Rose turns to the others. Considering we are all compelled to speak the truth, I think its clear there was a misunderstanding. The boys attacked what they thought was a monster, which to be fair even I've heard stories of golem though I must admit you seem different. Perhaps we can start this all over? Rose raises an a hand up to shake. My name is Rosorla Brightmoon, Cleric of Selûne. Pleased to meet you Bulwark. I apologize for casting you in darkness, I didn't know what was happening at the time, just that someone was hurt and needed help.
The boys sputter and stutter but the conversation continues before they have a chance to 'defend' themselves. Frustrated, one of them runs into the zone of truth and loudly announces for all to hear The Bulwark.. thing came at us, saying a womans name, making us fear for our lives! We've never seen something like it, and it attacked us! the zone proving that his words were also true. However, Ash stepped in, and cuffed the boy on the head, with a disgrunteled expression he shouts Boy, your sentence leaves out so much context that it's no surprise the zone isn't triggering.. or activating, or what the **** ever! I'm dissappointed, and .... perhaps I should force you to re enter the guard, from the beginning of training. he seems to ponder that exact idea, for several long moments even as Rose was offering her hand to Bulwark.
And after a lengthy pause, he nods In fact i think I shall. If you are so cowardly, the instructor can help teach you some courage. I apologize for my boys, though even you have to admit if you saw yourself coming, you might get a bit worried yourself, if you were a human teenager who had just been assigned his first duty. A heavy sigh escaping the man as he added in, his voice showing that he still held atleast a little doubt though it was mostly ebbed away. But you keep mentioning this woman, and even from my boys, I don't think we've heard her name. And only very little about her appearance.... So who is she, what is she, what does she look like, and about when do you think she was last here? What was her business? etc?
Bulwark nods to Rose before the young man rushes into the zone, giving his own version of the story. He was going to correct it once more but when the older man steps forward to admonish the boy he keeps silent for the time being. "Her name is Latielian Narcion, a powerful elven wizard. I do not know what her business here was as it has been sometime since we last spoke. I only know she was last seen around this village several months back."
Rose nods in appreciation to ash before considering Bulwark once more. Well, my friends and I have buisness in Everlund ourselves. Perhaps we can travel together for a time. Besides, it wouldn't do to have other people thinking you're a threat. If we travel together, that won't be a problem I wager. Most common folk are usually willing to listen to the cleric. Rose winks.
Ash clears his throat and corrects Town but otherwise lets Bulwark, then Rose finish unperterbed. His two sons clearly frustrated, but compliant, knowing they would likely get in deeper trouble if they tried to press the issue. Though what shocked them next was Ash's next comments when Rose had finished speaking, causing them to stiffen up at the thought. Ash himself smirking as he said In that case, why don't my boys make up for it by escorting you around town. Having a cleric, and some town guards will ease the nerves, if the guards don't seem wary, if anything at the very least, it will make it seem like the 'monster' is under control. No offense when I use the word Bulwark, but... thats how most people will see you.
People fear the unknown, whether its prudent or not. Right boys? Goign to behave yourselves and help Bulwark and my old pal Rose get where they need to be undisturbed? a long moment of silence before a second round of cuffing occors, forcing both boys to quickly spit out Yes sir.... Sorry fa.. sir. We won't disappoint you again... they both said in near unison, with the same tone as two kids being forced to apologize to each other by their parents. Their shoulders slacking. The weather remained relatively comfortable, though it was becoming muggy enough to form small spots of sweat on everyone who could sweat.
Ash nods, and all but drags the boys along as he starts to get everyone moving back to town. I've got a lot of reports to write now, thanks to these two. As for your lady, we don't get many elves around here, and if I had a better physical description I may be able to better assist you... but I do recall a mage passing through the town a while back, though she seemed very to-herself by the reports. If I recall, she was heading for Moongleam Tower with some man... was an... he pauses as he tries to recall the description of the man, his brow furrowing as he did... Ah yes... it was a Paladin man, who was blessed with healing arts... If I recall, he was a Goliath.. one of those truly tall ****ers too. I believe he's famous in some far off land or another near the south of the sword coast. Caused quite a stir with those who knew him. Had a sword bigger than my sons here... They seemed pretty close too, from the one time I did manage to spot em leaving the tower.
The boys had perked up, suddenly curious about the potential drama, but kept quiet as they walked back to the town.... Ah yes she was a mage, perhaps you're her guardian then? Would make sense Ash pondered, obviously unaware of any deeper connections.... As I recall... they were heading to one of the islands off the coast in search of something... Chult, I think?
