As it does: Grahl, Marchosias, and Onyx leap backward into the respective safety of the access tunnel and stairway. Chazrael too manages to leap backward but in the direction of a particularly large cloud of gas on the right side of the stairs, dropping him to his knees and then forearms violently coughing and finally vomiting (take 3 damage).
Arbon had his back turned slightly when the creature exploded. The force sent his face crashing into the doorway crunching the soft cartilage of his nose, blood gushing forth before spinning round and inhaling the putrid stench directly from its source. He shoved the smoldering crater of a chest cavity out of the doorway and gasped for air before dropping to violently retch and cough. Now bleeding profusely, with a foul odor burning his throat and lungs, Arbon is on his knees holding his face. (take 11 damage)
Arbon stands after a moment, spitting out any bile still stuck in his mouth. Looking around to make sure everyone else is ok, and seeing that everyone is mostly ok, he puts a hand to his chest and casts Cure Wounds (healing 5). Once recovered, he stops and looks around intently, "Where is our guide? Has anyone seen where he went?"
"What? He's gone?!" asked Onyx, a little alarmed. He looked around quickly for the guide, then with a sinking feeling in his stomach, pointed his torch toward the bottom of the stairs to check there as well.
At the first sign of the gas Grahl moves quickly to avoid it, not wanting a repeat of the foul fumes in his lungs again.
When the blast has gone and the fumes dropped a bit he steps back in the room to see the others recovering. Grahl will poke the creature with his axe to see if, whatever it was, is dead.
Coward creature, blow up instead of fighting. Bah..He spits on it to add to his insult. The moist of the spit sizzling on the still smoldering remains.
Noticing the others mention the hunter. No need hunter.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Well, this is true. The hunter is not entirely necessary for our travels, though his guidance through this maze would have been most appreciated," Arbon replies to Grahl. "But nonetheless, we must push on," he recasts light on his mace and looks around, "Where to friends?"
"C'mon, old chap," said Onyx in a not-so-serious tone as he knelt and looked the hunter over, knowing full well he had zero medical knowledge.

"You're not a horse, so we're not allowed to put you down; you'll have to make it out of here on your own." He smiled weakly at the joke, then glanced at the others, hoping that one of them could heal the man.
Arbon comes down the stairs to find the hunter on the ground. He checks him over (medicine: 20), then turns to the others, "I am almost spent with my magics. I can heal our guide here, but then I will need a longer rest."
Onyx nodded. "Let's do it. Once he's healed, hopefully we can find someplace close to hole up for several hours." He looked down at the hunter's bone sticking out of his arm. "It's either that, or drag his dead weight around just to use him as bait."The warlock decided he'd better stop with the jokes... he seemed to be getting less amusing with each one.
Marchosias watches the group tend to the hunter dispassionately. He was a liability now, but Marchosias was outnumbered. He would have to accept the poor choices of the greater whole.

Another medical problem. Indefinite hiatus. Sorry, all.
The hunters bruises and scraps heal, but the arm is shot. Folded over with some scrap fabric, he clings to consciousness and then reenters wakefulness as its strung up and he gets to his feet.
"OK. The gas is gone, and the zombies are dead. Let's just go to storage, make sure its empty, and leave--"
He no longer is able to just rush passed without waiting. His voice has confidence as before, but he knows Onyx is right, the Hunter had become a liability. The moment his knowledge of the mine, which was not unlimited to begin with, ran out, he was done for.

Grahl will move down the stairs, the way they were going before.
Follow stairs to mine shaft. Maybe find hunter.
He does not turn around but turns his head sideways to see if anyone is moving with him, then continue to walk down.
Onyx, Chazrael and Arbon see scattered bloodshot down the rusted iron railings and walls going down.
As Grahl walks down the stairs, the hunters broken form lays on the floor. The poor man's alive, but God is he in pain.
He groans lowly, and lays there abit.

There is a heavy moment of consideration,
"...no immediate need of going there."
"Let's get you to safety, hunter," Arbon looks to the group, "Perhaps we get him to the storage room, take a decent rest, then delve deeper?"
