Higgul When Honor gets back from the Mithril's island, she finds Higgul out on the cloud-land in front of the keep, working on his fighting drills.
Morgan "Seems like the goody-two-shoes are starting to get some heavy hitters." Morgan tells Leto as the Mithril dragon comes to join you up on the cloud castle. Morgan runs a hand through his short black hair, his gray eyes serious as they look to Leto. "Going to be hard to do things they don't agree with if things keep going this way..."
Palvin Palvin lands, changing into his human form and moves over to Naivara. "Something has been bothering you since we rescued the people down there. "What's up?" His steel-gray eyes are intent on Naivara as he awaits for an answer. ymephis "did something happen down there?" ymephis asks with a glare for Palvin as she strides over. she grips her scimitar, her emerald eyes blazing with anger as she looks around for a threat. "I knew I should have gone with..."
Chysen Chysen lands and stands to one side as the Mithril shifts form into her bird-woman form, hovering as best she can above the cloud-land of the castle. Chysen waves to the castle with a hand. "It is not a lair, but it serves us as transport." he informs her.
emmy, After shaking herself of the water from the storm, Emmy moves over to watch Higgul as he moves through swordforms. She seems interested in what he is doing, at least for the moment.
Tiondidirth Looking to Leareth, the Chromium dragon sneers at the variety of lesser folk on the castle. "Is this what we are fallen to?" She asks with a dismissive flash in her silvery eyes.
Oddroin "You are free to leave whenever you want." The Black dragon informs the Chromium with a smile that does not reach his eyes. 'If we are too much beneath you, then maybe it is you that are out of place here..."
fesyss Moving to Yuno, the gray dragon seemed pleased with things. "It is amazing that so many different dragons are willing to work with you." He tells Yuno. "This has to have the opportunity for some very interesting options down the road."
Torreneg "As long as no one gets in my way when it comes killing time." The orange says, giving the gray a sneer. "If they do then I'll murder them too."
Sharot In her bird-woman form, she circles above the castle, content to fly above it as it moves onward. She seems to like her solitude for the moment. She does acknowledge Chysen's welcome to the castle though. "It is better than a land-based construction." She informs Chysen. "I could actually feel a bit more at home here, than on the ground. I might have to see if I can get one of these once all of this is over and done with."
Undoth The Amethyst dragon seems content to stay in the background and observe. She seems to be taking notes on some parchment as she does so.
Etheim The Amber dragon stalks the edges of the cloud land outside the castle. he seems ill-content to be on the flying castle and not in his forest home.
Kierro follows up on Chysen’s introduction to Sharot. “It is indeed a respectable castle. I could ask Piazet where he got this one from.”
“By the way, Sharot, there’s a cloud dragon by the name of Iveodaeth accompanying us as well, in one of the cloud formations nearby. She tends to prefer solitude, and I believe she would appreciate it if she had some space.”
As he gets settled back in, he notices the more-crowded-than-usual air. He notices the Sun Elf.
“Leareth.” He gives a respectful nod. “What a surprise to see you here. How have you found the world we are now in thus far?”
Leareth returned the nod with a smile. "Greetings, Kierro. This world is full of opportunities, which is exciting, though I would just as soon have stayed in our world. What have you all been up to, besides gathering shards of yourselves? Have you made any progress in finding out who did this to us?" He raised an eyebrow for emphasis. "After all, what good does it do us to recover our memories and power, if they just pull the same trick again? By the time we're ready, we should know who they are and where they are, and work together to ensure our continuing safety going forward."
"Power comes from more than simply strength."Leto replies. "We will find our influence and information once we get to the city. And what they don't know, they cannot deal with."
Leareth returned the nod with a smile. "Greetings, Kierro. This world is full of opportunities, which is exciting, though I would just as soon have stayed in our world. By the time we're ready, we should know who they are and where they are, and work together to ensure our continuing safety going forward."
“Gaining the shards, and the memories that come with them. Just now we-“ he gestures to himself, Naivara, and Honor. “-returned from an effort to save a crew of a ship stranded in the middle of the storm sent to stop us. I assume you arrived after we left for that.”
”The one who banished us here was likely that wizened figure in Elminster’s vision. However, he only intervened when our infighting caused the very world to break, and his power was able to keep it from destruction and restore it from the battle afterward. I’m personally very thankful he intervened when he did.” He points out. “We’ve been able to keep a semblance of peace between us, and if that can hold - if we avoid coming to blows with each other - the danger of him banishing us once more is likely minimal.”
Not wanting to have the rest of this conversation while everyone is milling about with the new arrivals, Naivara heads to her room with Palvin, yemphis, and Grivryn
“Well, I agree working together is the best path forward. And I think we should limit our impact on the people below so we don’t attract unnecessary attention..
Now- what is the plan for getting to the next shards? I have a map here of the southern lands- this desert kingdom which is where I sense, and I suspect you also, feel we need to go. Leareth and I were trying to plane shift there but we wound up here- perhaps this goddess of magic you mentioned wanted us all together.. This castle accommodation is nice, but lacks a little… speed, unfortunately, and also it really needs a garden or a forest or something to be more …homey. In any case, I am here to help us achieve our goals- and not get tossed out of this world like the last one.” She smiles a warm smile. She has removed her helmet to let her red hair blow in the breeze, and she gracefully dismounted her Amethyst dragon as she landed on the cloud castle.
“I believe it will be best for us to leave the castle once we reach land, and travel south from there.” Kierro nods. He returns Maril’s smile, but the expression fades a bit as he processes what was said.
