(Only one-way communication will be possible with Awakened Mind. While it is typically two-way RAW, this is a home-ruling as to not undermine a certain Dragonmarked house. I think the way you are showing this Awakened Mind is fine, though I would probably always announce you are using it if you haven't used it in a while so everyone knows what you are doing.)
Zomith, Klobs, and Linan are with Dahme'dre, all dismount if they were mounted. Zomith looks around and offers Dahme'dre, "I can take point and watch your backs. I am quite sure Klobs will join me." She seems to take amusement from her last statement as Klobs rolls his eyes and crosses his arms.

As Dahme'dre speaks to the group, Aurelia looks on in puzzlement. Everyone seems to be hearing a voice of some kind. Aurelia looks on in curiosity, wondering what is going on, when all of a sudden, her mind is flooded with unspeakable terror and pain. An unearthly chant fills her mind, starting almost imperceptibly low, and growing louder, louder, and louder.

Slade peeks over the window in frustration. How can they all be so slow? We need to move!
At that moment the voices in his head and Aurelia's howling fit begin at once. Slade glances over at Aurelia in bewilderment completely at a loss on what to do, and then back to the kobolds to see their reaction.
What is happening? Telepathic voices? What in the nine hells is wrong with Aurelia? Could the timing be worse? That child needs help and the jig is up...I'll figure the rest of this out later.
At that, Slade springs through the window blade drawn. He glares at the kobolds with murderous intent, "I have no idea what's going on but leave the kid alone, and you might yet draw breath tomorrow."

As Slade jumps through the window, he sees another kobold that was obscured from his view standing in a corner as well as a blue drake. The kobold, who was holding the child by the arm at this point, suddenly let's go in terror.
The child runs up to Slade as the other kobold fails to grab him. At this point, Slade notices a man to his left hiding under the stairs.

Slade's first attack cuts down the kobold quite easily. His punch on the second kobold strikes true, hitting the kobold square in the chest. It coughs and recoils but still stands.

She points and, with a crack, releases a bolt at the enemy. She steps across the doorway and peers up the stairs ready to alert her friends to the approach of any fools who may join the fray from there.

Aurelia writhes in pain as her ears begin to bleed. She starts to shriek, an unholy wail. She sees the end. The end of everything.