Either way, the tower ain't far from the bridge Rose was lookin for.
"That sounds fair and trust me I am more then used to being gawked at after so long a time like this. And no I was not her guardian. I am fully self aware and have all of my free will intact." Bulwark says as he soon looks to he in deep thought over the details given. He tries to remember if he knew anything about a Goliath paladin being mentioned by her. Before goes to far he turns to Ash.
"All right well she is a high elf with raven black hair, jade green eyes with a pale complexion many wizards have. As I said she usually dresses in crimson robes several pouches for components and the like. On her forehead there is a scar that runs above her left eye. She usually carries a staff made of petrified wood inlaid with gold and silver. I believe I also mentioned her owl familiar. It is large and covered in grey and brown feathers with a golden band work around the left leg just before its foot. If it had not been left behind I had a small portrait.... Forgive me I remembered a lot at once." He nods again before going to join the others to go into the town.
Thanks for the help Ash. We'll be sure to ask around as well.Rose turns back to Bulwark. We have to meet a man in town real quick and deliver a package for some people who helped us. Perhaps he has seen your friend? If not we should check the inns, I'm sure someone will have seen her. Oh, Rose looks to Bell. And it seems we will have to stay here for a while, if what you say about Silverymoon is accurate then its not safe to stay at camp. We should ask around about that symbol as well.
Bell nods and then looks to Ash. "Speaking of, have my friends told you about the disaster in Silverymoon? Some kind of poison in the air is making people manic, obsessive over small tasks to the point where it can be fatal. The radius was growing, albeit slowly. It would surprise me if the poison made it all the way here, but there's a chance it could. You at least, the local clergy, and anyone else in a position of power should be made aware of this."

Ash seems curious that Bulwark wasn't a summoned or created guardian. Though he knew little of the ways of wizards, it was commonly known enough for ones that were strong enough to have 'something' like that. The two boys remaining silent so not to incur their fathers ire once more, though one of them had escaped physical ire both times thus far. They kept pace but looked as if they wanted to drag their feet. Aye, that sounds like the flashiness of a paladin goliath, and an elven caster that would cause a commotion among the commonfolk... But don't fret over it. For whatever reason you're seeking her, and I don't get the feeling you're after her blood. Like I said friend, unless I misheard, they were heading for Chult, to look for something, but I'm not exactly sure what. They only stayed here a few days before leaving. And the Tower's like to know more than me.
He furrows his brow though when Bell further informs him of the situation at Silverymoon... I had been given a less detailed bit of information, But I believe they were waiting for you to return to inform them. If this poison is really causing these issues, I will need to inform everyone, but Everlund is several days away from Silverymoon... so we should have time to make some plans and prepare. I'll write a summary and have it disbursed to the necessary places. Thank you for the update, as grim as it is.
He nods and grunts a bit to Rose in acknowledgement before more or less stating that he'd be letting the guards at the gate know as everyone moved into town so that they would be appraised of the situation before heading quickly to the guard house, likely to follow up on his last words. Toby and Ashby doing as they were told, begrudgingly waiting to see where you would all go, since they didn't know which place you all preferred. The other halfling hasn't said much, has she... one whisper to the other, noting that Fallan has been inconspicuously quiet ... the entire time.
Regardless, as Rose had said earlier, she had business to finish, and so the party makes their way to the newly constructed bridge on the far - west side of town. All of the buildings along the way looking uniform, save for the personal touches of their owners. Bulwark drew many stares but no one seemed to panic, with what appeared to be city guards and a small entourage near the 'creature.' It took about twenty minutes to get there and the sun was beginning to rise farther, much past its highest point as the day slowly leaned towards evening. The boys taking you down to a small dock-like area for smaller boats that led under the bridge.
The water flow was slow here, though the current was clearly moving, and directly under the bridge, there was a door, as Ash said there would be. Though it's occupant was outside enjoying some personal time, fishing without a thought, not even noticing the group approaching till you got close. His attention turning to everyone, though the boys had taken up spots along the wood to keep others away so you could do your business.
Oh.. I wasn't expecting guests today, to what do I owe the honors? he asked. The man didn't seem well off but he seemed to keep himself away from lice and filth, dancing that edge.