”Could you… define ‘limit our impact?’ There’s undoubtedly merit to staying out of places where, say, the presence of all the dragons alone would cause a scene, but what of people who might need help? Especially people caught in the cross-fire of the gods trying to stop us, like the ship’s crew that you met.” He gestures down to the island, and to the crew, now safe.
“Well, I think rescuing these people who were impacted by your travels does seem wise. I think if they died their gods might have blamed us for it. I don’t have any concerns with that. I think if we can try to prevent the gods from hurting others in a quest to slow us, or whatever this is- it would be good. “. She gestures to the stormy skies around, in a bit of an annoyed manner. “I’m not sure how god-like powers like us accompanied by a small army of typically un-aligned dragons will not cause a stir on the ground -at least up here, we can pass for an odd cloud for those below if they are wise enough to not check us out. But I’m new- happy to hear your plans and help however I can.”
I’m personally very thankful he intervened when he did.” He points out. “We’ve been able to keep a semblance of peace between us, and if that can hold - if we avoid coming to blows with each other - the danger of him banishing us once more is likely minimal.”
Leareth could barely keep up with all the assumptions being thrown at him. "Just how reliable is this sage? Are you confident his vision was accurate? I for one don't think we should assume these things. Do you actually recall any of these things yourself? I do not. I do not remember such a battle. I do not remember our world breaking... We should bear in mind that Elminster must have his own motivations, which might not align with ours. You say the storm was created to stop you? How do you know that..? And supposing you're right, and it was, doesn't that imply someone quite powerful is opposed to us and wants to stop us?"
Kierro breathes a sigh of relief at Maril’s response to his question. To her follow-up, he replies: “That will work as long as we stay with the castle, which might be more of a hindrance once we reach the mainland. Avoiding cities and such once we’re flying overland would be ideal.”
To Leareth, he hears out each question and responds calmly and logically:
”Many of the dragons here know of Elmenster, and respect him as a wise sage. Chysen trusts him, as do I. Sharot, do you trust him?”
”My memory does not extend to the catastrophic battle that nearly destroyed our world, no. However, what I do recall is the gods growing fearful, separating from us, and eventually sending forces to eliminate us. These are the forces that we can see being thrown down from us when we battled in the vision.”
“Furthermore, a tear in reality such as the one that being created could easily have led to us being stranded on another world such as this.”
“Elmenster’s motivations are likely to case us out, and to assess whether we are a threat to the safety of his world.”
The storms are sent by Talos, this world’s god of storms. We have sensed that the nature of these storms is divine. They pour unendingly while we travel over the seas, only to immediately fade when on land.”
“It very well does, Leareth. The gods of this world, as well as their servants, wish to keep us from gaining our power back, likely to prevent another world destroying disaster from happening here.”
He waits to see if Leareth has any more questions.
(Sorry for not being very active. I got sick and had a headache so was checked out for a bit.)
Yuno listens to the conversation between Kierro and the others, trying her best not to seem bored. She turns to her dragon friends and whispers, "Hey, Tangy and Fritz... you know anything about this Elementar or whatever his name is?"
Leareth gestured and nodded. "Alright. You have met this man and I have not, so I'll take your word that he can be trusted... To a point. And I do agree that we should cooperate and not fight, regardless of whether he's telling the truth or not, or if he himself may be misled or not."
He figured he might as well start shaping them into a cohesive whole which he might wield in his own favor later. "But cooperating is only as good as the goal toward which we are working. Gathering out own memories is fine as far as it goes, but it doesn't go far enough. So, with that in mind, I propose that we work together toward the greater good for all the people of this world. Already, we are strong as most of them reckon such things, even if we have far to go before we match our former power. As we grow in strength, our ability to set things right will increase, until perhaps one day we will be able to make this whole world a better place for the average person."
Yuno Fraty nods knowingly while Tangy looks a little gray from the name. "He is likely one of the most powerful wizards in this world at this time." Fraty tells Yuno.
Kierro Sharut skimms closer to Kierro when asked about the Sage of Shadowdale "I would say he has his own agenda, his own goals, and is likely to steer you to what he believes the best option for you are within his own goals." She says a bit cryptically. "Trust him, likely, but don't try to understand his reasons or you will simply go mad. He has been on this world longer even than many dragons, only the most ancient of my kind were around when he first walked these lands."
Kierro looks overhead to Sharot. "I see; I'll keep that in mind. Thank you."
Returning his focus to his conversation with Leareth, he considers what to say. He looks from him to the Chromium and Black Dragons with him. And ponders how to take things with a grain of salt without being dismissive - after all, if true, it would be very nice to have him work toward a good end. Finally, he replies: "Leareth, if working for the good of this world's people is a path you want to walk, I'd be more than happy to accompany you on it for as long as you walk it."
He meets his eyes, his expression calm and inviting, holding him to that proposition. "Sound good?"
Leareth replied without hesitation. "Yes, definitely. I can't really remember how things were in the old world in any detail, but that's in the past anyway. What matters is the future, and as we regain our memories we will be in position to have an effect on that. It's up to us whether this effect will be positive or negative. I can picture in my mind a world in which the weak do not live in fear. That's the vision, the goal, I believe we should work toward."
He stopped talking then and observed. He did not lie regarding his vision. And who will determine the exact shape of this world, its framework? Who will organize the various parts into a well-functioning machine? Who is best suited to such a monumental task? Why, he was, of course. The organization he had in mind would span the whole world, and this time the dragonlords will lend their powers to him instead of working against him.
