Gwen nodded as well, as uncrossing her arms. Gwen, despite being the larger one, was the more subdued of the two and usually followed in Rose's lead. 'whatever she does I do' much like how the other three expressed themselves. However, at Root's question, Gwen said, raising a finger to grab attention. I think we may need it. There's a possibility that a.. large sum of gold may be within the mine as well, and we would be.. behooved to not have something to carry it with, if its as large a sum as we anticipate. Of course, it may or may not be there, but better tp have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. But it's your cart and your animal, so ultimately, it's your decision. he said, leaning down and flicking Rose's side, since elbowing it was rather hard.
“Very Well, let me in u pack her and make some space bit of a mess.” Root grins embarrassingly As Bell and the Halfling father continue to be at odds then simultaneously passive Root let’s out a soft sigh. “Well guess I start.” Root head up the stairs out into the cold. he watches as the remain towns folk begin to trickle back into what’s left. He smiles as people start to work through the wreck though they had lost something they still continue to work together. “This undoubtedly bring this town to a new era.”Root thinks to himself as he hop on to his wagon cleaning up the hay they used as bedding and Dorthy’s food.
“Alright done with the cleaning. Y’all can hop in now little messy with all the hay do mine the fishing pole it’s my only one.” Joining the other Root mentions the wagon is ready when the group is.
Following the rest of the crowd outside, Fallan is taken by Bell's playing, but the newcomer draws most of her attention. As Rose is speaking with this "Halia person", Fallan quietly walks a wide circle around the group, listening intently about this special stone that seems to be the focus of Rose's conversation. Of course, since the Rose implies that Halia may have this stone, Fallan's critical eye is drawn to this new woman and how she carries herself, her equipment, and how accessible anything that might be able to hold a special stone is - especially if it could be easily reached repeatedly by the owner. As she does so, her circle around the group tightens, and she changes her gate to something of an actual skipping, like that of a happy small child, but otherwise doesn't add anything to the conversation. "Now where would you be keeping this stone, milady?" She thinks, eying a potential "mark".
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Fallans Perception: 18
The woman couldn't help but laugh dryly at the response. Ha.. if there were such a spell it'd be highly convenient, and likely as expensive as a resurrection spell. The woman keeps her eye on Bell, watching intently as the bard continues to express some doubt as to the timing. But yes, had you gotten here sooner some of this loss may have been prevented, but should of could of would have gets you nowhere. So do what you can. her tone didn't seem accusatory, but nor was it comforting. As bell pulls out her instrument, beginning to take in the mood, and attempt to put it into song, or atleast tune. The sounds themselves aren't bad, nor are they great. They belied that she was trying her best though the performance itself was nowhere in the same stadium as the night before. Her lack of confidence, due to this began to show when her voice joined the chorus. The performance was .. average, with an occasional high note.
Gwen was considering if she wanted to leave the comfort of the cellar as Rose spoke with Sildar. She didn't much like the idea of going back to that place, and was swimming in her own thoughts. Rose heading upstairs as her conversation with Sildar officially ended, with him going up as well, after the halfling, his boots clanking against the stairway as he does so, heading towards the townsfolk and beginning to talk to them softly, offering pats on their backs, and comforting words even as Bell's tune continued. Halia, the woman Bell had been speaking to moments ago was still watching intently as Rose approached, her eye catching the halflings gait and shifting to watch her momentarily, sizing her up as she had Bell.
When Rose began to talk, Halia switched all her attention to Rose - As the halfling spoke on, Halia's expression changed from its initial sizing up, to curious, and by the end, there was a glint in the woman's eye. Yes. I am Halia Thornton. The head of the Phandalin Miners Exchange, slash guild. If it still even had a frame. But that aside, I don't know whom this 'Cirrus' is but I assume he's the one who contacted me, impromptu recently? Is he here? if so I have some questions for him... but.. as for your request.... she says, crossing one arm, and tapping her chin with the finger of her other, contemplating. But yes, I can see some profitability for myself in loaning it to you if you're doing Gundrens works. However I will be keeping hold of the other stone, and I will pass along any information to whomever upon receiving it. If those terms are acceptable, then I am willing to loan you the other stone. But I need to warn you, this is a really cheap piece of trash. It only works once per day. And doesnt' recharge until the next dawn. So.. You get one chance and twenty words.
