Toby nods, as do two of the other guards, the rest choosing to stay by the gate in case the 'golem' returns. Heading inside, the town seemed more like a city. Though none of its buildings reached higher than the wall, the impression of it being a smaller town was washed away for anyone who didn't already know it. Though for now, this portion of town was mostly abandoned, leaving the streets empty aside from a few people who had begun peeking around corners or outside their windows when the sounds of battle didn't continue. The architecture here was more similar to the Irish, with many cobbles of rock, consisting of a primary color, surrounded by thin lines of other colors near the edges in relatively neat rows.
The road itself was more typical of a city of waterdeep but followed the same pattern that the houses did, a solid central region, with colorful outlines of varying shades. Ash led Rose and the mute to where he had last seen his other son, Ashby, who had made it a little farther ahead before finally collapsing on the wall, too weak to move. Rose making her way over quickly and pumping him with healing until his wounds were sealed. His brother Toby lagging behind the group but no longer hurt.
Once the magic was done, the group began to move towards the barracks/garrison that the third young guard had gone to, though now he was inside and sitting. He no longer seemed shook-up about the situation, and seemed like he had collected himself in the meantime, perhaps even trying to psyche himself up to go back out when the others entered. Oh, you're .. wait.. what happened? he said, when seeing a halfling, a two of the guards, and his friends walk through the door. Ash nodded to the boy Thank you for warning us, by the time we'd gotten there the thing had run off thanks to Rose here. Don't think I ever mentioned her to you, but she's an old friend of mine. Saved both of my boys.. one of them for the second time. SO show her some respect. the young guard looked at Rose curiously, clearly wondering how so small a thing had scared off so large a creature... Taking note of the other halfling in the room. Her kin. Doesn't seem to talk much. Go fetch us some water, and somethng better than bread.
Clearly Ash wasn't a captain of the guard but he also clearly held rank over the younger guard. The barracks was as to be expected - spartan. It had 'what it needed' and nothing else. Weapons racks, Enough tables & chairs for the guards and an area listing some information, as well as a book likely to keep track of reports. Aside from that it was barren and, especially for a halfling, spacious. Take a seat. I know they're not comfortable looking but they serve their job. So what questions did you have? And whats going on at Silverymoon - More specifically? The other two guards went into another room, leaving just a father, his sons, two halflings, and the sons friend, all taking seats within respectful earshot, without crowding.
Waiting on Bell to resolve how they proceed on that end.
Bell pokes her head through the bush and lays eyes on the motionless construct. Her eyes narrow as she contemplates the strange sight. "Well... that's new.". She braces herself for whatever may come next, but waits to see what the construct does.
Bulwark stays still for the time being but slowly, forces energy into the gems inlaid in the palm of each of his metal hands. Ic this new figure made any hostile move he would not have a second thought about protecting himself. Still he did make a note to test out a more melee based weapon other then those he already carried.
Bell speaks aloud to herself. "Hmm... it still isn't moving... is it asleep?" Bell crawls out of the bush, yipping once as a bramble pokes her side, and then sits cross legged on the ground, leering at the construct. After a few seconds, Bell reaches back towards the bush and rummages around in the foliage for a moment before pulling out a broken branch. Her eyes narrow once more, and she slowly levels the stick towards the construct and moves the tip slowly towards its knee. "Poke..."

The stick pokes against armor that seems to he built into him, this making Bulwark sigh internally even as he does his best to not move. He feeds a bit less energy into the gems and instead slowly grabs a stick near one of his hands, moving it to push the stick away. "You can desist this at any point."
"Aha! It speaks!"Bell chirps, almost triumphantly. She stands and tosses her stick to the side. "I'm Bellerain and I'm lost in these woods. Nice to meetchya. Who are you?"

Bulwark looks the stranger over before he stands up to tower over them at nearly 7ft tall. Despite having no need to, the construction stretches out his arms as though he was alive. "Bulwark. If you continue away from here for a time you will reach a town. Although be wary as they seem prone to attacking without warning."
Bellerain takes his hand and shakes it, looking over the tall mechanical man as she does. "Is that what those injuries... or.. er... that damage is from?"the Satyr asks. "You seem cordial enough to me... the city guards just attacked you unprovoked?! ... anyways, I can heal you up if you need it."

"I am more then able to take care of the damage as well. I will be fine by the morrow." Bulwark tells her as he holds his hand up towards some of the armor integrated into his body, casting a quick Mending Cantrip to fix a dent. It did not heal the damage but made his armor look better.
"Alrighty then. You got business in Everlund? Don't look like you need food or water, and you if you can mend yourself, what's a fellow like you interested in a town for? -if you don't mind me asking."

"I am looking for someone. I had found they were seen near this area within the last several months. I have been slowly getting closer to them after years of searching." Bulwark explains, his voice seeming to be pained by this despite his face failing to give anything away.
Bell rubs her chin. "Hmm... well, I'll tell you what: I'm no good at following directions and I'll probably get lost again if I go alone... so if you show me the way to Everlund, I'll help clear up what happened at the gate. I know the spell Zone of Truth, too, so if they really attacked you unprovoked, we can come as close to proving it as we can, and you should be in the clear. I have friends who went there ahead of me, and they're good people. They'll help out, too. You do the trailblazin', an' let me do the talkin'. Fair deal?" The Satyr smiles brightly.

