Fallan chews thoroughly and slowly, giving herself both more time to enjoy this excellent baked good, as well as running a thousand possible "her turn" responses that the dwarf would enjoy, but wouldn't put herself in too bad a light.
"Well..."she started, bits of bread slipping out between her lips as she started... "I find it interesting that you considered yourself 'good at theivin' in your younger days. Me, I never thought of it as thievery, but, yes, I had a tendency to break into places I wasn't supposed to go, even if only to see what was in there they wanted to keep me from seeing! I mean, really, should ANYTHING be locked away?" She chuckled a bit, and took another bite off the dwindling loaf, again pondering how much to say next. "I can't say I got 'caught', but, let's just say that I ACCIDENTALLY found myself in a situation where it behooved me not to be in the town where I grew up any longer. And to top it all off, I don't know what I stumbled into, but it twern't natural - if you know what I mean. And the voices in my head started up after that too. More than what one little ol' halfling should have to deal with, right? So I hit the road, just trying to stay away from anyone that knew anything about my 'accident', and trying (or maybe hoping) to put some distance between me and that unnatural occurrence. I knew I couldn't make it on my own - too MANY things out there that might cause me trouble galore - so I managed to fall in with a group that would/could protect me, and I just pitch in where I can to help them out. Like hauling the package from the fish-people into town. I might be small, but I can pull my weight.
Biggest problem, though? My friends are WAYYYYY too willing to go without a good meal... sometimes for DAYS... and chewing on this shoe-leather stuff they call rations. Not me. For all I know, that stuff was put on this world by the unnatural beings that are after me. If I am going to 'go', I want it to be with a full belly of deliciousness. Know what I mean?"
She stopped and checked to see if this was more to the dwarf's liking for a story. Then she added: "So you can see why I would be in your debt if you can provide us (meaning me, but I share with my friends) something to tide us over if we are headed back to Silverymoon, or wherever my 'protectors' want to go next. Can we work out a deal?"