Roots conversation with Gwen still fresh he takes the initiative to begin cleaning out whatever messes may be in it, as he watches the townsfolk recover, for now they're not cleaning, they're resting, after everything that happened, being forced to flee and then return so swiftly, their hearts were heavy, but Root made it known that he was ready to go whenever as he waited for the others to be as well.
All the while, Gwen considers joining in with Bells music but fears she may only make it worse, they had both played so amazingly last night that she felt she may succumb to whatever was hindering Bell herself if she tried. A few of the townsfolk mildly watch as Fallan walks around ambiguously, a few of them cracking a smile at the behavior as Fallan made no real attempt to hide it, though they didn't suspect her of anything, because who would do anything like that if they had ill intentions? Eventually losing interest as Fallan closes the gap a bit more, she begins to eye Halia's person more thoroughly. Halia seems guarded at all times, making looking for everything Fallan intended to a bit more difficult. Halia is like the mark who's hand is ever on their purse, yet Fallan manages to glean several such 'purses.' along the woman's waist belt. A few of them held some Mining tools, one was likely the woman's coin-pouch based on the shape and weight, and yet another pouch nearer her hand, likely signifying that it was more important to her.
Halia seemed to carry herself with confidence, and she didn't seem nearly as effected as the other townsfolk, if anything, she appeared annoyed, but was masking it very well, enough that her frustration could be chalked up to losing her business. Halia seemed to be wearing leathers of some form beneath her outerwear, and guild-aprons. Halia was wearing nearly entirely dark clothing, of no real description, or emphasis - speaking of a utilitarian mentality "Functionality, and efficiency" and less on comfort. Regardless, Halia seemed like someone who was always on alert, and may be harder to Larsen in person without significant distraction.
Two of the townsfolk get up and walk over to Bell who was still going, both of them laying hands on the Satyrs shoulders, smiling. We appreciate it. Don't worry if it's not your best, we can tell you're trying, and this mood .. Well I don't blame you for not feeling entirely inspired. But I assure you you're helping. Because its not the gift that means something, but the intent behind it. Thank you. they both smiled genuinely and sat next to bell, closing their eyes with a sigh as they continued to look around at the devastation around them. Bell could feel one of the townsfolks hands press against her knee, though it left quickly, and in its place was a single gold coin.
Sildar continues to speak to everyone, until finally he's finished making his rounds, and calls out Allright everyone, we have much to discuss. I understand you're all sad, but we need to talk about the future. Most everyone except the two near Bell get up, and by this time, a few of the children that were among them were staring at Root's horse intently, seeming to want to pet it.
Rose's expression saddens at the mention of Cirrus. Rubbing the back of her head Rose tries to find the words to explain but no explanation would really make sense. Ah, yes that was Cirrus who contacted you. Its complicated but he apparently had a copy of one of your sending stones. Just one that is. But he is gone now as is the copy of the stone. You won't have to worry about it anymore. But I find your terms more than agreeable. We only intend to use it once we know the job is done and I'm sure Sildar will need the aid of your guild once the jobs done so I expect we will all benefit from this. Rose lingers long enough for the stone to be exchanged if she has it on her before turning her attention to listen to whatever Sildar appeared to be preparing to say.
Halia hmm's as she ponders something, before mumbling it must be some sort of planar bullshit... just barely loud enough to be heard. After rolling her head once, Then we have ourselves a contract. Here... she says, pulling the selfsame pouch that Fallan was pretty sure held the 'stone,' undid the tie, and pulled out a rock that looked exactly like the one Cirrus had, holding it out until Rose took it. I'll be sure to let him know of the deal. Whatever you do - don't die. That stone may be a cheap piece of crap, but it still cost a pretty copper. And I will be more than accomodating, should you succeed, with Aiding Sildar and the town. After-all, I only stand to gain from it in the end, and its cheaper than giving up. Never underestimate a strong nord Woman.