"I attacked in defense and it may be possible one of the guards is injured. But it is what they deserve for attacking me. Regardless I will show you the way but then I will retreat for the time being. I am sure I can find somewhere else the one I search for has been." Bulwark says as he motions for Belle to follow, moving ahead while readying himself for another fight.

Day Roll Retu trip: 20
After a few moments the goat and her mech begin walking back towards Everlund, taking the same forested path that Bulwark had to get here. The many broken branches and plants making retracing his steps easy. The day itself dragging on in the endless march of time, but the day was cool (for a summer day) and the shade provided by the tree's. As before, any animals that had returned during Bulwarks first passing began to flee the immediate area. Though they likely would have done the same even if Bell were alone, barring her moving quietly.
Despite all odds, the trip was uneventful as the pair passed over uneven terrain as it sloped down to the lake that used to be a marsh, but not so steeply as to be difficult. It takes nearly another two hours to get back at an average pace - but eventually the telltale markers of Bulwarks initial flight area came back into sight. And though only occasionally, parts of the town could be seen between the tree's at a distance.
Rose gladly takes a seat, happy to be off her feet for a bit before settling in for the conversation at hand. Well, I suppose I'll start by answering your question. You see, I've been traveling the sword coast recently and so haven't been home in some time. However recently I found my adventures taking me back so you can imagine I was quite excited to see Silverymoon again. So imagine my shock when I see the guards fornication by the southern gate. I gave them a stern word but they seemed....strange. Then when we entered the city we noticed it wasn't just the guards but everyone. Its as if everyone was hyper focused on whatever was on their minds, even if it proved deadly to them. I barely managed to get us to the temple of Selûne and rescue a few people but the whole while we could feel some sort of influence trying to get at our heads. I tell you there's some sort of foul magic affecting the city and driving the people mad. I was wondering if you had heard or seen anything of the sort but if you haven't then it must be a recent change. As it stands, all our supplies were stolen by drow stalking the roads. We came here to purchase enough supplies to set up a camp near Silverymoon so we could investigate and perhaps fight this magic somehow.
Throughout Rose's recounting of the Silverymoon saga, Fallan nods silently in agreement, though her eyes are not on the small discussion group. Scanning all over the room, and gazing at the doors and windows, she seems to only be half-heartedly involved in the story at hand. Finally, after a bit, she speaks up only to say: "Did someone say something about food better than bread?"after which she grins sheepishly.
Bulwark pauses as they get closer to the town, stopping to move behind a tree. "This is as far as I am going. Good luck with whatever you need to do here, I will be moving on to another lead."
Fallan chimes in just prior to Roses response, and Ash nods. Aye. Its only proper. We don't have much of any real quality but atleast it aint rations. the man says, seeming to blanch at the thought of rations. And both his sons chuckle at it, while the friend of the pair seemed nonplussed by it all - though he made no outward attempts to say or do anything. He seemed curious to hear about what was going on in Silverymoon. Fallan's scan of the room revealed just how spartan the room was. The quality of the wood was good, though not great - And an unused fireplace, and one the two guards that remained in the room - the older ones - who seemed like he wished they could just sit down and relax while the other was grabbing the food.
Ash and sons listen to the story initially with curiosity, but as soon as Rose mentioned fornicating guards, the man seemed as shocked as he was confused. Brows furrowing, while Toby seemed to find it humorous, a nearly inaudible whisper to his brother Perhaps we should ask to be reassigned eh? Tch, shut up, Dad'll hear you! I already did. Sorry Rose, proceed. he said as she continued to describe the events, their effects, and eventually the horror in some cases. The drow part only seeming another notch in the belt of things he least expected to hear. By the end of it all, the man seemed to be very concerned.
I.... see. Drow, some sort of madness spreading, attacks along the road... perhaps they all have some connection, but I'm no scholar. And I don't have enough evidence even if I were. Lets only hope that mindflayers aren't involved somehow. As for supplies... we've been cut off for a while but, food is something we won't ever run out of. We're a farming city, much like Goldenfields, who seemed to be having their own issues, last we heard. But you may or may not be able to find things aside from food. I'll put a word in for you with the farmers. They won't part without money, but I can get you a discount - least I can do for saving my boys from themselves. he says, giving them a sharp look, disappointed in their performance, obviously thinking they had been 'slacking' in their training. About the same time, the guard who had left, returns with two bowls full of thick, hearty stew.
Rose nods and thanks Ash for his hospitality and glady takes the chance to rest and eat before going about their business. Before Ash leaves however Rose has one more question for her host. By the way, do you know where we could find Alphonse Finnegan? I'm not sure if you know him or not but I'd be interested in hearing exactly what kind of person he is if you're familiar.
“... Why don’t you stick around at least a little bit. I can go in myself first and talk to the guards. If they seem reasonable and willing to trust in the power of zone of truth, we can clear you of wrongdoing and get you in. If your lead actually is in Everlund, I don’t want you to miss it,” Bell says. She stretches her arms above her head. “It’s the least I can do after you led me through the woods. If I’m not back out before the end of the day, assume they aren’t being cooperative.”