Cadderly nods at Bulwarks response. That is more than fair sir. I don't exactly fit into my order as best as some would like, but I choose to walk my own path, my way. For better or worse... So That is an answer I can respect. With a tentative agreement in place, Cadderly nods, and quickly extricates himself from the building, as he clearly plans to get some supplies, as well as make some contacts. Though he respectfully leaves with a bow and makes sure to shake everyone's hand before leaving. Soon everyone was moving again, Rose deciding to shop though going elsewhere than Bell, if only to aid their search and chances.
In the foyer, Bell shouts, clearly pissing off the Yuanti and mildly annoying the elf, who both seemed to treat the area like a library. Only the elf speaking It seems your journey is beginning then. Be dears and come back someday and tell us what happened. This place is boring without a good story once in a while. she says to Bell, offering an honestly friendly smile before she, regardless of Bell's response, went out to shop.
The dwarf seemed far more intrigued this time leaning forward as the shadows of her story came to fruition. He didn't seem afraid of the potential portents or implications, and as a fellow street rat (in a sense) he didn't judge her for her actions. When the story was finally over he seemed satisfied, only for Fallan to reinforce her question from before...Tapping his finger on his chin, and rocking back and forth in thought, only a minute before Bells shout became audible.... Ye know what? Sure. To help a fellow streeter... As me mentor helped me... I can bake ye a weeks worth O' bread off me own coin, and I'll put it in a special beetle-resin box. Will keep away the mold you see? They don't break easily. Will help ye get a week without shoe-leather eh? All I got right now is supplies fer bakery fare. But I'm sure if ye look round town you'll be able tae find some meat if ye need. Just come by tomorrow two hours afore highsun. I'll make em tonight, and fill em with Honey. Butter won't last that long, but Honey? That'll soak into the bread. hearing the call, the dwarf Shoo's fallan out to go meet with her friends so he could get busy.
Bell however made a poor choice in shop. They could make the item in question but it would put the party two hours behind schedule , and they would be able to get atleast four if she was willing to wait, and pay the full cost since this was a 'rush order' (200gp)
Going to resolve Rose's shopping (as mentioned in discord) in a separate post.
The day goes by with everyone shopping, or going about their own business, sometimes finding disappointment, other times success. The morning is met with better than average food at the Inn, though it's almost entirely vegetables, except the eggs.. though plenty of pepper was to go around. The appointed hour comes (highsun) and depending on player choices will determine whether you all manage to meet Cadderly on time, or if you'll be several hours late.
Rose packs all her things ready for another potentially lengthy trip. Once ready she makes.sure to gather all the others, including Bulwark if he seemed like he was still going to follow them before leaving to meet Cadderly.
Bulwark seems to be fine with what he has, noticably skipping out on food and drink as well as other basic supplies most would need for camping. As he follows the shoppers about he tends to tinker on and off with himself. If any question him it will take a few seconds for him to respond.
Fallan arrives 2 hours early - or basically ON TIME for the pre-arranged meeting with her newfound friend the dwarven bakery chef. She is so happy to have a new/replacement backpack, and a set of locksmith's (thieves') tools.
"Wow, this is terrific" she says before even seeing the dwarf's goods. "Just trusting my nose, I know this is top notch. You HAVE to let me pay you... for both your goods AND your time. Really....." she pauses uncomfortably, realizing that she didn't know her friend's actual name. "Who do I tell my friends did this wonderful thing? My name's Fallan Kettlewhistle. I have no doubt we'll be seeing each other again. Now... what do I owe you?"
Once she has paid for and received the goods, she happily stored them in her backpack (since she had nothing else to put in there at this point) and went back out into the main hall to await the arrival of her other friends - whenever they showed up.
The dwarf Grunts, not liking argument, but also not feeling .like arguing back in the same manner that modern day families squabble over who's gonna pay for what and why it won't be the other person. Crossing his arms to express his consternation Fine. The goin rate would be two gold, but I insist on a discount. One gold and fifteh Silver for the bread, and one gold for the cases. I'll accept no arguements. And I hope that the bread brings ye joy little lass. Remember, a meal shared with friends tastes better. But aye, I hope we'll see eachother again. Fallan unintentionally and very briefly see's a warm memory of a little she-dwarf in his tiny shack he calls a home before the shared thought fades. The event being entirely unprompted by either party. Now be on yer way. From what I heard you and yer friends got some werk ahead o ye. So I hope it works for ya. Oh nearly forgot. Me name's Fine-Ale Trist. Made it meself, considering me situation. Now go, shoo, the sooner yer gone the sooner you can be back. I'll buy us both an ale if ye suceed. And a fine Ale at that! Ha hah ah ah aha!
With everyone else gathering on time more or less, Fallan being the last there but still being within reasonably 'on time' frame, considering no one had atomic-clocks that gave a specific time frame. Cadderly greeting everyone warmly, and looking the medieval equivalent of an over-preparer for a vacation, his pack stuffed to the brim. Telling everyone that the brothers would be meeting them on the road, having set out the night before to try to clear the road for everyone to make the trip faster.
This is all I have time for before work, you may post RP post, but when I get back from work in roughly 10 hours, I'll post 'the first day of two on the road'
If you made any purchases, please deduct the gold from your inventory. I will only do so in a similar case to the drow theft.
It appeared the brothers had done their jobs -or that nothing had been on the road to begin with...- as the first day goes by uneventfully. The first day no one seems to talk much either, everyone being more or less focused on getting to the destination and watching for enemies be they sentient or animal. Camp is set up and watches are had but again, nothing of any real note occurs. Unlike before, there had been no one on the road at all. Waking up the next morning, you all find Cadderly with a loaf or two of Fallan's bread waiting to be consumed, along with three steak slices meant to be shared between everyone.
Whoever happens to be awake would hear Morning! I took the liberty to make some food so that I would atleast be pulling my own weight here... I'm not good for much else outside of studying and tinkering. Unless you count being curious.... But ho, let's eat. Fallan brought us a bounty of tasty bread, that I've already taken the liberty of sampling!
Rose wakes with a yawn and the smell of food in the air. Though eager to eat, she takes the time to don her armor. Though unlikely drow would attack during the day she wasn't taking any chances. Once dressed she leaves the tent and stretches before approaching Cadderly. Good morning! I'm starving so best we eat before Fallan wakes up and scarfs it all down!
The day was warm and welcoming as Rose dons her armor, though she knew it'd be getting excessively hot by the time highsun came back around. But for now the food and temperature were both very welcoming. Having already torn off his portion of the loaf, and a small portion of the steak, Cadderly began eating eagerly. He woke up with a pit in his stomach and wanted to fill it. When finished chewing he finally responded.. after swallowing of course. Oh, come now, so little a thing couldn't possibly eat that much. I'm sure a quarter loaf and a few nibbles of the steak will more than fill her. he said, unaware of the blackhole known as Fallan. Though his smile was sincere, he seemed uncomfortable with something. And after a few moments, he gave some insight as to why...
I realize it's already midsummer, but today is feeling particularly muggy.... I've been sweating under my tunic since I put it on... Rose would note a constant breeze blowing against whatever skin was exposed, and the soft, low hiss of wind passing through nature. The breeze was soft, low, but never ceasing. And it seemed to be heading towards Everlund, atleast based on where the wind hitting her was moving.