As the children stare “Do be shy! Come, Dorthy loves children is that right sweetness?” Patting the horse Root will encourage the children to come pet the horse. The horse on the other hand doesn’t notice nor really care. She an old soul and if and when she sees the children she will lower her had for a good rubbing.

Felix Windfall (Human-V Lv.7 Rogue) killed in ToA,Vallan Houndstrider (Halfling Ghostwise Lv.1 Fighter) in DiA
The horse whinnies and frays, panicking as the children gather around it. Breaking free from its bindings, as it hind-kicks one child, beheading him instantly, the other children begin to panic, however before they can make it more than ten feet, the horse tramples over the two remaining children, killing one of them instantly. The one who was unfortunate enough to survive.. his neck is twisted at an odd angle, as blood pours out of his mouth, barely managing to croak through the pain, and blood, and tears. Looking at root betrayed, before the horse crushes the childs skull in, its body bursting into flames, as it reveals its true nature. it was a Hellion Horse, from the 4th layer of the 9 hells.
The children's eyes light up, approaching the horse timidly at first, but once they see that Roots words ring true, they cry out with excitement, patting as high up on the horses legs as they can, or its maw/muzzle whenever it lowers enough to do so. The children don't quite smile, but some degree of happiness in their sorrow was brought back.
Bell finishes her song, and smiles warmly at the people who gathered to listen She feels slightly guilty taking a gold from folk who have lost so much, but knows it would be rude not to, so without making a production out of it, she pockets the coin. As Rose begins to discuss business with the woman, Bell heads off towards Root and Dorothy; she's here for the physical effort, but the planning side of things has never been her strong suit, and she's content to leave that to the Halfling. She speaks to Root quietly, under the impression that their mission's details aren't meant for anyone and everyone to hear. "So, we're clearing out an old mine? Sounds exciting... but do you think this is where your omen was supposed to lead us? I thought we were supposed to fight the Orcs... but maybe this was in the cards all along."
Aside from answering Root, I'm content to move ahead to the mine when everyone else is ready.
Fallan leans in, as Halia finishes tying her pouch from which she pulled the "sending stone". Her fingers itch; tingling. Surely, there was another stone inside, the woman had said as much. "I can get it without her noticing" Fallan thought. But when Bell headed over to converse quietly with Root, Fallan was distracted and missed her opportunity. Deciding that it probably wasn't wise to take the second stone - "after all, who would Rose contact, if we had them both?" - she abandoned the "lift", and walked over to her "partners in adventure" to make sure that the trio was still of one accord.
Rose joins the others and looks around to see if Gwen is joining them before addressing the new group. Well, assuming you all haven't changed your minds about helping, then I think we should prepare to leave soon. I'll try to give you all more details on the road but the short of it is there's a mine full of creatures that needs to be secured. In that mine is a forge, we need to find it and contact Sildar. I've got this sending stone so we can contact the townsfolk from inside the mine. Once the job is done we can likely expect to be paid but more importantly this will help the town get back in its feet. So unless there are any objections I say we move forward.
Eventually the Kids ares shoo'd away as the group readies itself to go. The townsfolk, spurred on by Sildar begin to rouse themselves to salvage what they can from the wreckage of homes, as well as talk among themselves. Ja'ree waves farewell to you all before joining them in lifting what they can from the rubble and seared wood. The kids attempting to help but really only moving wood chips and rocks from one place to another and other such activity.
Root more or less confirms the details that Bell asked about, but still shrugged a bit since they were all still new to this sudden change of course.
Once the stone was exchanged, Rose joined them at the Cart, and Fallan abandons her plans - Rose re-explains the details for clarity, as well as runs through the basic mission objectives. Everyone seems to be on board, and after deciding who sits in the cart, who walks, and watches for the road....
The temperature dropped continually as winter deepened into its final stretches, and the next few days travel were bitterly cold. Though that same cold offered protection from most creatures, as they slept, or hid for warmth. Each night went on uneventfully, aside from the howling of the wind, and the chill of the air, requiring a fire to be built to help the watchmen, who didn't have the luxury of blankets or the shelter of tenting. The nights were mostly clear, of clouds, though more clouds had begin to form on the fourth day, leading to an overcast sky.