Rose gives a slight bow to the fisher man before reaching for the package she was asked to deliver. Hello Sir, my name is Rose. A mutual friend of ours asked me to deliver this in exchange for some help they provided on the road. Rose hands over the package to the man. It seems they had some troubles getting into town. They aren't the only ones either it seems but I've not been to a city I can't charm my way into yet she says with a smirk. I'm quite curious what it is we delivered and what the fuss was all about, however I do have another question to ask if you don't mind. Once the man has checked his package or at least put it aside for later Rose will give the description of the woman Bulwark seeks to the man, inquiring if he's seen such a woman pass through.
There's a moment where the mans eyes drifts to the side, mildly confused, and still holding onto the rod in his hands counting can be heard .... Oh ... I had nearly forgotten, it was due several days ago and I had given it up for lost... with all the rumors of traveler's being attacked along the road.. the man says, placing the rod itself into a slot-like thing meant to hold it when the fisher is otherwise indisposed. Taking the package and uncovering it revealed a 12 inch in diameter sphere, and swirling blues of various hues whorled within the orb, and it thrummed softly once exposed from its containing cloth. The mans eyes became wet quickly upon seeing it, a mix of sorrow and joy spread on his face, only then noticing Rose had been talking.
Luckily his ears had been paying more attention than he had, and though it cost him a moment to 're-hear' what was said in his mind he nods and smiles through his welling tears I-it doesn't surprise me. With all the folks bein' attacked on the roads for the last while, the guard is jumpy.... and the rumors of what's 'out there' only makes them all lash out at whatsoever's out there. Rose, Bulwark, Bell and Fallan can almost 'feel' the boys behind them stiffen.
Well the orb ... lets just say it'll get me the chance to see my old lady one last time. But without some foul, evil thing like raising her from the dead, or forcing her spirit to return, or whatever else people do to defile the dead. It will let me speak with her without any of that. I've spent the last twenty years, scraping and saving.... working.... eating nothin' but fish or what berries I could find just for this... I know it may seem oridiculous... t spend so much time just for this.. but if you've ever lost someone you loved dearly.... A-anyways, pardon an old man though he looked maybe fifty at worst, himself What's your other question?
Delayed post. My apologies, work snared me for a bit.
Fallan, hearing the boys whispering, "The other halfling hasn't said much, has she..." did her best to stifle a slightly wicked grin. But with a moment of thought, she pushed into the brains of the lads [T] "No, she hasn't, and you probably shouldn't mess with her if you don't want more trouble - either with her or with Ash...'
Beyond that, Fallan satisfies herself with following Rose's lead, being happy to have Bell around again, and trying to wrap her head around what this mechanical whatnot is, or how it might fit in and possibly provide the 'muscle' they had lost with Root's departure.
(Just gonna post it again cuz I know I didn't ask in character but Rose provided the description Bulwark gave us and asked the fisherman if he's seen anyone like her recently)
Bell nods in agreement at the fisherman's comment on not defiling the dead, but otherwise stays quiet, letting Rose do the talking, as she seems familiar with this place.

Bulwark stays quiet as they walk, not seeming to be in deep enough thought to lose his awareness of their surroundings but deep enough that he says nothing on their walk through the town. As they get to the old man he looks up and focuses on him to hear what he may know.
Apologies, it had been intended to be touched on but as I posted everything else it got 'lost' in the mire of the mind.
As to the other question, the man thought about it for what felt like a long while, but in reality was only a few minutes. Not personally. I mean when I'd go to the fishmongers to sell some of my catches I had heard of a woman and a man of some import visiting the town. But .. I don't really leave my little spot here. In fact I'd suspect your guard-friends over there may know more than me... considering their .. field of work.

Just a reminder, Ash told you she had went to the tower marked on the map that's roughly in the center of town.

"I would tend to agree with 'Bucket O'Bolts Bulwark here if we are going anywhere. Some advanced information would be a great idea. Where would we find the public relations folks for the tower and Chult?"chimed in Fallan. After being quiet for so long, the seeming emphasis of this latest statement may have come across stronger than she had intended, but she felt it was accurate, nonetheless.
Nothing to respond to just yet. But you all, as a party, will have to decide whether you're going to abandon Silverymoon for Chult at some point, or if you'll proceed with dealing with Silverymoons problem first. Or.. something else entirely.
Alright Alright, let's head for the tower then. Though if they did go to Chult I'm afraid your on your own Bulwark. We have to stay here to help Silverymoon and we had other buisness to take of as well for Belle. But let's go see what they say at the tower.