Almost as if a cock had crowed in his ear, when his name was spoken by Cadderly, Fallan rose from her slumber - having interrupted her pleasant dream of having won the haggling battle with Fine-Ale Trist by leaving 3 gold for his 2.5 gold "bill". She grinned at her "recollection" from the dream of having accepted Fine-Ale's "discount" but countering with a "tip" of 5 silver - knowing that she only had gold coins, so leaving 3gp was what she HAD to do anyway.
She also pondered for just a moment the glimpse of Fine-Ale's tiny she-dwarf that had come unbidden when dealing with him. She smiled at the thought that this "Streeter" had someone he felt so warmly toward. The question of HOW she got that glimpse eluded her in her dream, the same as it had when it had actually happened.
But one awake, and hearing Cadderly talking about taking "liberty" with her bread (despite the fact that she HAD purchased enough for all) forced her to roll over and protectively check out the contents of her newly acquired backpack. While some anger started to bubble up in her, she let the heat of that emotion go as she almost laughed at Cadderly's underestimation of her eating prowess, and Rose's accurate assessment of what could happen to ALL the bread if Fallan didn't exercise a bit of restraint.
"Now, now, I'll not take more than my fair share of this morning's repast. And I won't let it slow us down as we get ready to follow the wind. I'm not sure how one can feel muggy with this cool breeze, but let's all follow the breeze and move on!"
Rose finishes her bread and quietly takes in the breeze. Finally she nods as if she thought of something profound, though whatever her thoughts were she didn't speak them aloud. Standing and stretching she yawns to wake herself for good this time. True, it has been pretty hot this summer, but its not unusual either this far north. Long grueling winters and short but hot summers. Though ill admit this summer in particular has made traveling uncomfortable. But I agree with Fallan, let's pack up and get ready to go. Rose walks over to Belles tent and clears her throat before loudly shouting Wake up sleepy head! The road is calling our names and if you don't hurry Fallans gonna eat your breakfast!

Other than a very very slight rustle, the first sign that Bellerain has awoken are a couple of audible gulps. Moments latter, the Satyr saunters out of the tent with her alchemy jug lifted to her lips. She lowers the container with a deep sigh. "Mornin' everyone! Oh! Breakfast is served! Thanks Cadderly!!" Bell hops over to the group and takes a seat, starting in on the small meal. "How'd you guys sleep?" she asks with her mouth full.

Cadderly couldn't help but laugh at Fallans comment as he swallowed the last of his own portions. Quite easily. Perhaps you've never read about the swamps, or the more arid, medditerrains. But it is quite easy to feel muggy even with a strong breeze my friend! he says, gathering his few loose items together and standing to start moving. And to be honest, i hadn't really noticed. I've been in Everlund for a while now, since the attack, trying to deciphere where Barjin may have been so.. perhaps i've been spared the worst of it. But I'm not normally outdoors too much, and I do need to be back before the end of summer... I've heard ill tidings about Shillmista. Regardless, This takes precedence.
Once all conversations were done, and all possessions packed and ready, you all begin moving again. But as the day goes on, dark clouds can be seen moving over, making the sky overcast. Cadderly takes note but it seems focused on the current objective, if only because the Chaos Curse is involved. Rose however feels ominous portents, Selune had been quieter than usual the last few days, and no visions had been granted, but somehow in Rose's heart she knew something was up... Just wasn't clear on what exactly.
The clouds had initially been slow moving, but as time passed on and the group moved farther away towards Silverymoon when a break in the clouds finally occurred. The party was already a days walk away from Everlund, but Rose couldn't help but periodically follow the clouds path throughout their march. And as the others were holding idle travel conversations, Rose took one last look back, after the cloud cover had mysteriously vanished, seeing now in the distance, a massive dark cloud behind the group that wasn't visible before due to the clouds racing towards it.
In a moment, what seemed like a typhoon hit a relatively large area, though from this distance.... it seemed like a large mountain range from 'a distance' as wind and rain pelted that singular area, rain poured like a waterfall unleashed intentionally, and failed to cease or move from that spot. With a solid guess, as everyone else turned to see what Rose had stopped to look at, it was obvious that the cloud .. the massive, black cloud was over Everlund.

Roll to determine if the storm seems natural or magical 7 not sure which skill but nature and arcana are both +1 and insight +7
Going to assume Rose can't tell with that roll.
Rose shifts around nervously as she watches the storm. Sure she had seen viscous storms before, strong blizzards and quick summer storms that while short were usually causes floods and fell strong trees, she couldn't help but feel something was wrong this time. She eyes the storm warily for a few moments before turning back to her companions. In a nervous, trying to joke only to calm herself tone of voice she said Seems we got lucky to leave when we did huh? Wouldn't want to have gotten caught in that storm while on the road. I'm sure they'll be fine though.

Bulwark goes about his morning tinkering about with a few things, not having the need to eat or drink. Despite this he does seem to look at the food a bit but shakes it off, knowing that it would only cause him to have to clean out the food. He makes note of the place they have come to, looking at the others.
4 Perception roll that apparently didn't work before, if still needed.
"Well, let's see... Gnoll attacks; Drow attacks; a town gone nuts; or a gully-washer of a rainstorm? While I would rather be in a warm bed inside a cozy hobbit-hole, if I have to pick, I think getting wet is the least objectionable option. That isn't to say that we can't press on AWAY from the clouds..." Fallan shivers noticeably, but apparently uncontrollably while thinking of ominous shifting clouds. "Let's keep up the pace and hope that we can avoid a SOGGY dinner tonight." She smiled, but the smile did look a tiny bit strained.

Occassional Dungeon Master.