Rose had led you all back on the path that she knew there, passing by Paavu's Grave, and a few other bloody landmarks.
Its the morning of the first day, and clouds have gathered overhead, though not blocking out the sun, its clear that its likely to snow soon as you all wake up, the fire being maintained by Root, who had been on last watch. Everyone packing up whatever they may have set up, such as tents, and bedrolls. The air was extremely frigid, and it was likely that if you didn't enter the mine in the next hour, or so, that even with the fire, and the clothing, the exposed portions of your flesh may begin to suffer for it, but there was also no need to rush as the cave entrance to the mines was close by, not even a brisk walk in distance.
Gwen had joined, being the only other person to have been inside the mine. She was as close to the fire as was safe to be without lighting her outerwear. S-shshshshshssit... it's ******* cold as the nine hells are hot... I'm glad we made it here when we did.... And I hope everyone's okay in Phandalin... she said as she crossed her arms, having finished her own morning duties, crossing her arms as much as possible to consolidate warmth, while eating the cold rations in nibbles. She looked at Rose and half frowned, half smirked. Clearly entertaining a thought.
Its just past the break of dawn, so the sun is rising in the sky, slowly adding warmth, that never seems to be warm enough to counter the cold.
Please post what you do in the morning. Don't feel rushed to post going straight to the cave, But I will post what occurs at the entrance, to allow you all to have more to react to when that time comes. Also as I said i skipped the travel time, this once, for Rose's players sake. But this will allow one final chunk of roleplay opportunity, as well as planning time. Please state the order of movement, whos first, second, third, and last. Gwen will always be 4th.
Eventually, when the group does decide to move towards the cave mouth, it takes not even ten minutes to arrive there, at the familiar entrance. Snowflakes are starting to fall as the clouds crept ever closer, and the wind picking up. At the entrance to the cave is a rather large wolf, not even attempting to mask its presence. Surrounding the wolf is stringy wisps of powder-blue, wending and warping around the wolfs snow-white fur. Its eyes a piercing frost, it sat on its haunches, staring at the group as it approached.
While on the road Rose made sure to stop at Paavus grave and pray to Selûne, asking for her to guide his spirit to whatever afterlife goliaths sought-after. She hoped he was at peace, and a offered a whisper promise to finish the task that got him killed for good this time. She initially wanted to apologize to the goliath, feeling she was partly to blame for his death. Still she could already hear him complain about offered apologize and simply strove to keep pushing forward.
The morning of Rose shivered and seemed to curl up within herself as much as possible on the cold morning. I need to stop agreeing to help people in the damn winter she thought to herself knowing that probably would never happen. Still, when there was a chance she got as close to Gwen as she could, partly to be close to the woman she loved but also to help consolidate warmth. Y-y-y-yeah me t-t-too. I almost look forward to being deep in the mine. Rose ate her rations while trying to expose as much as herself as possible and waiting for the others to wake up, having made sure to quickly pack her bedroll. When the others join Rose quietly greets them though the sheer cold makes her not want to speak.
When the party is ready and they move towards the entrance of the mind Rose stops in her tracks upon seeing the wolf. Where others may have seen a dangerous beast, Rose recognized a friend. Rose laughed in excitement and ran towards the wolf with arms wide open. Wrapping her arms around the wolf as much as she could she hugged and pet the winter wolf, taking a moment to enjoy her warmth. Yue! I wondered if we'd find you! I missed ya girl yes I did!
(EDIT: Rose will lead the party up front since she is somewhat familiar with the area)
Bell is the last to wake, and begins to snore loudly as the light and quiet murmurs cause her to stir. Mid snore, she mumbles something quietly and her jug shimmers. The Satyr then shimmies out of her bedroll just enough to sit up, and before she even opens her eyes she raises the jug to her lips and takes a deep gulp. She sighs deeply, contentedly, her cheeks turning rosy, but then shivers and huddles back under the fabric for a moment. "Cold," she states unapprovingly, and then, finally actually awake, she rises and cleans up her spot, holding some rations between her teeth precariously, eating as she readies herself for the day.
