With his supplies stored away, Si'Juul notices Paren staring, in between looking over his reward from the captain.

"Something wrong?"

Paren gives a small shrug. "Just trying to get a read on you my feathered friend."

Si'Juul smiles.

"In this line of work, it's necessary to be hard to read. If that unnerves you, it would be understandable if you chose to avoid me. But then, once we land our paths are likely to split.

Paren nods. "We will have to see. If I'm right about your line of work I might have need of someone like you where I'm going." 

"I'm a merc......plain and simple......after we land we can discuss future work together......looking forward to actually feeling the ground again......"

Twitch thanks the captain for her gift, but she asks if he might have a couple pinches of the black powder to spare, since she's interested in the propellant and would like to study it when given the chance.

Joining in the conversation, Twitch blushes slightly at Elhanna's comments. "Honestly, I don't have a particular destination in mind, but as long as I'm with other people ready to help others without a second thought, I'm happy to tag along on the journey.

“How about we speak with captain Pennywhistle? Maybe we can help rebuild his ship in exchange for passage to the main land?” 

"Not a bad idea........captain doesn't owe us but we gained good graces at least......wouldn't mind seeing if the island happened to have any materials I can use for a......personal project....or at least some parchment so I can draw them out....."

Paren scratches his head a bit. "I would prefer to get going a little bit faster than you all but I suppose some things can't be helped. A good ground around me would probably be helpful where I'm going."

"Can't be on the sea forever......just as I can't be in the skies forever.....much as I'd like to be......"

(Captain Pennywhistle gladly spares Twitch a small dose of black powder, warning you that it is dangerous and highly flammable.)

As the sun begins to set into the west, a huge rum and raisin cake is served out to the crew and passengers, who devour it with enthusiasm.  Dottle the cook asks Si'Juul to fly a second one over to the Green Dolphin...and a small, heart-shaped one for the captain himself. The sky begins to darken, and the sailors sing up in the rigging.  You can hear the chanty echoed from the sailors aboard the Green Dolphin.  They start lighting the lanterns on both ships.  Far ahead of the ship, you see what looks like a low-hanging star.

"The Coral Island lighthouse," says First Mate Trillia. "Even with the Dolphin in tow, if this wind keeps up and nothing untoward happens, we should reach the island some time tomorrow."

Si'Juul nods to Dottle and promptly flies the dolphin's crew and captain their respective meals, arriving back just as the news of our arrival is given to the group.

At some point in a break between conversations, he thinks to himself,

'Captain had more powder for Twitch? Hmm..... shouldn't have anything to worry about......but is the captain hiding more from me....?'

((He gave you one four-pound bag out of a case. There was more black powder, though no actual firearms. Sorry if I was not clear.))

Twitch approaches Si'Juul. She had to admit that she had misjudged the feathered warrior, and she perked up when he spoke of a personal project. She was fascinated by the black powder he used in his weapon, and though the effects of it were frightful, she had a couple of ideas of what she could use the powder for. For that though, she needed to understand it better.

"So tell me, bird man" said with affection and a wink, "where does that weapon of yours come from, and what do you need for your powder? I can discern sulphur and charcoal, but there must be more to it I'm sure. I'm curious whether I can help you make some of this stuff on our trek, all I ask is that I can keep a few ounces for myself, in case we ever need to get out of a tight spot."

Si'Juul narrowed his eyes.

"Why the sudden interest? Besides, the captain gave you your own stock of blackpowder, right? You have seen how dangerous these things are. As for where it came from, I crafted it myself."

He hoped he didn't sound rude, yet he couldn't just give away the materials or the knowledge on how to use them so freely.

Thinking to himself,

'Well, it was bound to happen.....can hardly blame her for being fascinated by such power.....'

"I... I'm sorry, I should have known  better. I'm excited by the possibilities is all. But I get it if you need to get to know me better first." Twitch tried to hide her disappointment. She was naturally curious, and a powder of such utility was too good to pass up.

"I don't blame you......you're not the first......there are ways to use blackpowder that could sink this ship in seconds......you can understand why I can't just give away such knowledge......so far you seem like a good person......but you didn't even call me by my name......I did give you all my name after we finished in the cargo hold......"

"I'm sorry, Si'Juul, I meant it affectionately, but I'm sorry to have reduced you to your exterior features… You're so much more than just that, and you're right to call me out on it. And I understand."
