up, and sighs. "Very well, take us to port.  And don't get too close to that thing."

The navigator turns the wheel and the Mobius heads for the ship under attack. As you approach, you see something out of a nightmare, a creature you have never seen or heard of before.  It seems to be mostly a shapeless, slug-like blob, and it's pseudopods are wrapped around most of the ship.  You can see the panicked crew beating on it with cutlasses and clubs, but they seem to be making little impression.  The monster simply oozes away from the attacks.  Meanwhile, you hear the constant, grinding noise of teeth gnawing on wood.

Captain Haba orders the crew to stand ready to take flight at a moment's notice. If the creature seems ready to change its target, he says, they are to escape at once.

Turning to you, he says sarcastically, "Well, we are here as you wished. What do you propose to do about THAT thing?"

"If nothing else, we will bring the crew onto this ship.....(Si'Juul glares at the captain).....and not another word from you...... you're done talking now....."

Si'Juul flies over to the other ship, hovering about 10ft over them.

"Hey! Don't worry, I am not an enemy! How many of you are left?! And would you all prefer to abandon ship?!"

The halfling captain looks up and yells, "Help us!  Please! Do you have anything to fight this giant slug with? Magic? Or some big weapons? Or anything?"

Paren turns to the Captain. "Any chance you have some defensive weapons on this ship we could use to help. If we buy the other crew time we might be able to save lives." 

The mention of slugs gives Twitch an idea: "My grandpa used to salt slugs to prevent them from eating his cabbages. Quickly, get the some of the rock salt from the stores. We can try to fling some casks at the creature using the ballista, maybe it'll damage its exposed limbs!"

OOC: Do I need to roll anything to know whether this crazy idea could work?

"I can carry some people one at a time to our ship, if necessary...... otherwise yeah, we got some ballistae to use.....may want to step back from this thing......"

Si'Juul doesn't even bother grabbing his pepperbox out, thinking if all these other weapons did so little, his won't be much better.

"Sounds like a plan," says Trillia. She starts issuing orders, and soon the ballista is armed, sacks of salt strapped around the head of the bolt. Stepping back from the ballista, she says, "Would you care to do the honors?" (The ship has three ballistas, two small ones aft, and a large one in the bow. You are at the large one, which takes a crew of three to operate: you may fire using either strength or dex, the bolt does 3d10 damage, and add another 3d10 salt damage.)

Looking around, Twitch shouts up to Si'Juul: "Hey, bird man! How good is your aim with one of these? get to the starboard one, and cover us once we reload". She then focuses, leveling the bolt at the height of the other ship's railing, expecting the extra weight at the front of the bolt to reduce the range and require more of an arced shot.

16 to hit, for 28 piercing, and 12 salt damage.

In an impressively hard hit, Twitch skewers the giant slug.  It doesn't react at first, but then as the salt starts to burn into it, it releases the ship, which capsizes, dumping the crew into the water!  The slug disappears beneath the waves.

"No can do! Gotta get these folks outta the water!" 

Si'Juul starts carrying people to the mobius as fast as he can without wearing himself out too quickly.

When he brings the first person aboard, he shouts to the Mobius's crew,

"If this thing's got lifeboats, get 'em ready!

Paren runs to the rail and begins preparing a line to throw to anyone who needs it. He also keeps a close eye out for anyone who looks like they'll need more help than that. 

Perception: 12

When Si'Juul flies to get the second person, he shouts to them,

"Start swimming to our ship!"

Twitch, herself surprised by the effect of her idea, immediately startsloading a second bolt, but looks around to the other crew members: "I need a grappling hook, and an old rope ladder, or as much rope as you can gather! We can shoot that across the other ship like a harpoon, creating a lifeline for the crew in the water to hold on to, if they can't swim."

Perception to find the items in question: 15 otherwise Twitch is loading the crossbow trusting that the crew understands her intention and can find the needed items

With the captain's nod of assent, the first mate shouts some orders, and sends some of the crew members scrambling to find the items Twitch wants, and to put the lifeboats in the water, and toss rope ladders over the side.

Most of the other ship's crew start swimming to the Mobius.  There are a few just floundering in the sea for Si'Juul to pluck out of the water.

As the shipwrecked sailors swim closer, you see six sharks beginning to close in on them...
