Getting a wooden spoon from his bag “Here bite down on this.” Root feels for the arm to see where it’s broken “Okay I’ll set it on the count of three, ready?“ Grabbing the arm he will count down “One, Tw-“ and he snaps it back in place quickly wrapping with a his bed roll he cuts apart with his claws.
Rose breathes a sigh if relief when the fiend falls and immediately sits down to catch her breath. By time Root was asked to help Rose had already taken out her medicine kit and was awkwardly trying to take care of her injuries. Well...yeah okay go ahead. I had to help one of ours when he broke his arm so I know what I'm doing but its not easy with one good arm yeah? Just make it quick, then we can take a quick break before checking out the rest of this place. And for the record Gwen is right, we had no idea that thing was down here, must have come from deeper in the mine. Rose bit down on the spoon and toughed out the setting of her arm, the pain making her eyes water but the return of her arm was worth the pain.
Aside from the pain shooting up through Rose's arm, it was set nearly perfectly, and after the numbness faded, she would likely be able to use it again, with only a little sluggishness. And it seeming like most agree'd -though Fallan had yet to make a statement- it seemed as though the group was preparing to rest in the area. The mine itself was silent, outside of normal settling noises and whatever sounds the party themselves made.
Bell winces sympathetically as Rosorla's arm is set, and then she approaches them, holding up the wand more towards Fallan than the others. "This thing can fire off the Magic Missile spell a couple times a day. Fallan, since you dove for it, do you want it?"
"Ummmm, the eyes? Did they ever 'go out'? Do we know for sure that the zombies and ghouls (who must still be around here somewhere - wherever they ran off to?) were the "masters" it talked about?"Fallan suddenly realizes that even the activity involved in fighting doesn't keep the chill of being wet in a cave complex away forever, as she begins to shiver to generate body heat. And if the constant glancing around as if anticipating the return of the ghouls and glowing eyes at any minute, from any direction, could generate heat, all in the "pool room" would be sweating!
Turning toward Bell, in answer to the question posed: "No, I *gave* it to YOU. As I said, consider it 'payment' for the healing... Much appreciated!"
Taking a breather Root stays in a meditative states as he breathes in and out he feels his body beginning to warm up again. After an hour or so in meditation Root will speak out keeps his eyes close “I’m ready to continue again. Do we still need more time?”
Gwen notes Fallans concern as she pulls Rose close to her, atleast whenever its not Roses turn for watch, and says Hmm.. Well I've read up on that skull thing. I didn't have time to say this in the fight, but that skull is some sort of arcane construct, and while it's a .. willing sacrifice... it still uses dark magics. A wizard of atleast some power sacrifices his mortal body... and other wizards perform rituals on it to bring back their spirit or soul, something along those lines. And then the wizards skull animates with nearly the same power they had in life, along with the ability to float.
Also... she says as something ticks in her memory... she hesitates, and pauses.... Err... one moment... she says, getting up, and leaving Rose (near the beginning of the rest) and rushes over the zombie bodies, before going to where the skull itself was... After which, she gathers up the shards of the skull into one area, though she is careful to keep them apart, before she starts dragging the corpses they had made over it, and laying them atop it. Then repeating the process with the rest of the zombies the party had slain and doing much the same.
Once she was done with that, she peeked around the corner and said Can any of you dispel magic, curses, or .. just happen to have holy water lying around? If not.. I need you to help me pile the bodies on this skull or by the hour this thing will reform and come at us again! But.. to answer your question Fallan... I think the Zombies were its masters in life.... and as such even in death.. it's just doing what its bound to do, nothing more, and nothing less... But we need to get atleast one of these bugbear bodies over it as well but I don't have the strength to do so... atleast not alone..
"It'll come back? You're kidding, right?" The still-damp halfling got up off the floor and hurried towards Gwen and the pile of bodies. She begins picking through the mass looking for a bugbear, and upon finding one, begins pulling for all she is worth on the leg of one. Of course, it budged very little, what with other bodies atop it, but Fallan tugged and pulled and yanked until it seemed the foot of the bugbear might pop off at the ankle. "Are you sure it's even gone? Even after I threw down the skull and shattered it... the eyes... the eyes still glowed and I thought I heard it..." Fallan shakes her head vigorously, as if to force some unwanted water from her ears, or thoughts from her head, and returns her focus to pulling on a bugbear at Gwen's request.
Rose searched her pack, unsure if she still had any holy water among her clerical gear. After emptying her pack in search of it she nodded her head in defeat. Sorry, seem to be out of holy water at the moment, and I don't know the spells you need hun. Unless someone else does we may want to reconsider taking our rest here. Rose gets up to help Fallan move the body but its unlikely that between two halflings much is accomplished there.

Gwen goes to help the pair of halflings, saying to Rose that It's Ok, hun... it was more of a 'lets hope someone has it' so we wouldn't have to worry, but yeah, lets atleast try to get one more body over it. And we can move to where the jelly-thing came from since nothing else is likely there since the fiend and the jelly both came from there... she says, as she grabs the bugbears body as well, but even with the three of them, the body is just too heavy to move. With a sigh, of acceptance, Gwen looks to the two Well it's not ideal.... Bu there are atleast a few zombie bodies weighting it down... we know it will be back, so we should just try to avoid this area if possible, and hope that it never gets out from under the pile... the way she had stacked the bodies seemed like it was meant to be a trapping dome, as if someone had laud a bowl upside down on an insect.
