the ray streaks into the hobgoblin, it burns a hole through the middle of it killing it instantly

Elias' turn

 Elias becomes frightened at the worg suddenly mauling him, and he runs [35ft] away from it. He begins to focus and chants a quick incantation, before begins shouting for his companions near worg 2 to stay in place.

As he finishes the spell, the ground shimmers for a moment before appearing completely normal, despite now being covered in sharp spikes.
