Describe your character, including race & class (with archetype/specialty)
Althea, a wizard of the school of bladesinging, comes from a noble background, but in reality her family is nobility without lands. They lost their ancestral holdings during The Retreat in the Year of Moonfall, 1344 DR and now they just hold onto the memories in the scattered areas they have settled in, still affecting airs but with no real authority in the world at large. Althaea was originally learning martial training due her station’s responsibility to lead soldiers in the common defense but when her magic talents were discovered she was trained in the noble elven art of blade singing with the intent on her using her magic and swordsmanship to bolster whatever unit she was a part of. She will fulfill these duties as is expected of her, but really she wants to expand her magical knowledge while someday gaining political power; perhaps finally clearing out the Cragmaw goblins and taking over the nearby castle or a return of her family’s true status.
Character background and experience - how they got to 4th level
Althea came to the area around Phandalin in order to hone her craft, hearing of the goblin tribes and other unusual activities around town. She has since joined others in rescuing captives, guarding caravans, traveling between towns on dangerous routes, and clearing bandit hideouts in order to improve her skills.

I have played D&D for years. I have done PbP before and right now I’m looking for a group that will post more than every few days. I have done a few of the starter adventures in LMOP and Dragon of Icespire Peak, been haven’t been with a group that made it all the way through so there’s still a lot I haven’t done. You should pick me because I love to rp, not just combat and my character has a stake in helping the land in order to advance her standing. Maybe even joining a faction that would help.
Describe your character, including race & class (with archetype/specialty)
Ridon Wildheart, a halfling ranger with an affinity for Beasts. So much so he's taken a Puma, Dune, as his loyal companion.
Character background and experience - how they got to 4th level
Although Ridon had spent his early adventuring life with a few different groups, his most recent group had had success in ridding a city of a nearby blue dragon hatchling. He had lost friends on that adventure. So so much he could not bare to travel with the remaining members as too many memories troubled him. He preferred the company of Dune anyway. He currently is at the Stonehill Inn, biding his time, watching for the next adventure to walk through the door.

I try to roll characters for flavour not optimisation. I find a well played character can be as good if not better than a maxed out buff warlord. I'm in Australia so my posting times might seem a bit weird to most other players but I will post daily and even more on weekends. I started playing d&d again after a long hiatus and exclusively here on d&d beyond. I'm familiar with the toolset but still learning the difference between 5e and 3.5. As to why me over someone else? I think , with the calibre of applications so far, that no matter what reason there would be an equally impressive one to take another player. I don't envy your decision.
OK folks - applications are closed. Thanks for the awesome entries - not an easy task to select only two! I am consulting with the current group and we will be contacting the prospective new additions soon.
I will post final selections to the site tomorrow for reference!
Thanks all! It was a really tough, but fun, challenge to only pick two of you for our replacements! We first narrowed down to our top five, then the top three. The current group conferred and agreed on the selections.
So we'd like to welcome Sev the warforged artificer, and Perkas Brightmoon the halfling ranger, to the newly established Phandalin Adventurer's Guild! Himoko the human samurai/monk was a close third and our first alternative if either of the first two bow out.
Happy adventuring to you all!