With Rose's help with the map, the group leads themselves back down the tunnels, but branch off to the east, and eventually find themselves in the room (At the center of the map) and aside from a slain adventurers body, this room was bereft of threats, and possessed of old stone bunks in orderly rows line the walls of this chamber, and a corroded iron brazier full of old coals stands near the middle of the room. The bones of a half dozen dwarves and orcs lie strewn about, clad in scraps of armor. And this place only has two ways in, meaning we can filter the enemies as we did only better.
Everyone settles in, and rests where they prefer, whether it be on the dusty beds, or the floor. It seemed this place used to be a mining barracks of some sort, likely where the miners of the cave went to relax after a hard days work. The hour passes smoothly, and you're all able to recover atleast somewhat.
Roll your HP dice to heal, Song of rest will be used by Gwen as you relax, so you may add 1 FREE hit die to your healing - meaning you can either use them all +1 or save 1 rest die for another short rest. Regardless, you will all be roleplaying at 'the end' of the short rest.
Bell stays on watch for almost the entire time, only slacking occasionally to take a swig from her jug. As the group begins gathering up to head out again, she speaks to no one in particular. "I'm out of spells... but I can still fight plenty and do a little healing... so just let me know when you all want to call it a day and make camp. Don't pus yourselves on my account."
I too am low on spells, I'm saving what I do have for an emergency. If anyone needs any immediate magical healing I'll be able to do so but I know a bit of mundane healing that will help as well. If possible I'll try to be saving the magic. Rose finished repacking her bag after failing to find and holy water and starts on some of her rations and water, glad to have even a brief moment of respite.
"Well, I don't have any spells either - but then again, I never did,"Fallan says in the closest approximation of humor anyone has heard from her in a long time. "Lead on, and I'm with you wherever that leads us. We do have a MISSION, and (hopefully) a PLAN for this, right?"
During the rest, Gwen had hummed a soft, pleasant tune as quietly as possible, in hopes that it wouldn't pass through the ancient doors. Anyone whom had been injured or remained so would feel ever so slightly more hale than they otherwise would be. Bell, who had remained alert during this time, heard nothing outside the room outside the occasional settling of stone that was commonplace within underground areas, though at one point, a distant howl had been heard, though it was clear it was far far away, and it had been twisted by many corners.
During this time the party quietly talked amongst themselves about their reserves, and that they would indeed be limited should another fight occur, some nibbling or fully eating their rations to recharge their energy. And likely, much to Fallan's disappointment, no plan was brought forth, other than by Rose wanting to confirm that the room that her previous party had fought the Spider in wasn't in fact the forge. Gwen somewhat agreeing to this. As much as she didn't want to go back to the skull.
With Root volunteering to spearhead it, the party eventually packs up, and carefully heads back out the door, through the wending halls, and back to the dark room, likely once more blessed with night vision, or forming a conga line of sorts. Much to everyone's relief, the skull seemed truly trapped beneath the pile of bodies, and while clearly it had reformed, as it considered the bodies of the corpses atop it its 'masters' it was likely reticent to attack them. And once confirmed, the group climbs over the remaining bodies, up the tunnel, into the north-west-most chamber in the the tunnels.
Six cracked marble pillars line the walls of this hall, at the north end of which stands a nine-foot-tall statue of a dwarf seated on a throne, a mighty stone warhammer across his lap. Large emeralds gleam in the statue’s eyes. The exception this time, is that the room is filled with corpses of all kinds. Stirges, Bugbears, undead of varying types. A single Grick, and a few clearly 'formerly' reanimated skeletons, the giant spiders. As well as the mostly-eaten body of "The Spider." It seems the only things that had been 'alive' in the room were the undead the party had already taken care of.
And unfortunately, a thorough investigation of the room proves that this was a shrine to some dwarven hero, or diety was all it was.

Rose does in fact grant everyone the benefit of her sight as they continue. She was not looking forward to passing the skull again but was confident they could handle it if it attacked again. Once in the room where they had killed the drow known as The Spider Rose did a quick search of the room before pulling out the map. She wasn't too surprised the forge wasn't here as she was sure she would have remembered it last time even if the visit was brief. okay okay...looks like the next possible location is...that way. Rose points towards the eastern stairwell. Before leaving Rose would find the Spiders corpse and do a more thorough search of his corpse for anything useful. After that she would be sure to check out the small room by the entrance to the stairs, assuming it to be the Spiders quarters.
"So, ah, dead dwarf statue... I'm thinking... No dwarves here, statue doesn't need gems... do WE want them? Huh? Might help pay for REAL FOOD once we get out of here. But I'll also say that things with green eyes kinda have me spooked lately, so I'll leave these baubles alone if you guys say so." If one's glances could be said to "drool", it's obvious that the hobbit's natural inclination is to collect up valuable "shinies" when possible.
Rose, filled with whatever type of nostalgia she would feel coming back here, to the location of their final battle with The Spider, and memories of that timely thunderclap from a blue bard leading to the massacre outside. Scanning the room, Rose would remember the statue with the emerald eyes that seem to be extremely valuable, someone could likely pry them out if they really wished. However, for now, Rose had to be certain of things, and went down the short hall, almost making it to the stairs, before entering. Luckily there were no foes in here, and it seemed the room had been untouched by the massacre just outside. There were a few bodies in the halls near the door but not nearly stacked as high as the other paths.
Once inside, dusty draperies adorn the walls of this room, which also contains a bed and brazier that by now was flickering with the last dying gasps of oil. A badly disheveled dwarf lies bound and shaking on the cold stone floor likely from more than just the cold, as his barely-clothed body seemed starved. Near the bed, is a table that looks like it has many parchments, with scribbles, including what look like various handmade maps of the tunnels. In the corner of the room, almost invisibly covered is a immensely large sack hidden mostly behind a blanket.