When they come upon the wolf, she grins, interested in the creature, but takes a defensive stance anyways. After Rose reacts happily and calls out the creature's name, she lets her guard down. "You know her? Was she waiting here for us?"Bell asks Rose.
Rose continues to pet Yue while nodding to Belle in the affirmative. Yes, Yue here was taken in by one of my companions while on our journey. Unfortunately, said companion didn't make it, he was burried at the grave we stopped at. A druid met up with Yue and joined us for a brief time. She helped me escape the mines when things were getting desperate. She was there when we defeated the orcs and I thought she left along with the Druid. Not sure how she knew to meet us here, maybe if there was some way to communicate...Rose trails off and shrugs, just happy to see Yue again.
Gwen had packed up rather quickly herself, more so to allow herself to keep herself warm, though she had enjoyed the momentary sharing of warmth between her and Rose - though she felt Rose had the better part of the deal! But once Rose started moving, So did Gwen. And when the wolf was met, and questions were asked, Gwen nodded, saying as cold huffs escaped from her mouth disappearing into the air Y-Yeah.. She was with us when we first came here. And I guess that means that the druid left her here, expecting us to come back... But I wonder if .... she said aloud, looking to Yue reluctantly, expectantly..
Bell steps up beside Rose and kneels down and closes her eyes. She presses a hand to her chest and mumbles something in sylvan under her breath, casting Speak with Animals on herself. The Satyr smiles as she opens her eyes.
"Good morning, Yue! Have you been waiting for Rose?"

Yue doesn't move, though she appears to be mildly enjoying the treatment from Rose. A few sniffs in the air as the group approached behind Rose, Gwen included. Though Yue's eyes watched Bell as she approached, and sat next to her, baring teeth, just barely. Fey words ring out softly, and Yue seems to regard bell with a toothy smile. [Common] Euweah is fine. But Euweah can speak. Euweah does not know you, wolf. You are not of Euweahs pack. Euweah does not know you. The wolf was speaking solid, but rough common. Yue seemed to have trouble saying her own name, perhaps due to the complexity in those three letters. Yue didn't seem likely to attack, but Yue clearly didn't recognize half the group, and was on edge, any attempt by anyone other than Gwen or Rose to touch the white wolf is met with a warning snap.
Roses eyes go wide with excitement when Yue speaks. You can speak?! How long have you been able to do that! You really are the absolute best! Rose would then continue to dote on the wolf.
Bell finishes her song, and smiles warmly at the people who gathered to listen She feels slightly guilty taking a gold from folk who have lost so much, but knows it would be rude not to, so without making a production out of it, she pockets the coin. "Well, we help these folks with their forge and we'll see from there..."

He will pull some dried beef jerky and takes a bite. As they begin to travel Root begins to pull his pipe out smoking, as he does the smoke again begins to swirl around him. Once they begin to get close enough he uses the pipe's ability to make a form of a lovely woman who's on a boat with a dragonborn and a hearts begin to swirls around the two before dissipating "Oh how I miss you my love." He mutter to himself as he is driving the wagon.

Never underestimate a strong

Felix Windfall(Human-V Lv.7 Rogue) killed in ToA, Vallan Houndstrider (Halfling Ghostwise Lv.1 Fighter) in DiAThe horse whinnies and frays, panicking as the children gather around it.

(I too am ready whenever everyone else is.)
"So, what's the plan?"

Was she waiting here for us?" Bell asks Rose.

Occassional Dungeon Master.
Roses eyes go wide with excitement when Yue speaks. You can speak?! How long have you been able to do that! You really are the absolute best! Rose would then continue to dote on the wolf.
"Who's to say what the gods give? Perhaps the Orc's were a rouse to get us here and this forge is the real reason."
"Well, we help these folks with their forge and we'll see from there..."
"Then let us be on our way. My blood is boiling in anticipation for these "mines"."
"Morning these cold winds really do wake you up yeah?" Root says with a smile across his face, as he finishes breaking down his tent "Well does anyone want some rations for breakfast?" He will pull some dried beef jerky and takes a bite.
